It took them some time to arrive at their building, and once they did and the moment Luna stepped in the entrance, every pair of eyes were on her. instead of feeling shy and anxious, she walked with pride, chin up, and posture straight. Not because she wanted to follow her mother's rule of decency, but because she is someone better than her own mother, and that if she will lead this business, she'll do better than her. she has a stern but strong look on her face that says "boss". After a few more steps, they stopped, and her mother spoke. "Everyone listen up. I want all of my leading agents in the meeting room, now," she said, loud enough for everyone to hear. After announcing, her mother walked ahead and into a room that Luna guessed is the meeting room. Her mother's so-called "leading agents" are seated around a big table, chatting and talking, until Luna and her parents walked in, and everyone fell silent. "sit down in front" her father whispered to her softly, and she obediently followed him since he hasn't done anything wrong towards her. once she was seated, her parents stood in front. "better listen up, I have a very important announcement" her father stated, her mother standing beside him. "As you can see, our daughter, Luna Crawford, is here right now, and I want everyone in this room to know why," he said. "starting from now on, Luna will be the new CEO of this business" her father mentioned, emphasizing the important news. Everyone, including her own mother, gasped, for this was not part of her plan. Luna, however, got caught off guard and just sat there still. Everyone started to chat and comment on the new CEO. "I am not done. Luna, my dear, please stand up" her father instructed. She slowly stood up and everyone looked at her. "you will be looking around the building. Make sure you get every single detail. Understood?" he said, earning a slow nod from Luna. "everybody is dismissed," her father said, and everyone in the room walked out of the room, except for them. "what the hell John!" her mother yelled once everyone has exited the room. Her father just stood there and looked at her mother, expressionless. Luna just stood there, looking at them both with a bold expression on her face. Her mother noticed that Luna was still in the room. "we will continue this conversation at home later" her mother stated and aggressively walks out of the room. Her father heaved an exhausted sigh and walked out of the room as well. "Woah, what was that," both Kelly and Adrien said. "I have no clue. I am dumbfounded here" Luna responded. "well, at least you're a CEO, I guess," Kelly said, trying to look at the bright side. "Uhuh, sure. I'll get back to you two later, I'm going to look around. I think I know what my father is trying to tell me," Luna said before walking out of the room.
She started to observe the floor she's on. it just seemed to her like the floor is where the average agents are, like a call center. "she's definitely hiding something" she said under her breath. She then walked towards an elevator and walked in once it opened. She pressed the top floor button, but it didn't light up like it's supposed to. Luna was confused as to why not everyone can go to the floor. As she was thinking, an agent walked in the elevator. Luna recognized him for he was in the meeting room earlier. "hey, why can't I go to the top floor?" she asked. The agent scoffed and smirked boldly. "only leading agents are allowed there, sweetheart. Soft girls are not allowed" he said. Luna just gave him a poker face before easily head locking him. "pardon me. I didn't quite understand what you just said. Will you repeat it for me?" she said as she tightens her grip. "Okay! I'll take you to the top, just let me go" the agent begged. "that's what I want to hear. Now hurry up, I don't have all day" she said as she lets him go. The guy huffs a breath before tapping his I.D on the area below the buttons, activating the top floor button, and pressing it afterward.
After a few moments of waiting, they finally arrived at the top floor. The guy stepped out first and gestured Luna to step out of the elevator. "welcome to the top floor madam" he said, letting Luna walk past him. "what do you guys do in here?" Luna asked as she walks around the floor. Most of the people in the area have their eyes glued on her, but she glared at each one to make them stop staring. "this is where we receive requests from people from all around the world. People who offer us millions to billions of dollars if we kill their targets. After receiving a request, we'll instruct the people at the bottom floors to search for clients that want to do the job and make a deal with them" the agent explained. Luna just nodded and kept looking around. She stops at one stall, observing the agent closely as she receives a "request" from some guy in Italy. The agent felt Luna's presence and got irritated. "will you mind your own business?" she hissed at Luna. "you shouldn't have done that Stephanie" the agent who helped Luna in getting on the top floor. "why? I'm not scared of some bitchy girl. I don't give a damn if she's the daughter and the new CEO. She's nothing to me" the agent, Stephanie, said as she walks closer and closer to Luna until her face is inches away from Luna's. Luna smirked and scoffed before harshly grabbing her chin and digging her fingers on her cheeks with her right hand. "well, flash-news honey. I am not just some bitchy CEO. So, if you'll please stop looking down on someone you don't know, I would highly appreciate that" Luna said with a stern tone as she tightens her grip, like what she did to the first agent. All eyes that are filled with intimidation and fear were now on her, but she didn't mind. "it hurts! I'll stop, please let me go!" Stephanie pleaded, tears already falling from her eyes. "that's what I thought" Luna said and lets her go. "Now everyone, go back to work!" she added before walking away and into the elevator. She didn't need an I.D to go to the basement, so she easily pressed the floor button and went down the basement to meet her parents in the car.
