I wonder if this has any deeper meaning at all. Right now he has his bloodlines intuition, but back then he didn’t yet he still felt the same feelings. Perhaps this has something to do with what was described with ruby and him as kids - how they both adopted their parental figure’s features Maybe there’s something about ruby and him, more than just being soulmates…?

No, we were shown earlier in the book that Jake got exhausted after only a second or two of fighting, but in that second lots of stuff happened because of how fast everyone moved. This just means that it’s more exacerbated at even higher levels
