Chapter 5
Zeus was listening to the whole thing from the start. He was ashamed because he did nothing to stop the attack. All he did was just watch. On the other side Vargas was amused to know how brave these two kids were. He clearly made up his mind to take these kids to the headquarter where they could bring out their hidden abilities. Then all of a sudden Zeus made an action.
"Will you also train me, Sir Vargas?" Zeus said.
All of them were looking at Zeus. Zeus looked so determined and he would continue to say that as long as Vargas agree.
"Yesterday, I couldn't do anything but watch you fighting. You both weren't scared at all. On the other side, I am just lying there waiting for some help. I also want to protect others." Zeus said to him. He has a bandage on his right leg and also a bandage around his head.
A girl just came inside the room.
"Sorry master for being late," that girl said to Ryō.
That girl was a 22-year-old and she was a healer. She has long black hair. She came here to heal those two kids. It takes all of her energy to heal wounds and diseases. That girl just came back from a mission they assigned her to.
"No, no!! There is no hustle. You should take a rest for a while. You must be tired after the mission," Ryō said.
That girl walked towards them.
"Someone is suffering in front of me. I can't just stand here and watch them suffer," girl said.
Then that girl did some magical spells. Their wounds just healed completely. Ryu was excited, and he wanted to go out as soon as he could. Zeus stayed quiet.
"No... no boy, take a rest to regain your energy. I can just heal your wound, but you all have to take rest to fully recover," girl said.
Ryu looked so upset. He thought he could go out now and train. Then he took off all of his bandages. While taking off the bandages from his right hand, Vargas saw a scar on his head. He knows what that kind of scar means, but he thought it was not the correct time to say something. He knew because he read it in the library the Alpha army had and that book was about some old magical spells.
"Sir Vargas, when will we be ready to go on training?" Ryu asked Vargas. Ryu looked so excited,he also started punching practice in the air all of sudden.
"As soon as you two recover," Vargas said.
... Two days' time skip…..
Ryo and Vargas while drinking tea at Ryo's cabin. They were talking for long about Alpha army and
"Do you know about that scar on Ryu's hand? How and where did he got that?" Vargas asked Ryo while sipping on a tea cup.
Ryo said while taking a sip," I don't know how but I know where he got that. It's about 2 weeks ago at that dungeon. Where we used to live about 45 years ago. After we got that news about Atlas and his family. We all gave up what we used to do, Assassination".
Vargas stopped his words and said," Atlas, you mean Darkenhawk Atlas?"
"Yes, Glen Atlas", Ryo replied with a deep sigh.
Ryo said," I saw that scar on Ryu's hand when we found him unconscious in the dungeon near the ruins. He was sitting with his back to the wall. And we found a pendant, an ancient Zirkon holder. I have no idea but how he get that".
"Can I go there?"
"Yes, if you are free to go there".
So Vargas went to the dungeon where they found him. He saw the floor was broken and created a big hole in it. He jumped in and saw a skeleton sitting there. It was a cell,a kind of prison. There he felt something,that wasn't pure. So he left that dungeon very soon.
"Can you show me that pendant?" Vargas asked Ryo.
Then Ryo brought that pendant to Vargas. As soon as he saw that pendant, he was stunned.
"It is!! It is".
"Yes, it is one of the legendary stone holders 'Zeca', that can harness the true power of Zircon. I'm thinking about Ryu, that he will become the next welder of Zircon," Ryō said.
Vargas has seen Zeca once before. But that was like a bracelet. The man wearing that bracelet saved Vargas' life a long time ago. After he admired him the most. Vargas, however, was shocked, but he said nothing to Ryō about that incident. It was a tragic story for Vargas to memorize.
"I should go now. They are waiting for me." Vargas said.
Ryu and Zeus are waiting for Vargas at the entrance of the village. They are ready for their journey. Ryu looked so excited and they were talking about how adventurous it would be. They haven't gone outside of the city before. Villagers were waiting to bid goodbye to them. Both of their mothers were standing behind them. They seem to be worried about them.
Ryo and Vargas finally got there. Vargas has a small bag,
whereas Ryu seems to have packed the whole village clean in his big bag. But Zeus stayed sharp and brought only a bag, where he took some essentials for the journey. He knew it would be quite some time before they reached the army base. First, they have to go through the woods.
"How long have you two been waiting here?" Vargas asked.
"Nah! We just got here," Ryu said.
"We can't carry this pile of junk. Just make it short and easy to go around." Vargas said to Ryu.
All the villagers started laughing. Then Ryu shortlisted everything and kept only one bag, just like them.
"He's a troublemaker, isn't he? Please take good care of Ryu, Sir Vargas," Ryu's mother said.
Vargas didn't want to waste any time here. So he bid goodbye to all the villagers and walked.
"Take care of you two! Don't make any trouble!" Ryō said.
Ryō remembered that time when his son first set off on his journey. It's been sixteen years, he hasn't met his son. We can see a little tear in his eyes.
They have been walking for two days straight. They only took rest at night, because it's dangerous to go into the woods at night. But the wood wasn't deep enough yet. All of their food has ended. Also, there is a shortage of drinking water too. Ryu was looking so thirsty, and so was Zeus.
"Do you have some water, Zeus?" Ryu asked.
"No! I'm totally dry!" Zeus replied.
Now the woods are getting dark. It seems they have entered the deep forest. Suddenly, the surroundings changed.
"Look! Now we are going to enter the deep forest. It's called Monetha. There is a deep mystery in this forest that no one knows. Listen carefully you two. We will stay here for tonight. We have to take enough rest and gather some food and water. There is a river nearby. We will go together, stay together. No one ever tries to go alone anywhere. Never!! It's a warning!" Vargas said.
They looked scared. But they were so weak that they cannot even ask why. Zeus looked cautious but Ryo looked tired and he didn't even heard what he said.
But both of replied,"Yes , sir".
