Chapter 20: CHAPTER 20: THE BEGINNING !!!
The next day Rei was energized from sleep, she decided to leave the dorm first. Her roommate was still sleeping so she made sure not to create unnecessary noise before leaving. Breakfast was already being serve and her friends started joining her table and she prayed for the food.
"Good morning! how are you?" Ritz sincerely asked after taking her first bite.
"Thank you for asking. Len actually help me out for a while." Rei replied flatly.
"Oh! That's good to know. Let's continue eating then, I'm starving." Ritz replied looking at Len and they continue eating in silence but after 10 minutes Ritz wanted to talk about what happened last week and started asking.
"Rei, I'm curious?" Ritz asked.
"About what?" Rei answered looking at her.
"I know that we entered this school to protect the residents but who will protect us from them?" Ritz replied.
"What do you mean by protecting the residents here?" Rei asked trying to confirm what Ritz mean, she's confuse.
"Oh! I forget, I'm sorry. I was hoping that you knew, you are acquainted to the school founder. Anyway, we are specifically here to be trained and become protector's first, then education second. We are more of 'the residents shield' against those who are not aware of them and themselves too." Ritz explained.
"So, are you saying that both of you agreed to be here because of..... everything you just said?" Rei trying to confirm.
"Well, not exactly but 1 of the reason why I choose to study here. How about you Len?" Ritz asked.
"I'm aware of it, but I was sent here by my step father to separate me from my mother." Len replied nonchalantly after all he never cared about his so called family except his mom.
"What!? can he actually do that when he is not your father?" Ritz asked.
"He can. He is manipilative and with money." Len replied sneering and trying not to show his disgust for his step-father.
They continued to eat after a few minutes of silence after Len replied. realizing that they might get out of the topic they are discussing and became awkward for everyone. Ritz did not speak again until they were done eating.
"I actually guessed the reason behind why I'm here when Mr. Cross showed me the Island for the first time but did not dwell on it. If they plan to train us for whatever reason behind it, I'm fine with it. Since we are talking about it, I remember Mr. Cross asking me to join some additional activities not related to my course. This might be one of them." Rei suddenly speak to disperse the akward silence, while telling herself that she only planned to graduate as a doctor but their are things in life that will make your plans change because they might be better than what was originally plan and for whatever reason she feels a deep connection and security in the Island, with her facial expression unchanged in front of her friends, she wants to know why.
"That's a relief, I just hope we can stay as a group." Ritz said.
"Well I'll second that." Len said. As long as he stays near Rei and repay her back the help he received from her years ago. Without her and her family's help he would never see his mother again.

The headmaster and all school officials made plans to make groups for the freshmen to train with according to the need and provide them a senior to guide them. A week after a final set was posted and asked all the freshmen to be present in the auditorium. As they enter there are seniors waiting with the organizer of the training.
"Hello everyone, let us welcome our school Head master to present our agenda today. Sir? " the announcer started and look at Mr. Cross.
"Good afternoon, as you all know our school is not well know to the whole world only to a few. Our main purpose is to make sure it will be kept hidden and to protect the lives of those in the island. Some of you might not know, less than a year ago a change happened on our current situation and work and I won't go to the details tha lead to decrease of manpower. For now we would like to welcome all those chosen recruits. We hope by the end of your training that everyone pass. The're going to post your groups and the senior assigned to you as your guide and mentor." Mr. Cross explained and left after overseeing the group complete.
The group consist of 6 people to prevent over working their guide. Ren and Ritz are together separated with Rei on a different group, which is under Jade with his assistant.
"Rei, come over." Jade called her smilling ang waving at her.
"Jade? So, I'm at your team then?" Rei asked after knowing who called her.
"Yes, me and Shana and other of my team as assistant when I'm not available. Here are also the other 5 freshmens." Jade continued to introduce all the other people present. They left the place to use one of the available rooms for discussion. while Shana ask Rei to talk to her so the decrease the speed of there walk.
"How do you feel about all of these?" Shana started to asked and Rei notice something is different with Shana to approach her and asked a sincere question. Rei wanted to tell her a bit of what she feels for she's not sure of Shana's motive.
"I'm not sure, more of mixed emotions." Rei decided to say.
"I see, I remember my training. I wasn't as calm as you but was so excited that I did not sleep well. I always wanted this because I grew up with my parents working here. Until I felt fear for the 1st mission I went to, I panicked and cause injuries to my team mates but I was fortunate no one died. That they were not bothered by it and I felt I was not alone. In the same way that you won't also feel alone when you have your own team in the future." Shana truthfully advised.
"Thank you, I'm surprised that you try to assure and advice me. You don't actually like talking to me, right?" Rei asked smilling at her.
"That... It was my mistake and I'm sorry. We fixed it together and I..."
"It never bothered me so do not worry about it. Although I was always on guard on you since then. Also you two are working it out fine, few actually can be as mature as you two when needed to be in a relationship. Anyway me being calm is something I do to prevent myself emotionally influencing others and... I always believe that I was never alone for I know One great and powerful is always watching all that happens on me and everyone. Nothing can be hidden from him anyway." Rei replied and reminded.
"Thank you Rei. Your different from everyone, maybe how you were taught. I mean it as a compliment." Shana answered. they both continued to talk while increasing the pace of their walk to reach the meeting place. As they reach them they were already on the Do's and Dont's while training and the responsibility of the seniors as their mentors. After an hour of discussion they all went back to the auditorium.
"Your training will be extensive and be done within 4 months. After 4 months, you are all evaluated and base on your performance be given contineous and regular exercises. Please take advantage of your trainings to learn and strengthen your body. Not only for your use but to help others too. See you all after 4 months."
