章節 19: On route to Duelist Kingdom…Roommates and Facing a Thief

Read author´s note please!

"Hey guys!" I greeted them

"Asuto?!" was any need to shout though? My ears are sensitive dammit "You though that this was some pompous rich kid invitation to a super exclusive room, but no it was me Asuto!" I am not so DIO, like not at all buddy, plus the timing was bad, shame on me.

"Now being serious, yo guys welcome to my private suit, courtesy of, well, let's call him a mutual enemy of ours" I said sheepishly, I couldn't exactly tell them that I was on really good terms with the man that took Gramps soul, nor much less that he is surprisingly fond of me, as well as me planning his demise or some of my plans for Duelist Kingdom, sometimes it was annoying hiding things from your friends, especially if they weren't really able to understand the why of it by the end of the explanation, they will be more of an obstacle than any kind or form of help.

"DUDE!" oh yeah those were Joey and Tristan "You never told us that you were rich man" said Joey while slinging one of his arms around my shoulder, I knew this would have seen like something completely different to others, oh there was Tristan too, but I wasn't afraid they weren't bullying me and they stopped that phase of them a year ago, well more like after Yugi took the beating for them.

"You never asked" I said completely unashamed of it, after all, I just became a billionaire a week ago, courtesy of Pegasus himself, those were now moving me from one side to another like if they were drunk or in a party, I suppose they were just happy.

"You know, one way or another I would be demanding answers from all of this, but I guess being you, this actually, kind of make sense with how unpredictable you can be" wow, tea was taking it easier than I thought, though I suppose she is just grateful not having to sleep in the floor or alongside people that she doesn't know at all.

"What can I say, I just know how make a good deal you know" more like selling other duelist souls to an still grieving lunatic man, and not even in that order of words; "Now being serious, Yugi!" I called him at which he jumped in contrast, poor guy he still thinks that I am going to ditch on him when he isn't looking.

"Remember what I told you at the beginning? That I know what you went through?" he stayed still for minute before his eyes widened now remembering my words from earlier, "Asuto dueled against Pegasus too?!" his exclamation brought a collective "WHAT?!" from the others.

Honestly I should have expected this but, meh, seems better reactions, and, my fucking ears!!

"All of you calm down! We are in enemy territory and stop shouting so loud my ears are sensitive dammit!" with that all of them brought their hands to their mouth, what are you in primary?

"Look, just let me explain, okay?" with started my tale of how my beautifully Masquerade the Blazing Dragon was perma-banned for life, cue, the smallest violin in the world.

Of course, I had to omit, my deal with Pegasus, Duel Energy and more, making the story shorter and not so interesting. But in this case the lower the quality the better.

After finishing my tale the suite fell in pure silence, it seemed that they still couldn't grab the idea, besides Yugi, that I dueled the creator of Duel Monsters in a plane of existence named the Shadow Realm, completely understandable of course "Dude, you rock not only you deep fried that guy you even made him surrender!" yeah, being praised for almost mentally killing someone, thank you Joey.

*SLAP*

"How many times do I have to tell you to mind your words you idiot!" and now Tea and her infamous paper fan, that is a classic, "Tea is right don't pay attention to what that idiot Joey said, you did the right thing when you didn't want to follow up "nNow said Tristan giving me a thumbs up, while Yugi just grabbed one my shoulders in support of my actions.

I didn't know why I was being treated like this, but knowing myself, I am sure that Joey comment made me put a face automatically, I wasn't exactly subtle with my emotions, and this was one of those cases, I understand how this world operate, but, outside of artificial intelligence, dark spirits, and what not, hopefully I won't be forced to kill someone in cold blood through a Duel, I wanted to preserve this part of my childhood intact, still knowing that this world was far more darker than it appears in plain sight.

"Thanks" I thanked them sincerely; this reminded me why I decided to be friends with them because I knew that I could trust them, this lot wasn't the kind of to use you and dispose of you when they got what they wanted.

I stood up and clasped my hands to get Tea and Joey´s attention "Ok, guys since that's done, I will tell you this, the suite has everything that you need, food, water, both sofas can actually become mattresses, a private bathroom, and a private room, the last one is mine and its not up for debate" better to declare my right to the absolutely comfy bed and the almighty recliner that I moved to the private room.

