"Are you sure?" Chad asked looking a-crossed the table at his soon to be ex guild master.
"Yes" Darren replied to him looking at him in the face and rubbing his eyes.
He had just finished signing away the last five years of his life. Here he was 23 years old staring at the contacts in front of him signing away all rights that he had to the guild that he had built up from the ground up.
This was the life that he was in now. He was the 3rd ranked payer in Generation. It was the most popular game in the world. If you wanted to do anything you were able to. It was build on a 1 to 1 scale of the real world with only 15 percent of it being explored. All types of fantasy creatures were waiting in this game to be hunted or befriended. It also hosted the most advanced A.I. available in the world.
Chad was the one person that he was able to confide in. He was his battle buddy the number 5 ranked player in the game. Darren was the striker in the duo and Chad was the tanker. They worked in perfect synergy for the last 5 years and that was the reason that Chad was second guessing all of the decisions that he had made leading up to this point.
"Chad, i want you to know i understand why your staying you need to make sure that you take care of you family ok." Darren said
Chad looked at him not sure what to say confusion on his face as he saw Darren stand up and walk away from the desk full of signed contracts.
Darren looked back and smiled at his old friend trying to make him feel better about what had happen, this was his oldest friend. There wasn't any way that he was going to be able to stay mad at him. He opened the door and walked out pulling out a cigarette and lighting it as he walked out.
He looked around the room filled with VR pods that were filled with the elite members of his guild, signing he made his way out of the building.
He looked out at the snow covered streets leading up to the building and knew that he wasn't ever going to step foot into this place as he stepped out onto the street to walk to his car. The last thing that he heard was a car horn honking as he felt something hit his side and the world went dark.
Thanks guys for reading i know that the first chapter is slow but its just the build up to the story. This is my first attempt at writing a novel on here so let me know what you think. Any feedback is great and hopefully we can grow this to being something huge.
