Tales of the Zodiac - Book 1: Before the Divide
Before gods ruled, Earth was whole.
Life moved by balance alone. Extinction was not evil. Survival was not destiny. The world had no temples, no kingdoms, no sacred laws, and no divine masters. Humans were fragile creatures beneath a sky ruled by giants, but hidden inside them slept a strange unused force — a power the gods would one day name Axiom.
In a flawless realm beyond death, hunger, and consequence, the gods grew restless. Perfection had given them everything except meaning. When they discovered Earth and the mysterious energy within humanity, one hundred and fifty gods crossed the boundary between realms, promising only to observe.
They were wrong.
Their arrival changed the world. Their presence stirred Axiom. Their fear awakened Earth’s oldest rulers. When the giants answered the intrusion with teeth, weight, and hunger, the gods learned they could be hunted. To protect humanity, they raised a field over the people and unleashed a purge that ended the age of giants forever.
But survival came with a cost.
The gods saved humanity, then divided it. Twelve islands. Ten sections each. One hundred and twenty gods. One hundred and twenty beginnings. Humanity was measured, separated, and led into lands that would become the first dominions.
Axiom does not obey desire.
It obeys meaning.
And as gods, mortals, land, memory, and belief begin to bind together, the divided world takes its first step toward kingdoms, religions, armies, myths, and war.
Tales of the Zodiac: Before the Divide is the origin of a world where belief can become law, survival can become worship, and gods who came seeking meaning become rulers of a reality they do not fully understand.