"Wait Asuto, you won't expect a lady to sleep surrounded by men right?" Tea said with a cute face, but… "Rejected" I said while I crossed my arms to form an X "Tea, I understand where are you coming from with this, but even I like my privacy you know?" I stated like this was something so natural, that and I really didn't like to share room

"Besides I can lend it to you when you need to change only, outside of that we will come out of the suite when you are taking a shower you know?" I told her, she wasn't particularly thrilled by it, but she is grown up she will acquiesce "Fine! Mph!" see, perfectly reasonable.

"Wait, Asuto when you, all of you I mean, are out to eat or whatever you decide to do while we stay in the ship, how would I know when you are coming back?" this was a natural concern for her, she didn't want to be found in the midst of changing or even nude in the middle of the suit after taking a bath, to which I just decided to go towards the main door of the suite and…

KNOCK

"Three knocks would be enough" I said and she just nodded alongside the rest, Tea was hot, especially in her DSOS form, but her friends always had her back, of course mainly Yugi I mean, if Joey and Tristan decide to court with dead then that's their problem, I was raised to be a gentleman not to be an idiot.

Now with that part said and ended, I was about to explain how we were going to deal with the next five days of voyage for us, because of course, we couldn't hold ourselves inside the room all the time, though something was telling me that maybe, just maybe that could have been the best answer for this…bad feeling that I had in my guts.

But hearing knocking someone in the door, I went and opened knowing who I was going to meet in the to her side, and of course, Croquet was there to greet me "Are you Asuto Kirihara?" he said demanding my name, he was making a really convincing act "Yeah, it is me, and you are?" I asked like if we were strangers.

"My name is Croquet I am the personal butler for none other than Maximillian Pegasus himself" this brought a reaction from the rest, they seemed to be ready to jump to defend me but a quick hand in the sign of stop, was enough for them to not follow with their reaction "I see, and what it is that you need from me Mr. Croquet?" my question was respectful and to the point, it reminded me when I have to deal with those assholes customers or when my boss was feeling like being a bitch to me and my team.

"It has come to my understanding that you recently gave away one of your star chips to a certain…Joey…Wheezier?" whoa he was really reading a little card with Joey´s name in it, though badly written, "Its Wheeler!" And there is Joey trying to fight with Croquet, if it wasn't for Tristan and Yugi trying to calm him down.

Croquet just ignored him, this angered Joey even more, "Please follow me, we must talk about the consequences of you willingly giving away one of your star chip, Mr. Yugi Muto? I will come for you later too" well, he was really working hard on it, since not even Yugi was saved from being called, well more like he is the only one to receive a real scolding, while me? Yeah, this was part of my plan, now time to throw away a thief over the board.

"Have you ever tried to practice some kind of performance or being an actor at least once Croquet?" I really was curious about it, the guy was a natural, of course this was too his job, as being the main judge in regards to the rules of Duelist Kingdom both in the ship and in the island "As much as it really shames me to admit Mr. Kirihara, I once was a young actor in my youth, sadly I couldn't compete with the new and more vigorous super stars in the industry and my career fell in the blink of an eye" welcome to the world of acting, where either you soar or plummet to the ground in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, that world was rotten to the ground, nah, even below the ground.

A shame, while we have that short conversation over his failure as a young actor, we made our way towards a more secluded part of the ship, for a good reason we avoided the cargo bay and keep walking on, until we reached kitchen which by this time was full by cooks hired to made the meals of the participants until their time in the island, yeah, why not?

Fill their stomachs making them feel like they aren't going to an nearly inhabited island and then make them survive in the wild, of course that's not going to make them regret there decision of participating in this contest.

Pegasus was really ruthless

Funny, though, I would have sedated them and then left them as they came to the world in a completely inhabited island, with only their decks at hand, survival of the fittest, meh, maybe later.

Now, even though we reached the kitchen we didn't really stop there, we kept walking until we arrived at the ship´s pantry, or at least whatever this place would be called in a ship.

The place was, quite big, considering the size of the ship, it made sense, nonetheless I was gob smacked that Pegasus had ordered his men to fill this thing so much food, and desserts, like, a literal mountain of dessert, right, most of the participants are children, now this being a survival game its turning way worse than in the original, especially considering the presence of Player Eliminators courtesy of Pegasus himself.

If I ever meet, fatso Kaiba and mister wannabe deranged Batman then they better prey that at least the Duel would be entertaining, because I don't tolerate bullying in any form.

