While the author isn’t necessarily wrong, but you’re correct. Without 51% shares in the company, he can’t make unilateral decisions. With 35%, being the largest shareholder, the others can’t ignore what he says but they don’t have to blindly follow it either. With 51% whatever he decides, they would have to follow because he owns majority share, basically owning the company.
I ended up bying 35% of the company, in other words I invested/paid 17.5 billion dollars in this huge project. It is the biggest share making me the one with the highest control and authority in the company. The other men had 23%, 17% while the last one has 15%.
