Now, we really had not taken a chance to look into the cave. Syren had let them know about the fact before anyone had gotten to the mouth. Letting the four know about their being something inside, that seemed to be sleeping.
It took a little prodding before anyone approached, looking into the somewhat shallow depths of the cave. Which seemed more shallow then before, the back of the cave looked to have moved forward a length or two, pretty noticeable, if you have been here a few times, if it was a new home, you might have never expected that there was a suddenly shorter distance to the back.
It was only a moment before the wolf noticed what it truly was, his head was just an inch from the opening, the rest were standing behind him, staring inside also, Azure had been the first of the vixens to have noticed. She looked smugly at her sister like she knew a secret that the other girl didn't. It would have been entertaining if this wasn't a dangerous situation.
The fact that the thing was so massive made it scarier. He had first thought it was a snake, coiled up, with it's scales acting as the roughly patterned outside. He was worried that there would be a sudden rush from the inner, showing a cavernous maw that would swallow them whole.
But the pattern was slightly different then he had expected. It was sized like scales, but it had a dip towards the top. The slope was gentle, hard to notice in the low light of the shadows, but they all had sharp night vision, even if most of their activities were during the days.
After confirming it with his mother and Nadia, he sighs, shaking his head out. He knew it wouldn't be a turtle, they needed more water, but this was a huge tortoise, like it had been sized up about 5 times from his previous life. "I don't think we will be able to get it to move. I thought it was something a bit smaller." He says with a sigh. Staring at the patterned shell that seemed to denote absolute protection.
Syren had never really experienced the sight of a turtle or tortoise, she had the vague ideas from his mind. Along with the possible ideas of dropping it from great heights to penetrate the shell. It would be hard to even get anywhere close to that height for the group. "How did it get here?"
That thought was a perfect question, it was a large and slow creature, how could it have moved into a hole without anyone noticing it. Nadia looks at it, she seems to be moving closer to get a chance to look at it, "Swam?"
The little wolf was dumbfounded at the idea for a moment, before his mind turns to thinking about it. Sea turtles could move so fast when they were in the water, compared to when they were land bound. If you could turn to water, how could something this large not have the chance to swim through stone.
He was looking at it, curious how the tortoise could move quickly, he didn't notice that Azure and Lapis had gotten bored, and started to play. They were rough housing, nipping and yipping at each other. A couple of times, throwing water splashes. The sounds actually sent shivers down his spine, worried that the tortoise would get up and decide to snack on them. He had never really studied tortoises, so all he knew was they potentially ate meat, along with vegetation.
Of course, giant stone tortoises were even more out of his league, they could eat ores for all he knew and produced ingots when they got rid of their waste.
He looked towards his mother for hope to figure out an answer. All he got was the same confusion as was gripping him. Though, she could tell the creature wasn't looking to eat, just a warm place to rest. No idea how short or long that rest might be. It's mind was just a blank slate, there were dreams, but they didn't provide any information to the wolfess.
She just shrugs, and decides to try something. She moves closer towards the towering shell, climbing on and then wrapping herself into a ball. There is a slight shift, as if someone was pulling on a blanket, happy to be wrapped in it's warmth.
A short moment later, he got the vague sense the tortoise welcomed others to rest with him. It would even transport friends when they came along. Though it's last friends had left it a long while ago. This appeared to be the only information that it would provide before it drifted back off. Dreams flowing along the world's currents, using them to go place to place, and the happiness of friends resting on it.
The wolf looks at the satisfied tortoise, and thinks of the old pirate stronghold, it always made him think of a tortoise with it's name. He looks on the beast, thinking, 'Your name is Tortuga.' Before moving to find his own spot on the dense shell. He moves close to his mother, but finds the shell is a little softer then he had been thinking. It probably protected through the force that is required to even get through so many layers.
Most of the other's hadn't been included on his personal adventures, so they wouldn't have know how much energy he had used for the day. He drifts off, feeling like underneath him is a gentle rumble of his mother's breathing, just amplified by Tortuga's size.
His mind slips easily into looking upon the world, cutting off the awareness to the outside world. A few little changes had happened when he was gone, the trees had fruited, they weren't ripe, but they were starting to get heavier. Some of the pine trees with the energy he had put in had grown, the size of the trees were dwarfed by all the ones surrounding them, looking tenacious considering their larger cousins that could be trying to make them move.
He sees one of the seed pods fall, and it slams into the ground like a lead weight was dropped from the branches instead of a cone. The weight seemed like it would be heavy to move. This made him wonder how the trees were spreading, the seed pods didn't go far, but there were some that had been at least hundreds of lengths away.
The answer soon arrived in a foraging hedgeboar, it's muscles seemed to slowly be chiseled, taking the seed pods and swallowing them down like candies. It could be imagined now, where the seeds finally had found resting, along with a good helping of fertilizer to boost their growth.
He doesn't look on to see the end results, deciding that it was time to start molding the world a little more, he felt there would be stagnation soon if he didn't encourage it along the path of change. His bones were only partly cleansed, about 30 percent, and that was just rough guess, unsure if there might be some hidden requirements to it.
He decides to focus on the world and starts to mold the surprising mutable ball, into a larger sphere, not sure how to paint his ideas, just keeping his inhabitants safe while he thinks.