*CLANK*

The door of the pantry being closed and locked put me out of my thoughts, now me and Croquet were the only ones here, or at least I hope so, though wouldn't surprise me if the entire thing is wired or something.

"Mr. Kirihara you can rest easy, in this place no once can hear us nor see us, whatever you may need to tell you can do it with utmost confidence" Croquet said while giving a sense of being proud of his achievement, I guess? Whatever.

"Nice job Croquet, I knew I could count on you" I said while giving the best smile that I could, pretty sure that the Hero of the Imperium himself would be surprised or just plain cringing at me by imitating his own hero persona.

Well, that wasn't what I needed this room for, time to work then.

"Now Croquet, I need your absolutely attention at what I am going to tell you right now, and depending of the outcome we may, may not, not only solve a…" I left my word hung in the air, as always creating a little bit of expectation or intrigue helped to gain someone attention…or just plain annoy them.

"…particular problem for both Mr. Pegasus and myself" I finished this time calling Pegasus by the honorific which he is usually called from his servants, a show of respect, which I truly do have for that man, of course, that doesn't diminish his actions in my eyes, on the contrary, it gave another reason to beat the shit out of him.

Meanwhile Croquet just honored the Rock himself by doing an exact replica of his eyebrow raise, yeah I know cool and a good show of skepticism in both ways.

"Mr. Kirihara, is that problem…a contestant?" he said carefully, for as much as he must treat as if I were the man of the hour himself, I wasn't nor I couldn't go against the rules of Duelist Kingdom, something like straight sabotaging another contestant or even worse straight out assaulting them will go against the rules, and result in due punishment.

Lucky me, this guy wasn't a contestant at all.

"No Croquet, he is an stowaway, and quite a dangerous one" he stilled at that, understanding what I was getting on, probably thinking that this guy was some kind of criminal or something, well, he was close enough, if attempted murder and successful robbery in his past life could count alongside more recent murder, cue Shadi, and other things would define someone like Yami Bakura.

Yeah, I guess it work out, somehow.

"Mr. Kirihara could that be another one of your fr-…!" I dared him to finish that sentence, I really did, it didn't help that the shadows mixed with the bad illumination made my crimson colored eyes even more menacing than they already were, that and my new patented death glare, yeah I didn't choose the name someone else did, just you wait, I would write about him in the next couple of chapters of the journal.

You will be surprised

And as for how I could see quite clearly to even differentiate the types of food in the ship pantry? Well, do I have to write every time that this new body of mine is above your everyday human? Meh, I hope not.

Well, enough sass, writing this thing while being in a hospital, is quite challenging without other fussing over me, yeah, in the present I am actually in the hospital, and with the new tournament just coming around makes me be more and more antsy, especially since some villains just decided to appear more recently, and guess who is going to dealt with them?

Well; Set, its going with me, but thats for later, for now I can only say this, and dealing with those idiots will be on me, why? Because, it has to be me. Someone else might have gotten it wrong.

Okay, enough of it back to the journal!

"He is a stowaway, not a contestant, a thief and murderer too" I said with finality I wasn't going to have this to debate, on the contrary, I was going to push for it, I wasn't going to kill Bakura, the kid was innocent, but Yami Bakura was an entire different story, I was going to become the nail on his foot from here on, and I was going to enjoy twisting his plans a lot, like hell I was going to let him play in that memory whackmo that is the final season.

Still, I wasn't softening my glare at all; I was being really serious here, though, was it wrong for me to feel a little bit of happiness at seeing him squirm where he stood? Honestly speaking, my features were quite attractive but I could become quite fierce too, and still I knew that I still had a little bit of baby fat in me, after all was a teenager in this body, funny thing, I held no resemblance to my old self, so with that I can only ask myself how I would look with a killer beard in the future.

Next on to the do list: Beard

"R-Right! Then what are we supposed to do with him Mr. Kirihara?" Really? Are you really asking me that? Are you really asking the obvious question right here, right now?! You? Now I understand why Pegasus became so exasperated with him in the anime.

*SIGH*

Well, you can't have it all I guess "First come first Croquet, when are we going to set sail?" I asked and he once again lifted an eyebrow in confusion at my inquiry, the answer that I got though, made me grin like the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland, and oh yeah he started to sweat like crazy for some reason, it couldn't have been my smile thought, 100% sure of it.

