So, gradually Kevin is maturing. Not taking a single step hastily. Good sign.
In a hostage situation, the element of surprise was the key to success. If Kevin could get the drop on his enemies and enter undetected he would have a much easier time rescuing the hostages. The machines would most certainly be expecting him at the front door. Going in through the alternate entrances was a lot safer.
