A lot of the lore reads like it was written while on drugs, and I'm fairly certain a good amount of it was.
Speaking of race, what was with the deal with the sub-race section? Did that mean he had enough nordic blood running through him to reap some of the benefits? They were known for being resilient to the cold. That would've been useful on the mountain. And what were the chances that it meant he was Dragonborn?

As of Ch.20, I am very happy with this. This is the author taking a great premise from another work, but writing it their way, and thank God for that. I constantly come across fics with amazing premises, only to be let down by terrible writing, unlikeable MC, or some idiot locking the fic behind a patreon pay wall. I wish more writers would do what this author did, I can't wait for the story to progress further. I'll be watching for updates to this closely. Keep up the great work!
Don't let it worry you too much. I hate it when I come across an amazing premise that's ruined by bad writing/characters. I'm glad you made this premise your own, cause if this was a straight translations, I would have hated it by the way you describe it.

I think it was heavily implied before it was stated. Egerea was the mother/leader of Oceanids, and Focalors was a follower of her, so it would make sense if she was an Oceanid.
