Its a Scythe and (from the benefit of hindsight) its coming
"So, I'm going to make a scythe, huh?" I spoke to no one else but myself, finally allowing my eyes to move back to the selection of the materials accessible to me that I'd worked hard to neatly display directly on the floor.

I never really thought about it like that but well, in a sense... yeah >.>
Instead, each outburst of her now chaotic core would instantly vanish, its fierceness drawn away to one of the thousands of points of contact now littered all over her body, all of its minuscule energy drained by the points Tim made and serving to reinforce that specific part of her flesh.

I do not keepo the detailed records of everything for this novel (like, what chapter comes with what advances) so I can't say for sure but from the top of my head, I believe this here is a typo, consistiency mistake. And as far as I remember, yes, you are absolutely right, it should be sixth stage, my bad!
"Tim helped me out with it," Claire revealed without holding anything back but rather shaking her head instead. "To be perfectly honest, I don't think I would break through to the fifth stage so soon if not for his help."

Okay, I've got it (purely off my memory, but still!) The difference is, yes, Tim already crafted a working example of a Qi-converted that can be plugged directly into the network. But that was him crafting while under the influence of his constituion. On the other hand, the devices he made around this chapter are made with his hands only. In other words, this is the first device that he himself made, without relying on the crutch of his constitution. That's as far as I remember the case being, so I hope it clarified everything!
Good point, just noticed it, will reread the relevant parts before replying to you again with an answer. I do remember there was some sort of a reason for it, but I'm way too deep into writing right now (as I saw this comment) to just pull it out of my sleeve.
I actually meant to reply a lot sooner, but totally forgot about it. This point is one of the main reasons why the world of the story has McRonalds or KentYucky Friend Chicken insted of MCD or KFC. Labor laws work differently in various countries so, as to not bog myself down within the legalities of US law, you are just safely assume that whenever those laws do not pop out, they simply do not apply. There's a country that I'm modeling the world of the story on, but even this aint US
'What's the difference if all that changes is the wording?'

A young person in a peculiar set of circumstances getting overly emotional when faced with unprecedented changes to his perceived future
I didn't call my master to beg for him to allow my return to the institution. I didn't bother calling the work even after turning the plane mode off.

It has both. And while there are times when its more action and times where its more crafting/slice of life/romance, Im doing my best to keep them balanced.
I do that at times >.> But trying not to if I don't really have to
