You raised a good point. There is not really a way for others to sense the rank of other warriors except when the person in question uses their spirit energy. Most of the time, Aru doesn't, even in combat. He tries to deal with the problem on his own(basically using his muscles). The relationship between aura and spirit energy is like the relationship between electricity and magnetic field. For example when current flows, it generates a magnetic field around it. And likewise, when spirit energy flows, it creates an aura field around it. The more spirit energy there is, the stronger the aura. My point is that Aru doesn't use spirit energy unless it's necessary. The other point. Warriors can only sense if the other party has less spirit energy than themselves. The measurement of exact rank is impossible. So, someone who wants to hide his rank can. However, there are exceptions to this.
