how can one ask his/her daughter to marry someone whose name they don't even reveal to her? is it such a huge secret?

"Xin Mei, don't think this marriage as a deal but think this as a marriage proposal which is found by us. I am sure he will be a good groom for you. Tomorrow, visit aunt Bai, meet her and her grandson. Then you can decide if you want this marriage or not." He Lin spoke in an attempt to motivate her daughter.

in other parts of the story, when there is a change in setting/location, there are 2 blank line spaces to indicate the change. in this case ( and several others), there is no similar indication and one would assume that the next paragraph is a continuation of the narrative in the previous paragraph. but reading further on, one will realize that the paragraph is about a totally different narrative. in this case, we have one paragraph talking about Yi Shuyan and the next about Lao San and her daughter, 2 new characters without any introduction on how they fit in the story, in an entirely different location. I guess that's where my confusion lies. by the way, Lin Quingquing behaving and knowing her place in this chapter is a nice touch. And Lin Yaoha! Perhaps this mother daughter duo may still have some sort of redemption in the story. I'm even looking forward to when Yaoha can stand up straight, look at the Lin family in their eyes and make them realize how badly they have treated her (Yaoha).

What happened here? I am confused. I was reading: Yi Shuyan could manage teaching on her own. The two of them usually did this. This is followed by: “Here sir,” she said as she gave the security personnel her ID and visiting card. They checked her things … She didn’t want to be here. So I start thinking that the school has a very tight security. And why does Yi Shuyan not want to be there? Just 6 sentences before this, it says Yi Suyan could manage teaching on her own. I assume she likes teaching. And then we have the next sentence: Jao Ying didn’t think she’ll ever get used to coming to this place. So, okay, it is Jao Ying who gave the security personnel her ID and visiting card, not Yi Shuyan. Why do we have these 4 sentences about Jao Tong having a day off and Yi Shuyan being okay with it in this part of chapter 39? So who is Jao Ying? And we have Lao San, her mother. Lao San has been in the mental institution for a couple of years (a couple of years = 2 years). She has seen Jao Ying grow up from a kid to an adult but she doesn’t remember who Jao Ying is.

This story could very easily be like the usual online “rebirth” novels that follow the same plot – female lead had a miserable life caused by an envious/scheming relative or a fake best friend who either wants her money/inheritance or her man, dies, gets reborn, changes how she lives her life and gets her revenge on the people who caused her death. What makes this story stand out from among the ones I’ve read is the way this story is written. Reading this story evokes the warm feeling of listening to a storyteller with a soft and gentle voice, almost wistful, narrating a memory, recalling the scenes, thoughts and emotions of the characters, almost nostalgic. The story opens with Yue Ling’s rebirth, and I wonder about the person that she is in her past life. Was she a bad person? There are hints – she thinks that “her life had nothing much to be proud of”, her miserable end was because “karma hit hard”, and that she is “a sinner”. One thing sure was that she had a miserable past life – “they all won and she died”. But she had good friends – the Kai siblings – and loyal family from her mother’s side. Her Lin family is a different story all together. They must be the “they” in “they all won and she died”. Yaoha and Quingquing are mean but Meilin is evil. Being manipulated by her “uncle” doesn’t shift the blame, she is evil even before she met her “uncle”. Poverty does not make one evil either. Although the situation of Yaoha and Quingquing in the Lin family does not excuse their meanness, it explains how they became what they are. It is easy to empathize with them, it is not easy to look in from the outside when you are actually inside. So I wonder why Old lady Lin treats them the way she does. Old lady Lin can only be part of the reason the mother-daughter pair ended as how they are. Lin Jingxuan is puzzling; it is hard to understand his silence about Meilin and the breakup of his family. It is hard to understand why a husband cannot talk to his wife about important issues that impact on their marriage. It feels weird, but somehow I am comforted to know how Yaoha and Quingquing became mean, like an issue, for me, has been resolved.

to manage expectations, it would be good if readers know when new chapters will be added. it is starting to get frustrating to come to this page and see no updates

could be a good story. the development of the plot can be interesting in some parts but there are parts that are so cringeworthy that i needed to take a break from reading it, particularly the parts when one gets the impression that conflicts are written into the story just to keep it lengthy. there are chapters that can be skipped and the story won't be affected that much. there are some cringeworthy parts, too like the part where you have the stepsister roving around and saying she is not the fake daughter is just pushing it. yes, you hate her for her schemes, etc. but not to the point that you'd want her insane and wandering about
