The room felt cramped, the air thick with the weight of what we'd just uncovered. I stood with Neal and Jinzo, two windows cracked open, the faint breeze offering little comfort. The drawings on the wooden board stared back at me like unsolved riddles, while the weapons we'd collected from the rogue hideout lay scattered on the table.
The markings felt familiar. My mind struggled to place them. Where had I seen these before?
A gnawing thought buried in the recesses of my memory. Something from my time in the kingdom. Something I couldn't fully grasp, like a word on the tip of my tongue that refused to be spoken.
Jayla pushed through the door, eyes scanning the room with quiet determination. "Who's with Xianne?" she asked, her voice slicing through the thick tension.
"Sorin," I replied. She nodded and moved toward the table, her gaze locking onto the weapons, studying them with an intensity that mirrored my own.
