The story of Noah Smith engulfs his life and baffles his thoughts, as he encounters challenges. First, he lives as a pauper, belittled and despised by even his people. His father-in-law, Cooper, also confronts him on several occasions to be responsible and find a job, which he later sees as something necessary to do.
