Chapter 7: Hundred temples city

"Well… that explains a lot."

They don't know…. Wait he learned it himself not too long ago…

"So can you help us?"

"It's that way."

Pointing in the right direction Marcus sighed, a few days ago he also had no idea where north or east or west, or south were…

"Thank you a lot; I will repay this favour. By the way… what are you doing here?"

Marcus looked at Zhi Ruo, having a better look, she was a beauty! Almost a perfection, with pitch black hair, small hooked nose, rosy lips and green eyes. His heart started to beat a notch faster.

"I'm traveling, heading for Yellow Grass town."

"Yellow grass town? But that's on the other end of the forest!"

Clearly shocked Zhi Ruo exclaimed loudly, others from her group had the same reaction. Why was that? It's just a town. Its only on the other side… of… the… forest…. ES! How long will I have to walk there?!

"Around two months."

TWO MONTHS?! That's too far away! Two months in a forest? No way! Es there has been a change of plans! Let's go to… Hundred temples city!

"Actually I was just joking! I'm also heading to Hundred temples city."

Seeing that Zhi Ruo and others didn't believe it was a joke, Marcus gave up and said nothing more.

"Why not join us on the way to the town?"

Zhi Ruo's proposition sounded very real and honest, but Marcus knew…

"You just don't want to get lost again, right?"

The panic on Zhi Ruo face was as apparent as the sky above.

"Either way I will go with you guys."

Sitting back down Marcus continued to roast meat above the fire. Zhi Ruo and others came over and also sit down.

"Can you tell me why are you guys here?"

Zhi Ruo and others may have gotten lost, but they didn't come to the forest for no reason. Marcus ran away from his clan leading to him being in the forest but they are not runaways, this much he could tell.

"Our school organized hunting competition a few days ago, but when looking for spiritual beasts, we got lost… it turns out that none of us knew the way back so we could only wander aimlessly until we met you."

So they were hunting spiritual beasts. And got lost. Thinking a few days back when he fought the spirit wolf, he was able to win by himself, so they together should have no problem to hunt any rank one spiritual beasts.

"Did you hunt any?"

"We did, a few ranks 1 and one rank 2."

Rank 2? Marcus knew that for him to have a chance he needed at least ten energy. Fortunately, it would be very soon, and he himself would be able to fight them. But that didn't mean that he was invincible in rank two after getting ten energy, his power gave him a huge advantage since it's very different from normal cultivation, he could fight from distance instead of close quarters. But the moment the enemy was faster than him or could block his lightning he wouldn't be able to do anything.

Seeing that the meat was ready, Marcus divided It into six pieces and gave one to everyone. Since it was not a lot they finished quickly, soon they got up and started walking.

In the next five days, Marcus talked with Zhi Ruo, it turned out that they are all going to one of the schools in the hundred temples city. They were supposed to spend three days in the forest hunting spiritual beasts, but since they didn't come back, the school probably assumed that they died. This was something normal in this world; people die every day. Spiritual beasts, experts, demons, anything can kill you.

When they left the forest, and the city came into view, Marcus held his breath. He saw many towering temples in the middle of the city surrounded by a huge city. Zhi Ruo told him that hundred city's city is an academic city, here you can find many different schools that teach almost everything.

Slowly nearing the city, Marcus realized how huge it was. The walls surrounding it were a dozen meters high and just as thick. The city itself was bustling with life; people were everywhere. It took an hour to find Zhi Ruo and others school.

"Thank you again for your help. Do… you have any plans for now?"

Marcus honestly had no idea what to do. The most important thing for him was to get stronger other than that there was nothing. He should find a way to earn money, but he can get food from the forest, so that's not a problem. A place to live will also be useful.

"I think I'm gonna find a job. Something that gives me a lot of freedom."

"Oh… then why not join the hunters guild, they will buy everything you manage to hunt, there is no quota how much you have to hunt so if you want money you can just go hunt."

Zhi Ruo said with a disappointed face.

"Where can I find it?"

This was a perfect job for Marcus, it lets him have a lot of time for practice, and when it's necessary, he can just go hunting.

"Can you wait a bit? I will just go talk to the teacher and then take you there."

"Sure."

"OK, can you wait here a bit?"

"Go ahead; I will wait."

After Zhi Ruo and others left, Marcus walks up to a wall and sit there.

Soon Zhi Ruo came back and started leading him to the Hunters Guild. The city was huge it took them twenty minutes to get to the hunters guild. It was a grand building with a huge hall inside, on the right was a reception desk, walking up to it Marcus noticed the receptionist, a middle-aged man in leather clothes.

"What do you want?"

His voice was hoarse, and tone unfriendly. Ignoring it, Marcus firmly said.

"I want to join the hunters guild."

"No."
