Chapter 2: The test was right

They decided that some people should stay here. Only Liam and Rei got on the elevator, pushing to the seventh floor.

He felt like he has seen... I mean 'read' this scene before.... before he could think more, the elevator made a small sound telling him that he was now on the seventh floor.

Welcome to the seventh floor, we have four guests today]

They planned to go to the seventh floor because the seventh floor is where an apartment for people to live exists, making it easier to get supplies. The moment the elevator door opened, the silent hallway greeted us.

"This feels like some abandoned apartment..." Liam said while opening one of the apartment's doors. "I don't think anybody is in this apartment" Liam fully opened the door and stepped inside. "Yep, nobody in here for sure.... why are you still out in the hallway?" Liam poked his head out and saw Rei staring at something. "?"

Meanwhile, in Rei's head, he almost fainted.... he felt that someone was staring at him so he looked back to see.... a man... a man with black hair and purple eyes... "uh... excuse me, is your name perhaps Noah and you live in apartment 902?" He let out a voice, slightly shaking.

The man said the least answer Rei wanted, "how do you know that?"

Of course, Rei knows this man very well... the man is also like him, but not like him at the same time... how does he know? "..." because.... this character, this plot.... is exactly like the Webnovel he wrote for fun. I can tell you this for now: I... I mean Rei, thought everyone dying is the perfect ending. Rei thought the villain was cool and.... "shoot..." he's the first zombie.... the whole zombie apocalypse will end if the first one dies, the MC was trying to give up on the idea of killing the first zombie since there's no way you can find that person in this whole earth easily, so he focuses on the half-monster half-human that he found in the 3rd floor to create a vaccine... but the half-half turns fully into a zombie... now the only hope was killing the first zombie.... but Rei wrote himself as that character, of course, he'll be the strongest... and everyone dies happily ever after the end. Now he regrets writing the story so... absurd? But he's not some saint that sacrifices his life for the good of humanity blah blah blah. he's going to stick to the MC, mooch off and live a comfortable life. Ah wait, did I forget to tell you that Noah can turn back to the time the apocalypse just happened once he dies? Now you know. Rei wasn't sure which try the MC is on, but he definitely didn't find out that he is the first zombie yet...

"Earth to Rei?" Liam waved his hands over Rei's face.

"We decided to follow this Noah guy and Rowan, to help find Rowan's little sister remember?" Liam informed him of what happened, making Rei remember it now.

I remember" this is also the time when the MC finds the half-half, also how the doctor has been experimenting on people so.... this Rowan guy's little sister drunk the rainwater and is... Rei waved those thoughts out. He didn't even notice they arrived until the familiar voice of the elevator sounded.

This floor is where the MC should have met Liam, this floor is one of the main events.

They walked to the front test, and a nurse standing there spoke exactly as Rei guessed, "please take this receipt and wait for your number to be called."

"We heard that a doctor to my little sister, is she here?" Rowan asked in a panicking voice.

"Please take this receipt and wait for your number to be called."

The words the nurse spoke were actually funny, given that the whole hospital lobby was empty. In the original story, the MC and Rowan just burst into the doctor's office, ask him nicely and find Rowan's sister-

"Don't worry, I won't shoot you with this gun.... might do if you don't tell us where the little girl is" Liam pointed his gun at the doctor which even Rei didn't know why he wrote the bunch of office workers finding a gun in their storage room.

"W-w-wait! You crazy- I meant nice people!" The doctor shrieked in the middle of his sentence where the MC hold his gun closer to the doctor, "room 47! 47! Here's the key!"

We quickly rushed to room 47... Rei couldn't help but feel uncomfortable since he knew what would happen... with a small click, the door opened. Step by step, they entered the room to see a young girl laying on the hospital bed. Next to her bed, was a glass cup that contained...

"Mai! Are you hurt??" Rowan asked her in a worried tone.

"Brother? I... I feel... weird..."

"What?! Where does it hurt?" Rowan started panicking a little.

"The drugs here... I've never seen them in hospitals... those... are not used for normal hospitals..." Liam spoke since he works as a nurse. Wait, did I not tell you that this nice gentleman that points his gun at people is a nurse?

"! Mia, did they make you drink, or gave you something weird?"

"I... they did give me a cup of water to drink..."

Noah grabbed the cup that was next to her bed and investigated... "this... I think this is the rainwater outside mixed with other things." Noah didn't even take a minute to clearly see the cup to see what it was. After all, the MC probably threatened and found out in his last life.

"How... h..." Rowan was at loss for words.

"We should try to talk to the doctor again? He might know how to..." Noah grabbed Rowan lightly to make him stand up. He knew there isn't a chance to save her.... but after all the things Rowan did to help him, he can't leave him here.

Rowan rushed to the doctor, anger clearly being seen. "What did you do to Mia?!"

"Follow me." The doctor only said that word and walked to a room located at the end of the hall. Gesturing to the nurse we met at the front desk to follow too, "you see him right?"

He opened the door, showing a man tied to the bed. Squirming in pain, asking out for help. "Look at him! Half of his face and body are like that that a monster! Creating a vaccine is possible you know? Your little sister was a sacrifice for the greater good, I'm sure she's happy too!" The man opened his arms, smiling like he had some screws loose. Actually, the doctor did have some screws loose.

"Y-you! Do you call yourself a doctor? What did Mia do? She-" Rowan's angry voice got cut off by a loud sound of gun firing, making a hole right next to the doctor... "find a way to cure her, we can cooperate nicely right?" Liam's voice was soft and warm, unlike the cold eyes he had on.

"Ha! She's just a failed experiment, I have no way to save her! Thanks to her, at least I got close to making a vaccine. All those basters that said I was crazy and left will see!"

I change my words, he doesn't have a screw loose... he didn't have a screw to loose in the first place. "I wonder where your parents rolled around to get a mutant like you-" Liam stopped me from saying more since he knew how far I can curse, than he locked the doctor up in one of the hospital rooms. (With the nurse he was with)

"Should we save this half guy?" Rei asked, acting just like the faithful extra... (which he was not.)

"As the doctor said, he could be the hope of creating a vaccine. Let's bring him with us"

Noah said.

"He will probably take some time until he wakes up from the anesthesia" our nice Liam the nurse informed us.

"Let's check on Mia," Noah said, already walking out of the room.

Mia was still laying on the bed just like how we first saw her here. "Mia's still looking fine... she could be immune just like that man we found!" Rowan spoke his hope, hope that his little sister will be fine. "I... I'll stay here with Mia" Rowan knew his little sister could bring harm to others...

"No, we're bringing her with us," Noah said and started walking out again.

"Huh? But..." Rowan stopped his words and quietly followed Noah out, grabbing his sister's hand tightly.

Watching all this, Rei felt like he was a scum of the earth... Rowan's words are right, his little sister did nothing wrong... she was just an extra he wrote to fill in plots...
