I think age doesn't matter because according to the wiki, Desir's age when he entered academy is 16 y/o while Adjest is 18-19 y/o
I mean, if you can't stand it, you can just drop it? I'm used to writing a slow-paced novel that is built up slowly. If this not to your taste then I could only apologize, those who have read my previous novels knows that I like taking it at my own pace. I don't want a novel that just go bonk here bonk there rest a little then bonk here and bonk there again, its a repetitive poison for me at least and I don't want that. As for the "Journey Across Worlds" that you're saying, the MC knows how dangerous a shadow world could be that's why he's cautious and won't move without thinking of a solid plan or preparations, I suggest you search for the meaning of the shadow world in the wiki of Returner's magic should be special. There are risks to entering a shadow world and you could only leave that world if you cleared the objective of the shadow world, if you die, there's no such thing as reset and return back to your own world and act like nothing happened.
It depends on your range of novels actually. If you like novels where the MC will have to go the long way to change history then its for you. If you also like a war arc that has 30-50 chapters before it finishes, then its also for you.
I've been reading the novel Amber Sword to learn more about noble politics and Imma say, I'm not quite disappointed but what made me sigh is the freaking long wars dammit. Its like you got a trap card, I got a trap card, hey coincidentally I have a trap card for your trap card, kind of thing.
