They definitely are not unaware of it as the sect has been there for thousands of years a bunch of the elders were probably in the outer, inner or core divisions and managed to get themselves up to the position of elder and it’s not really “working” it just hanging in there because the elders don’t want to change things/make things easier for the next gen probably because they want them to experience what they did. If things were to change there would definitely be more talents found and more people on the level of the current elders and the actual elders would be a lot stronger.
