章節 54: Chapter 54
It was a margin faster movement from his attempt to get up the mountain earlier, due to the Fact Azure and Lapis set the pace. Well, Dusk was the one truly setting the pace, the fangs of the vixens assisting her. Each of the black rabbits hops seems to start ascending at one point, then the descent is a few more lengths away. Even if he didn't have telepathy, he could tell that the rabbit was amused by the pair, feeling no danger at all from the gluttonous gullets.
Nadia and Syren might have been following at a sedate pace, compared to the rest, they never were far enough behind to be lost in the trees. Ramsey had decided to stay behind with Tortuga, feeling he would be more of a burden than assistance with capturing predators. None had disagreed, even Dusk had voted to let him stay behind, surprising the wolf.
But the pace was so quick, they soon arrived at the incline he had climbed. There is a faded scent of old blood on the stones, not enough to draw, more of a marker as to something had happened in the area. Dusk had hopped halfway up, and stopped, her whiskers twitching, looking like she is holding back a sneeze, if the image of them twitching from behind is right.
Even though the twins knew this was the perfect time to pounce, feeling the fact Dusk is distracted, they knew better than that prey had good self-preservation. It was a few moments before everyone gathered together, watching the distracted rabbit. Waiting for her to do something other then just sit with her ears up and twitching. It was a second before she turned, looking almost as if there was nothing wrong. If her eyebrows could have shifted a bit more noticeably, she probably would have had it quirked. 'Was just waiting for all of you guys. I didn't want to get to far ahead.' She projects, amused by the fact that they had stopped without any real reason to.
The twins look at each other, slightly puzzle, almost expecting answers to pop up on each others faces. They look almost mirrored, having their heads lean one way, then the other. Azure is the one to break the stale mate, raising her paw and smacking her sister's nose. Lapis gives a little bite towards her sister before huffing and shifting her head, facing towards Dusk, her rear rises and shaking, looking like she was preparing to pounce.
The rest shake their heads, with Syren being the one to hold her down, stopping the vixen from her attempt to catch the black furred bun. It was only a moment later, taking only a second to catch up to the rabbit, her pace starting to go a bit more moderately, each jump moving up the cliff side. Their wasn't anything around, but it was a bit of the strangest feeling. His eyes start to slide over the trees, with the females taking their time to look. Dusk, however, was seeming to clean up an imaginary spot on her paw, working to clean it off while the rest of the group sits around waiting for a moment. It doesn't take a to long before Azure and Lapis start to move around, sniffing at stones, and he was sure that the pair would climb onto a huge boulder and act like queens on top.
Syren was a moment later, shaking her head, having figured out what the rabbit was doing. They might have been a little put off, most of them had a general idea of joking around, but this was a bit better planned than a sudden surge of water from a fox kit. Though the motherly figures of the group shake their heads a little. Syren leading up the slope and stopping at the peak, her staring down, it made the three that were still on the side climb up quickly stop messing around and jump up quickly.
It was a moment, just sitting there on the edge of the newest trees, it wasn't obvious, but only Syren wasn't tense. Dusk's nose was twitching, as if she had gotten a scent that she wasn't sure if she wanted to follow. The vixen kit's heads were swiveling a bit more, paying attention to almost every noise that they could find. Heads moving like they want to follow each sound, and even though the forest is mostly quiet, their heads look like they might be trying to unscrew from their bodies.
It was an amusing moment, quickly moving towards seriousness as the young wolf cub looks to his mother. Syren stares back, having a good idea of his thoughts, having resided in them since his birth. 'Start small, don't think that we can fight anything to large. The deer wasn't tough, probably having only fought amongst themselves.' She says, lifting her head, the motion an unconscious want, rather then a need to look for herself.
Nadia's head bobs along with that thought, 'We really shouldn't have had a good chance. The fact that there wasn't any major injuries could be considered a success.' Some of her own personal memories popped up, just quick flashes of her previous attempts at hunting any game larger than a rabbit, most of them with her running, or sneaking away after confirming that there isn't a great way to succeed.
It was a little bit of a different feel, being a smaller animal. Having experienced the plethora of memories from his mother, however, prepared him for the female part. He takes a moment and closes his eyes, taking in the information that moved through his mind. It wasn't hard, pretty much, it quickly let him figure out just what he should be worried about, and what he should be prepared for. His thoughts were quickly back towards the current time. His mind felt sharper, knowing more failures then the successes that were provided by his mother. Syren was seeming speculative, the fact there wasn't any failed hunts for a long while had made the psywolves dull. They did have things they avoided, most of the time, they already knew that they were going to avoid ahead of time.
Azure and Lapis really hadn't payed attention to the discussion, mostly, nipping at each other and turning towards the rabbit with hunger in their eyes. They seeming to perk up when they all start to stand up, having their ears flicking ready for adventure. Syren and her cub taking the lead, not sure where they are going, but the hope for success hidden in their minds.
