No matter what, Mingyue never expected for Liao Yun to redress her grievance at this kind of timing. Her original expectation for letting Liao Yun to 'clean up' Fu Tao before she healed his wounded hands.
No matter how mad Liao Yun was, her heart couldn't help but softened when she saw Mingyue's small figure – similar to a scared small animal. No matter what kind of woman, their softest spot would be tickled when they such scene, and Liao Yun was not the exception.
As the only person she was close with, excluding her father Lei An and her slave Fu Tao, she would grow lenient toward Mingyue's mischievous. Even sometimes, she would turn blind to Mingyue's mischievous nature.
But she never expected that she was the repeated victim of Mingyue's mischief.
Her heart was as if a balancing scale – between forgiveness and truth. Not like she was demanding for a justice or such similar thing. But the fact that a troublemaker was messing with her many times without her realization left a bitter aftertaste in her mouth.
She, Liao Yun, spent her childhood as the tribe's biggest troublemaker. No one dared to stop her, no one dared to go against her. She strode unhindered as if she owned the heaven and earth in the Wind Chasing Tribe's settlement.
Hence, how could she let a little girl making a fool out of her?
She wasn't some kind of retard. . .
But unfortunately, what she thought was the difference with what she did.
Caressing Mingyue's silky black hair with her already-numb swollen hand, Liao Yun just snorted, "Humph." Without asking, without doing anything, as if the previous conversation disappeared in the dark.
Mingyue let out a smirk while murmured inside Liao Yun's embrace, "Just according to the plan." It was soft and very faint, but how could Liao Yun not catch on it?
Puk. . .
Knocking the top of Mingyue's head softly, Liao Yun rolled her eyes and preached, "Don't be too mischievous. Heal my hand while you are here."
Liao Yun shoved both of her swollen hands toward Mingyue. Even though the appearance of her swollen hands was scary, she didn't really feel anything on her hands – only some discomfort when she lifted and used her hand. Not to mention, she couldn't even ball her fist with this kind of swell.
Mingyue returned to her calmness when she heard Liao Yun's word. After looking at Liao Yun's hand's condition, her eyebrows were raised.
[. . . Are all Warrior Summoner a barbarian? Or every Wind Chasing Tribe's tribesmen are all barbarian? How can not only smelly tofu, but also little Yun?]
[Sigh. . . Swollen muscles. The veins are all pressed by the swollen muscle. Not to mention veins, everything inside is all pressed down by the swollen muscle, even her bones are the same. . .]
[This is. . . really muscle-brain. . .]
Mingyue was speechless as it was out of her expectation. She herself had fought earlier with the similar red mask, who wore the similar ash-coloured armour, hence she understood the difficulty of the fight.
Hence, she couldn't really say anything.
Peeking at the badly-mangled corpse nearby along with the dented ash-coloured armour, Mingyue's lips twitched.
[I. . . I will try to not play trick anymore, lest I will end up like that. . .]
She swore in her heart. But of course, her promise was only about Liao Yun, not other people like Fu Tao.
…
Suppressing the aching muscle all over her body, Mingyue healed both of their hands.
Other than her hands, there were only various bruises all over Liao Yun's body if one didn't count on her outfit. And of course, it was easy for Mingyue to heal her, but Mingyue didn't fully heal Liao Yun on purpose.
Fu Tao's condition was a little better, but Mingyue only felt repulsed every time she recalled the disgusting stench from Fu Tao's puke.
Of course, who wouldn't feel so when one saw something similar to a s**t being puked?
It was a horror.
But after long contemplation, Mingyue healed Fu Tao as well.
After healing Liao Yun and Fu Tao's hands, the group gathered up to rest. Based on their calculation, it was already midnight at the outside, making them stay for a night before searching the way out.
Mingyue knew the way out, but she kept her mouth closed all the time.
With a pair of the ball of light, the dark place was illuminated – clearing the cold dark and giving the group a sense of security, lest of another ambush.
Of course, the ball of light was created by Mingyue, and it was the small size one. Even if Mingyue was not awake, the ball of light wouldn't disappear as she had stored a size of Elemental inside the ball of light.
It was a similar concept to a battery.
Even though from Xiao Jing, Mingyue knew there was no other thing around here, she didn't say anything as the other's were in night guard.
