But he didn't dare return to the class, afraid to meet her again and succumb to his raging feelings.
He walked through the campus and ended up in the library.
He held a book and casually flipped through it.
His mind wandered back to Eva and her love for reading.
She was particularly obsessed with it.
He reminisced about how he had mistakenly destroyed one of Eva's favourite scriptures that was given to her by her parents when she was seven. It made Eva cry, alarming the whole palace.
He got a good scolding from his father as his mother coaxed her.
But nothing could stop her wails until Lord Poole promised to get her a replacement of those scriptures.
But despite his innumerable apologies and his father's promise to get her new ones, she sulked for about a week before she was overpowered by the need of playing hide and seek with him.
He let out a small laugh as greif clouded his eyes.
How weird it is right?
You love someone with all your heart and you want to get close to her.
But you know you cannot do that because you are the biggest threat to her.
In their past life, if he wasn't there in her life, no Elisa Osborne would have come behind her to venge the insult her family had to face as her marriage proposal to him brought by the Osbornes was declined by the Pooles.
Though to him, his parents had chosen the most polite way possible to refuse their proposal, carefully explaining that Zeus's bride had been decided when the boy was of six months.
Aaron even thinks that it wasn't the Osbornes that called for the revenge, but it was Elisa herself as at that time, she had come to him and vowed to not let him and Eva live peacefully as long as she was alive.
Zeus had smirked to her childish threats as he knew little that she could really prove to be such a great threat to the newly wedded couple and end up uprooting it, even before it could bloom properly.
As Aaron found his heart growing heavy with every passing minute, he decided to leave the library and take a walk in the garden.
But even in the garden he couldn't relax. He kept on thinking how he had made Eva a flower decorated swing on which she used to sit for most part of the day, either singing or reading.
Does she still like reading, or does she sing now?
Thinking of which, does she know who I am?
Does she remember our past?
Probably not because if she did, she wouldn't have given me such blank looks back in the hallway and the cafeteria right?
Disappointment clouded his eyes.
But he quickly recovered, thinking that it's good if she doesn't remember him. It won't give her all the pain he experiences and it would be easy for him to maintain a distance between them.
But what about the others..The Martin and Elisa of this life.
Both don't seem to harbour any harsh feelings against her.
So they must not remember about their past.
Yes..it must be so.
-
After walking for a long time, his feet ached a bit. So he decided to sit under a tree at a corner.
He looked up at the tree as its large canopy protected him from the heat and rays of the sun.
This tree.. resembles that one.. so much.
He leaned on the tree and mumbled on his own, "I tried so hard to stay away from her, to not meet her. But in the end, why did you put us in the same school when I cannot even change the school now, God? This is so unfair."
He pouted like a little boy would do while complaining.
Then he closed his eyes and her faced surfaced up in front of his eyes.
Her beautiful face, the beautiful pair of pitch black eyes that looked at him with so much astonishment.
He smiled peacefully at this thought at then drifted off to sleep.
-
When Lili went out for a stroll in the garden, she saw somebody sitting under a tree, probably sleeping.
Inquisitiveness overpowered her and she walked nearer to the unknown figure under the tree.
Once quite near she identified the person under the tree and heard him mumbling something.
She stood there completely dazed, staring at his handsome profile without batting an eye.
He is so..handsome and serene while sleeping, when the cold and distant aura around him is replaced by a sad and solitary one.
I don't even know him, but why does looking at him like this create such ripples in my heart?
Suddenly she was startled by the sudden screaming of the boy.
"EVAAAAA..!!"
She hastily covered his mouth to stop him scream.
When she found she had woken him up, she tried to coax him thinking he must have seen quite a bad dream to get so much drenched and scream like that.
But, to her astonishment, she was actually confessed love.
Actually no, she wasn't, but some "Eva" was.
