Chapter 13: Company
"Ah, you are surprisingly strong for a user at your level..."
The young man frowned, seemingly in thought and glanced behind Amaris. She was curious so she looked behind herself too.
Another figure in a dark green cloak stood not too far away on a branch.
"I see you've finally stopped playing around. Ren, you of all people should know the importance of keeping your mouth shut and following the rules!"
The figure snarled angrily and jumped off the branch. He flew a few feet and landed on the branch Amaris was perched on.
She let out a little yelp and backed up against the tree. Ren chuckled and looked at the new arrival.
"Yo big brother~ Why do you have to be so uptight? Just let loose for once. It's not like this little chick who has just started being a user could do anything to me, who has been practicing for 10 years!"
The unknown figure laughed condescendingly.
"Even I could finish you off easily! Don't go getting cocky!"
He turned towards Amaris.
"Young lady, we were assigned to take you back to the sanctuary. Please do not show resistants or we will resort to force."
His chilling gaze caused Amaris to shiver. She hesitantly nodded her head in understanding and waited for the two men to make a move.
Ren looked over at the cloaked figure and smiled.
"Wow, you really have a way with words!"
The figure did not respond and instead, he gestured for Amaris to follow as he lept of the branch and landed quietly on the ground below.
Ren followed suit and only after he landed Amaris jumped as well. With the cloaked figure in the lead, Amaris and Ren followed quickly and quietly behind.
Not once did the group show any signs of using abilities but somehow the group never stopped.
