Exactly, he is not convinced and this is just an early theory he is bouncing around as he finds the timing of things to be a little odd.
It almost seems like someone tried to assassinate the owners of the largest fleets in Westeros just before Volantis plans to start a war in the newly claimed lands on the other side of the Narrow Sea.

Corlys and Lord Greyjoy 110% captain their own ships my guy, he is just making guesses with the limited info he has to potentially make connections that may or may not be there, he is not stating this as fact.

Volantis after the Doom claimed a bunch of land but eventually lost it to a coalition of people which even included Aegon riding Balerion the Black Dread.
A Deal was made with a Dothraki Khal as well as a new Slave army has been bought from Astapor. The Tigers have already seized control of the city by having three of their members sit as the elected Triarchy, something that has not happened since the century of blood. This means there could be upwards of thirty or forty thousand men under the Tiger's banner, getting ready to reclaim the lands they lost more than a hundred years ago.

I watch him lightly toss our Son toward the middle of the bed, Aerys bounces once and immediately tries to roll away from his Father but is too slow. Daeron kicks off his boots in record time and leaps across the bed stopping Aerys from rolling off by grabbing his little foot. I shake my head as Daeron turns back with wide eyes to look at me, I can practically see it in his eyes 'Did she see that?'.

This is true, the Maester however does not care in the slightest as the only one of those who was an 'official' member with a 'real seat' was a Witch from Essos.
"There has never been a Lady to sit on the Small Council..." He speaks up quickly while leaning forward a bit, avoiding looking in Rhaenyra's direction. "Nor has there been a Northman." I actually nod at his words and look toward the King.

"Yes..." Viserys runs a hand through his hair after taking off his crown and setting it on the table. "Lord Corlys has died." The King hands over the message but I can't even move as his words register in my mind.

I might one day, but Daeron trains and practices his water bending all of the time in preparation to hopefully one day teach his kids. (He does not know for a fact if they will inherit his water bending, at least not all of them so he is being hopeful)

"Like her siblings, Visenya possessed the classical Valyrian features: long, silver-gold hair, which she often braided or bound up in rings, and purple eyes." taken from Visenya's official wiki "Rhaenyra had her family's Valyrian looks, wearing her silver-gold hair in a long braid in the manner of Queen Visenya Targaryen" - taken from Rhaenyra's official wiki... I don't know what photos you are talking about but I always picture Visenya with a braid due to what the wiki has said multiple times about her apperance.
She loves the stories of Queen Visenya, she even braids her hair like Visenya was said to do.

I can see how you would get confused by how I wrote it but he is saying he wants the ships in general. The various exotic woods of which they have many is just a side note, he knows they don't use there 'magic' golden wood for the swan ships.
Maybe not for a fleet which is what I was hoping to work toward, the ships from the Summer Isles are some of the best after all. But I can still trade their exotic lumber to rich Lords on the East of Westeros and rich merchants on the west side of Essos.

They are also the only 2 who have actually died thus far and did so within a few days of one another. With this in mind plus the news of Lord Manderly becoming bedridden and the movements of the Tigers in Volantis... it is looking like something unnatural is going on and he is trying to make sense of it. If it was Lord Redwyne and Lord Lannister who kicked the bucket he wouldn't think its an attack to cripple Westeros naval power because both of them likely do not sail at the heads of there fleets other than to look good and probably have people under them doing the actual leading. But with it being Corlys and the leader of the Iron Islands... its suspicious.
