[Trivia again: 18 is the legal age in Japan, but the alcohol intake age is 20. As for why? Originally, the legal age in Japan was 20 since the Meiji era—around 1868 or something. It was only lowered to 18 in 2022, so yeah, let's just say society is still used to 20 being the drinking age.
