In the summoning trial period, Sylas joined the initial quest announced by Casstle Main city together with three other adventurers. Two of them were traitors (Alex and the girl that stole Cassare's luck necklace) and one of them was not a traitor - Morgan. He was an older dude, warrior, some kind of a professor IRL. It seems to me that the author doesn't speak math here. Hunger timer reduced by 100% means that the timer will be 0 (100-100=0), leading to instant death for Sylas. Then, hunger will be triggered infinitely many times in the first time unit (division by zero) until Sylas runs out of genes).
