Synopsis of Obscura

In the industrial steam-powered city of Arugula, seventeen-year-old Alarich Zauberwal lives between two worlds: the ordinary life of an academy student and the hidden reality of ancient sorcery, forgotten gods, and cosmic pathways.
While studying at the prestigious Aethernos Academy alongside his energetic sister Hilda, Alarich becomes drawn toward mysteries tied to the legendary founder Aethernos and the immortal sorcerer Professor Shirogane. During a lecture on advanced magic, Shirogane senses something abnormal within Alarich: a rare force known as the “Fog of Mystery,” a power tied not merely to magic, but to memory, identity, and reality itself.
As strange visions begin haunting him—skeletal eyes in mirrors, riddles from forgotten entities, ancient books that write themselves, and whispers from beings beyond time—Alarich discovers that his family bloodline carries the legacy of Uki, the first sorcerer of the ancient world. Marked by a mysterious mandala tattoo and guided by cryptic prophecies about the coming “Age of Marile,” he is forced into a hidden war involving Yokai, Pathway Users, lost realms, and cosmic beings known as Concepts.
Through encounters with ancient entities such as Nahara, Auron, Snowly, and The Tower, Alarich learns that magic is not simply energy—it is thought given form. The deeper he walks the Pathways, the more he realizes his fog abilities may connect him to something older than gods themselves: a primordial being called “The Concept,” the source of all imagination, sorrow, and existence.
As reality begins to fracture and forgotten realms awaken beneath the world, Alarich must master the dangerous power of soul control, memory shaping, and conceptual magic before the coming catastrophe consumes humanity. But every revelation pushes him closer to a terrifying truth:
The fog is not hiding him from the world.
It is preparing the world for him.