Yami Bakura was many things, Thief King, murderer, psychopath, slightly cannibal and who knows what more, after so many years of being trapped in the Millennium Ring some of his memories were quite hazy to say the least, but he still could vividly remember the reason behind his current situation, that being an stowaway in a cruise ship en route to Duelist Kingdom.

But what really mattered wasn't the stupid contest nor the useless lot that plagued this ship, no, what mattered was the presence of two of the millennium items, one being in hands of little Yugi and another one in possession of Maximillian Pegasus.

One was the Millennium Puzzle housing the soul of the already deceased Pharaoh of old, the same man that ended his life once and forced him to seal his soul, or at least a big fragment of it, inside the Millennium Ring alongside a shard of Zorc so they would begin once again to collect the Millennium Items an fulfill their objectives.

That being taking revenge on the Pharaoh for destroying his village and slaughtering the ninety nine villagers that resided in there, poor fool Aknadin, if only he would have known that they weren't ninety nine but a hundred, and he was the sole survivor from that fateful day!

Thief King Bakura!

But still, he needed time and patience, this era wasn't like his own, it was more modern, easier even, to live and prosper, it was a good place for him, yes, the amount of treasure that he could collect was nearly infinite!

But that would have to wait for now, he needed to focus not only in little Yugi and his Millennium Puzzle but too on Pegasus and his Millennium eye!

For that same reason he decided to stowaway in this ship, only by hiding and being patience he would have many chances to take the Millennium Puzzle form little Yugi cold dead hands, and when that happens he will savour how that infuriating Pharaoh would stay there unable to save his dear friend from the shadow games and above all, from Zorc deadly embrace.

Thinking on their immediate demise, made him wants to laugh to the heavens and curse them by toying with his home and everything that was his for the taking.

But for now, he must be patient; he must remain calm, until they have reached the island, as for now, he will enjoy this little temporary peace of his, near the railing of the ship and savoring the sea breeze, it has been long, FAR too long since the last time that he truly felt it in his skin.

And still, for some odd reason, he couldn't stay calm, he was annoyed, no, he felt annoyed, he felt like he was been watched by some kind of predator, like there was someone following since he boarded the ship, he tried to ignore it, most of the time, especially since they already had departed, and he knew that besides the public area, the lunch room and the private headquarters of the elite duelist, none of them would approach the area near the cargo bay.

But paranoia was a cruel mistress, and grateful lover too, he knew there was something amiss, he only didn't know what.

But…

…The plan hasn't changed, not at all, so he will enjoy this little time he had bef-

"Bakura is that you?" calming his own reaction and cooling his features, adopting more the bashful but timid disgrace of a descendant of his, he turned around, hiding his surprise from who actually dared to interrupt him.

It was little Yugi new addition to his merry band of ignorant fools, the weird haired, crimson eyed, delinquent of the school, Asuto Kirihara.

Now, he knew an enigma when he found it, Kirihara wasn't the most sociable one in the school, his entire mannerism resembled more a mummy than a delinquent, in this years that he has seeing him, he seemed to act mostly for only existing, and when provoked he reacted like an animal would do.

It was entertaining when he crushed that annoyance by the name of Ushio, he was already starting to get on his nerves with his ridicule demands, and he wasn't going to let it pass anymore until he tried to go after Kirihara, the fool had both of his hands broken and almost irreparable, at least for his time, this surgeries of todays could do miracles, he would acknowledge how far away from present day they were in almost every concept or department.

For some it would be mind humbling, in his case it only fueled the need to take away everything they have achieved, jealousy was truly his greatest sin alongside his wrath.

But still, what he little remembered after, this thing finally got some life in him, something that he still was quite perplexed by, since he could feel that Kirihara both past and present had the same soul and nothing had changed at all, except for the excess of life that he know showed in his action and expressions.

The fool should at least learn how to hide his feeling, it's like he has them painted on his face, like now.

"Asuto? Wow is that really you? I didn't know that you were going to participate in the contest too" I wasn't above impersonating my stupid descendant, but it was better than letting myself known to others, of course if everything went against him, he wasn't against from using excessive force or just trapping the fool in the Shadow Realm.

But, for now, let's play the friendship card with this fool.

