what does he look like? Will his human form began to mutate and change due to the effects of his transformations like grow bigger gain inhuman features like elf ears, horns, wings, extra arms, tatoos or slowly become pure energy that just transforms into what he wants over time like a spirit.

he could become a merman and control water and talk to sea creatures to gather treasures and artifacts or a Atlantian from young justice so he can look for Neptune trident. he can become a niffler from harry potter to find treasure on land as there small and weak. he could turn into to a weak ghost from Danny phantom so he can have access to invisibility, flight, and intangibility.

how about you have him take the form of a anodite from ben 10 as they don't have physical bodies and are made of pure magic and are really powerful and can absorb life and magic which will be helpful if he meets sorcerer's and learn magic? he can take the form of the blacklight virus from the game blackligh and break a piece of it off then inject in his human form to strengthen his body or use the virus transformation to consume biomass and get stronger and heal his body continuously.