Mingyue and Liao Yun had already gone to sleep, without caring for any other thing. Well, perhaps they threw the most annoying thing toward Fu Tao.
Fu Tao couldn't train with his condition, thus he focused on giving instruction toward the young Song Qi.
"Keep your posture." With the newly bandaged hand like a ball, Fu Tao couldn't even hold his weapon.
Even though he believed that this bandaging was a little overdoing, Mingyue didn't accept his objection. No matter what he said, Mingyue would turn her ear deaf.
'Am I the healer, or you are?'
With that sharp sentence from Mingyue, he had no way to refute. But thinking that Liao Yun was in the same situation, his chest warmed a little.
Swiish, swiish, swiish. . .
"Yes!" A spirited voice came from a youth boy which was punching in the air one after another.
His posture was still rough and there was no strength behind his punch, but there was a trace of satisfaction in Fu Tao's gaze.
[Only a few days, but he is already this good. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to teach him the way to become Summoner.] Fu Tao sighed in his mind, feeling sad about it.
Summoner was a unique occupation of the Wind Chasing Tribe. The ability to create and materialize a summoned beast was a sacred skill of the tribe, making the occupation exclusive for the tribesmen only. There was no story about an outsider learnt and became a Summoner, including Mingyue herself.
Even though Mingyue was allowed to listen more about Summoner occupation, Liao An, as the tribe's leader concealed the important point of the occupation.
Fu Tao felt that it was a pity, considering the honest and diligent nature of Song Qi which was compatible with him. Thinking until this, he wondered whether Mingyue had a plan for Song Qi.
He began to understand about the world's ruthlessness – unlike the Wing Chasing Tribe's settlement. It was a law of jungle – the strong devour the weak while the rich trample the poor. Evil and injustice were everywhere.
After experiencing a scary thing like a massacre in a settlement where he found the unconscious Song Qi, uneasiness filled Fu Tao's heart. He wondered about his life if he was born outside of the Wind Chasing Tribe's settlement.
Would he experience the same thing as Song Qi, or something even worse? Or perhaps, he would be the evil instead?
Shaking his head, Fu Tao dismissed all of that thought. No matter what, he was he, Fu Tao from the Wind Chasing Tribe, no one else.
Looking at the sweaty youth in front of him, Fu Tao only smiled.
[Even though I cannot teach him about Summoner occupation, I can teach about my fighting style. Consider it as my present to you, for your future.]
Of course, Mingyue would scoff at Fu Tao if she learnt of his thought…
…
With the ended fight, Zheng Yi, Zheng Zhanglie, and Peng Zhen heaved a sigh of relief. Even though both Liao Yun and Fu Tao were both wounded, it was not a life-threatening wound at all. With a simple rest, both would return to their peak condition – that was what Mingyue, the only healer said to the group.
But with the arrival of the calm, a surprising discovery astonished the group.
"Hey. . . Isn't this. . ." Zheng Zhanglie went closer to disrobe the corpse of everything. "Little Yi, Zhener, come here and look at this guy's face. Don't you think that he resembles someone?"
Of course, that was not his idea at all, but rather Fu Tao. Looting the armours and gears from the corpse would make a little money, was what Fu Tao believed.
And Zheng Zhanglie didn't against it when Fu Tao promised that the money would be evenly divided into two group.
With such easy money, moreover, in a time like the present where they were in the desperate condition of needing some money, Zheng Zhanglie couldn't refuse. He was not a hypocrite.
Not to mention that they would loot from their ambusher, making them didn't have any guilt.
But just after Zheng Zhanglie went closer to one of the corpse, he was astonished. He believed that the corpse was a little similar to a person that he remembered.
Zheng Yi was chirping around Liao Yun, but she nagged when her brother called him. But even so, she still came right beside Zheng Zhanglie to see what he had pointed. "What? Don't call me for something. . . hmmm. . ." Without any infatuation when she was chasing Liao Yun, her gaze turned ugly on when she saw the corpse. Or more precisely, the corpse's countenance. With a tinge of hatred, she shouted, "Damn! It is that bastard, brother! How can you not realize it! Stupid!"
With stomps full of anger, various shoe's marks were pasted on the corpse, making the ugly and full of wrinkle corpse turned uglier.