"what took you so long?" her mother asked irritably as Luna enters the car. "you said you wanted me to look around, so I looked around, duh" Luna responded with sarcasm written all over her face. "why so salty though?" Kelly asked, making Luna hold in her chuckle.
The drive back to their house was quiet, but Luna can feel the tension between her parents. After a few minutes, they finally arrived at their house and Luna was the first one to get out of the car. "I'm back in this stupid place," she said once she entered her room and made sure that her door was locked. "welcome back sweetie! How was school?" Kelly teased, earning a laugh from Luna. "where's Adrien?" she asked as she sits down on the edge of her bed. "I'm right here cupcake" Adrien spoke. "what's up about your father? Kelly told us to spare your father" he added. "yeah, he just seems, off. Not in a bad way, but like, he's not aggressive at me like my mother. And as you heard, he made me the CEO today, instead of waiting for the right time, or for short, waiting for my mother's plan" Luna explained. She was about to speak more when she suddenly heard yelling outside her room. "what was that?" Kelly asked for she heard the noises as well. "I don't know, I'll go out and check," Luna said. "be careful," Adrien said. "I'm not a child" Luna responded as she slowly walks towards her door. She slowly opens the door and heard the yelling getting louder. "ugh, they're just arguing" she mumbled to herself. She was about to close the door when she suddenly heard her name being said by her father.
"You can't keep on doing this to Luna!" her father yelled. "Are you blind, John?! We're talking about money here, and you're shrugging it off because of your stupid daughter?!" her mother yelled back. Luna became confused. "your stupid daughter"? Am I not your daughter as well?" she thought before walking out of her room quietly and quietly walked towards the stairs to hear more of the conversation. She sat on the staircase, making sure her parents won't see her. "You're supposed to love her like she's your own, Mary! You promised me that!" John yelled. "Did you really think I was onto you because I wanted a family? Hell no. I knew how rich you were back then, and I actually helped you become richer by creating this company of ours. We're so close to beating your brother! So why block the damn way?!" her mother yelled back. "I never said I wanted to beat him! It was your stupid idea. I love my brother, and I love my daughter. What you're doing is affecting her. look what you made her do. She ran away because you're an asshole. You never showed love and affection towards her, which you are supposed to do" John ranted. "John, for the hundredth time, we're talking money here! I thought you wanted to be as rich as your brother? So why are you so damned about it just because of Luna?" her mother asked. "Because it's affecting her! I didn't want her to turn into who she is right now. I wanted her to have a memorable and happy childhood. I wanted her to feel like she's home. I wanted her to feel loved by her family. I wanted to be rich because I wanted what's best for her. but you ruined her, Mary! You ruined her!" her father defended, making Luna get caught off guard. "you're pathetic, John. You can mess this up, but better not mess up the wedding. Once she's married, the Cunnings will stop bothering us. Keep that in mind" her mother said before walking out of the door, outside the house. "You asshole!" her father yelled. Luna felt so confused. She wanted answers, she needs answers, and she knows she has the right to know.
She slowly walked downstairs, where she sees her father kneeling on the floor, his face buried in his hands. "I'm so sorry Luna. I am such a coward" he said to himself. For the first time, Luna felt bad about her father. She felt the urge to comfort him, so she tried. She walked towards him and kneeled beside him. John probably felt her presence for he suddenly looked at his side to see who kneeled beside him. "dear? Did we wake you up?" he asked worriedly, immediately wiping his tears. Luna smiled a little and shook her head. John heaved a long sigh before speaking again. "you heard everything, didn't you?" he asked. Instead of answering him verbally, Luna launched herself onto him and gave him a tight hug. John got caught off guard, but soon hugged her back. "I wish you've told me sooner" Luna whispered as a tear escaped her eye.
