I didn't say the Sharingan can copy affinities, I said it could copy jutsu (although I misspelt it as juts instead) you also said the same thing about copying jutsu so I assume there was a misunderstanding somewhere.
And since he didn't have Water-style chakra, he couldn't use the Sharingan's copying ability to fight on equal footing.
