it isn't that simple. when you write a name in Chinese each name is a symbol. But the name may look the same in English, but be pronounced differently. As an example, they state at the beginning that Mo Fan is written like the Fan in (平凡
Píng Fán), so his name would be written like Mò Fán (莫 凡). This would look completely different than how it was written if Fan was his family name, which would be (范 Fàn). The only reason it looks the same to us is that it has been translated into English.