"I could say the same to you; I didn't know that you played Duel Monsters" his gaze full of curiosity, of course I played Duel Monsters and even before you were even born, but that didn't matter right now, what I needed to know was if he was here alongside Yugi or was by himself.

"Just recently, but it seems I was good enough to be a forerunner in the Diamond City Duel Monsters tournament, that's how I got my invitation" I said to him showing him the cards but not the gloves and star chips, little Yugi and his group radiated friendship everywhere, It wasn't surprising to see them accepting the greatest delinquent of the school as their friend.

Disgusting

And as for the gloves and star chips? Pfft, I am the Thief King Bakura obviously I don't have them, neither this cards were mine; I took them from a stupid duelist that lost his things during the little fight that happened nearly an hour ago in the docks.

I was only able to take the cards, the rest he already had it in hand and he clung to them like if his life depended on it.

The more I stayed in that mess the easier would to be detected, he had pride ins his abilities that now were enhanced by the Millennium Ring and the Shard of Zorc in his soul, but he knew thanks to his own experience that this kind of problems will only lead towards a bigger one.

So it was really easy to decide the best course of actions, so with a little bit of my own abilities courtesy of the Ring, I was able to cast an illusion over those stupid's guards, while I showed them the card necessary to participate I showed them two buttons, but for them those buttons were star chips, the ability to trick someone mind granted by the Ring itself and empowered by Zorc´s powers.

It was truly an intoxicating feeling, but I have to b careful when using it, too much and my descendant will descend to madness.

Pathetic

If I were in my original body this would have been nothing, but I guess I will have to keep working with what I have in my hands…

…For now

"Umu" he hummed? Whatever, he seemed more interested in my abilities as a duelist than me being the forerunners of a nonexistent tournament, and that being the case…

I could take his soul too, since the first moment that I lay my eye on him I understood how rare it was, I oculdnt see it more like feel it, a feeling of nothingness, that this so called delinquent lacked something so important, so necessary that made him seem completely unappealing to me, but now?

I could feel it, a darkness so deep and twisted that made my mouth salivate, Zorc´s fragment even sang every time that I stayed close to him, like if it wanted to devour it, damned being the consequences, but there was something that stopped me from doing it.

Like, the presence of something, that surrounded him constantly, almost jealous of him interacting with everything not related to that unseeing being, but above that it was constantly watching me, it never looked away, especially in the classroom, it felt quite…annoying.

And still, my instinct was screaming at me not to engage him or even challenge him in any way possible, not even in a Shadow Game!

Now, my instinct has always guided me right, it was what let me survive the destruction and carnage unleashed upon my village, but now, it wasn't even acting, on the contrary, I couldn't even feel that thing hanging around him, it seemed like he was alone, yes, alone in this desolated section of the cruiser.

Now then, why don't we have some fun?

"Say Asuto" mm it seems that I interrupted him, he seemed ready to say something, but I couldn't have care less, I was going to have my meal soon enough, and I will finally be able to satiate my hunger "Wouldn't you mind a quick Duel, you know between friends, this way we won't so rusted by the time we arrive to the island" I said impersonating my disgusting descendant.

Oh, how so I loathed talking an act in such a delicate way.

"Really?!" again he wore his emotions in his sleeves, pathetic, I gave a smile and nodded at him and his…exuberance "The you better get ready Bakura you are gonna have the Duel of your life!" I said while quietly chuckling and let my hair covering my eyes, I couldn't exactly show my true self, didn't I?

If only I could have seen his expression at that time, I would have stopped this so called Duel to happen, for in contrast with the joyful and exuberant individual in front t of me, crimson slated pupils gazed at me like if they were locking their gazes in their next prey, and that prey…

Good think? i am finally free, and that means i can give more attention to this fic.

Main problem? i bought Elden RIng DLC and i have been doing that shit daily almost like a freaking fanatic i say, and now i am with Messmer, holy mother of yorkies that guy is a mix of Malenia and Radagon together how the fuck i am going to win against him?!

Killed Bayle though, it was way easier than Messmer, got really scared though. Funny considering that at least for me, Placidusax is really easy to deal with.

Putrescent Knight...a little bit tricky but easy enough to kill, yeah not lying this guy was easy, at least for me.

Golden Hippopotamus: where in the tarnished name is this thing an hippopotamus, it has a freaking horn! oh and i didnt really enjoy the fight with it too annoying and too erratic with his attacks.
