Chapter 4: 1. A task ahead
The night was expected cold, but in reality it wasn't that much, which felt comfortable for a change. That left our three fella in kind of high spirits, even Kil was grinning her shiny blue fangs out for the rising sun.
„I kind of wonder, why Kil is that glorious compared to other of her kind…" Vile asked.
„I just fed her not only with quality meat, but also my mana. I even helped her grow by enforcing my life force onto her."
„You are crazed fella if you shorten your life for an animal." She replied.
„Not much, my lifespan got prolonged due to that, huh?"
„True, but weird anyways." Conversation was followed by a brief silence.
In short time they managed to pack their stuff and leave no trace of their encampment, throwing dirt into the fireplace.
It was going to be a clear, sunny day, so the mood was kind of good, despite the tension. Luckily the concealing of Sil's presence worked unexpectingly proper, and was maintained by both travelers.
„Ya know: Kil is only a cub now, she will grow further." Sil said.
„!wha! So she will grow that big she could lift off the ground with you on her back?!?"
„She already can do that." He replied grinning.
„How do you weight then, 500 Haka?" Vile asked.
„I'm 358 Haka, so I'm lightfoot kind." Sil said cheering.
„You must be kidding…"
„No, its true, you could lift me by yourself if you wanted to."
„But you look like a middleweight!" She couldn't believe her ears.
„You can try this time, might be only chance."
„Right." She stood up and grabbed Sil by his collar with both hands.
„Gods! You really are tenderfoot weight!"
„Now you see, place me down." She dropped him back onto ground.
„You weight more than me, but are much bulkier!"
„It's gravity magick." Sil replied smirking.'
„I can be in diameter of 250 to 1000 Haka."
„You learnt to use gravity magick that age, amusing!" Vile shouted.
„Silent, I thought somebody's coming." Sil whispered.
They took cower to see a middle aged man walking thro and forth.
„I know you're here little bastards, show yourself now, or I will tell your parents to beat a c**p out of you!" He shouted.
„If you'd excuse, we were just wandering thro the night, and had to break a camp." Sil explained.
„Ah, sorry, I thought you are some little fellas that keep eating fruit from my orchard." Man said smiling.
„I'm Vile and that's Sil, we also have pet with us." She said exposing Kil for sight of the fella.
He froze for a moment. „I wouldn't call it a pet, rather a tamed beast. I see you are sort of mercenaries, good for you, coz we could have a well-paid work for you."
„We listen, what bothers you?" Sil asked simply.
„We got problem with a beast haunting our forest, It already killed one hired armsman and injured two other, but I think you'll do just fine with that 'pet' of yours."
„Right, will we get a quarter for a living for the task's span?"
„Yes, we got a room for your kind." Man said and lead them to the village.