"No, I have that feeling. But the change is too extreme. Yesterday, this person had no wrinkles and his eyes weren't this hollow right? Even though he was a little ugly, his appearance was similar to a middle-aged man, not this ugly-looking wrinkled man. And looking at this corpse, it is like. . ."
". . . Aged all of sudden. Are they really the same person or it is a weird coincidence? Since it is a little weird for someone to age all of sudden in one day." There was a little fear in Peng Zhen's voice, and she was not the only one to feel it that way. Zheng Yi and Zheng Zhanglie were the same.
But even so, there was a curiosity besides the fear that Peng Zhen felt.
[It is weird, very very weird. But the proof is right in front of me – I can inspect every corner of the corpse to make sure of my conjecture. But from my guts feeling, this corpse and that bastard from yesterday are the same people.] Even though this case was a little eerie, Peng Zhen was not completely scared. She was filled with curiosity in this kind of thing – the wonder of the world.
Perhaps, if she never left the place, she would never meet with this kind of situation. And even if she told this story to someone else, she would be dismissed as a lier or even worse, a swindler.
She was akin to a young hawkling leaving its nest for the first time.
But while the three of them were in their own thinking, Mingyue chimed in, "I believe that this person is the same person as that bastard, even though I never meet him. But there is one thing that I am sure. The appearance is more like the side effect."
The other three were a little surprise of Mingyue's word. Or more precisely, they were surprised that she didn't act like a pampered little girl as usual. And of course, Mingyue realized these gazes and made an excuse.
"No need to mind me. This is only my point of view as a healer. Unlike any other people, I learn many things about the human's body and composition in order to maximize my healing capability. No need to be that surprised like that." grinned Mingyue, showing her childish expression while randomly making up a reason.
But it was true that a healer would be able to perform better if he or she could identify and focus on the wound rather than healing the overall.
"Eh? You have to learn something like that?" Peng Zhen was surprised, not expecting that kind of thing. She herself was only a newcomer, without any knowledge about anything. Mingyue's sentence could be said to widen her knowledge.
But for Mingyue, she only knew about it from Miss Chen, the beautiful and curvy receptionist from Black Iron City. From the latter's explanation, healing someone would depend on the healer's knowledge of human's structure. With the right knowledge, a healer could lessen the wounded patient's recovery time by a big margin.
Healing ability was not an omnipotent skill, but rather required the high knowledge and delicate Elemental manipulation in order to heal someone.
"Un. That's why a high-level healer is kind of rare. From big sis Chen's story, there is no high-level healer even in the Black Iron City. And most of the high-level healers are monopolized by nobilities, making commoners like us never saw any of them." Mingyue shrugged her shoulders, but she didn't dwell on this topic. "And from this corpse's condition, it is more like his vitality is absorbed. No, he was drained until he is no different from a bag of skin."
"But, he isn't like a mummy at all." Zheng Yi poked on the corpse's wrinkled body a few times. "See, there is some meat under the skin."
Mingyue wanted to laugh, but she just giggled and explained, "Of course. I said that his vitality is drained until he was dry, not his meat."
"Hahaha." After letting out a crazed laugh as if one's nemesis had finally died by her hand, Zheng Yi's mood was getting better. "Consider it as our revenge for this group of bastards! Your trick us! Endanger us! Never cross in our mind that all of you are a piece of scum, human degenerates!"
"Ah, how about the other two corpses?"
"The same group of bastards." Zheng Zhanglie came along with a few pieces of armour in his hands. "Three of them are dead already. But the others aren't here. Perhaps. . ."
[Unfortunately, the four of them were slain, while another two were also slain a little earlier.] Mingyue retorted in her mind. But she wouldn't reveal that to them.
The nine people were safe and sound because Liao Yun arrived in the bad time. No, perhaps it was a good time since the number of puppets didn't increase with her timely intervention. Or else, Mingyue had to make her move in front of other's eyes.
"No need to think about them anymore. It's not like that we sure will meet them again. And even if it is the opposite, we will not fall into their another trap." Zheng Yi scoffed while continued kicking on the corpse's head.
Their conversation was ended as they looted every piece of armour and weapon there.
Even though the trio Zheng Yi, Zheng Zhanglie, and Peng Zhen a little bad for looting these things from a corpse, but after knowing the truth, they were happy to clean them up.
…
