The Wolf prowling across dimensions by Pandora's Reader

Highschool of the Dead & My Hero Academia/僕のヒーローアカデミア Xover Rated: M, English, Family & Adventure, [OC, Rika M., Shizuka M., Saeko B.], Words: 820k+, Favs: 1k+, Follows: 1k+, Published: Nov 17, 2021 Updated: Nov 9 779Chapter 49: Money? Check Wine? Check Kidnapping?

Saik0 - Thanks, I hate it.

Anyway, 603 favs and 683 follows. For a fic that's barely 3 months old, you guys are great. So for that, there'll be a double upload today. Ain't I nice?

Beta'd by NiteNight.

{One hour later}

I was the biggest dumbass in the multiverse. My charisma was stupid. After the 15 minute mark, Eina practically forgot all about me scaring her, and happily dragged me through store after store, all the while I was confused on what the fuck was going on.

But after an hour of that, Eina was satisfied, and I was free. (Yeah... I'm just going to go take out my confusion and earlier annoyance on the dungeon monsters.) It was both the healthiest thing to do, and most satisfying.

So with that decided, I went back to doing what I said I was going to do earlier.

The early floors were annoying, mostly because I had to go through annoying fucking frogs, and then go passed those Bad Bats. I swear those fucking things were the most annoying monster in existence. I was so close to just saying fuck it, and wreck the entire floor. Can't have a floor with Bad Bats if the floor was fucking erased from existence.

But I just settled for increasing the gravity in the area, I couldn't cover even 1/4th of the floor, but the ones that ended up getting too close to me ended up eating dirt and aura slashes. So that made me feel better.

When I got back to the 13th, I saw the wall was fixed. "Huh, oh well." With that noticed, I moved on. I hadn't eaten hounds yet, but I was going to change that today. So I marched on, and went looking for trouble.

And with my aura's domination effect off, trouble came to me.

I heard barks coming from a pack of Hellhounds, and grinned when a fireball came my way. Sure I smacked it away, but when the hounds got in range, I brought out my claws, and ran towards them. Seeing them get in a line, and all run at me together was interesting, but also something that didn't really matter.

As soon as I met the first hound, I let it jump at and bite my arm, and skewered it when it tried to take a chunk out of my arm. "Not good enough pup." It whimpered and popped out of existence. The other hounds jumped at or tried to pepper me with fire, but that was nothing. I took what came my way, and even tore a chunk out of a hounds throat when it tried to jump me just like the first one did. It didn't die, but that was fine. "Just means you're going to be last."

The rest of the hounds tried, but after tearing them apart, all that was left was the hound with the torn out throat. I crouched down to it, and just blinked. "Not sure how you haven't died yet, but oh well." I ripped off one of its legs, and grunted. "Not getting fur in my mouth. No way in hell."

So I started skinning it. The hound died after I tore the leg off, so I didn't need to waste my time skinning the rest of it.

When I was done, I had a leg of pure muscle in my hands. I nodded to myself, and took a bite. "Hm... I was expecting this to be spicy... Eh, 4/10." I ate the rest of the leg, and grinned when I saw my semblance activate.

I blinked at that last one. "Well don't mind if I do." I picked it, then blinked again.

Wolf Form reacting to Hellhound form... Conflict detected...

Searching for a solution...

Solution found... Integrating abilities, Wolf Form and Hellhound Form...

Integration successful...

Ability - Wolf Shifter - Host gains the ability to collect and shift through the forms of any lupine creature consumed. Forms may be combined.

Current forms - Gray Wolf, Hellhound.

Huh... I looked at that ability, and did the most logical thing.

I used it without thinking much of it. I shifted into my Gray wolf form, and padded the ground. (So base strength is the same... How do I... Oh. Ok.) When I thought about using my Hellhound abilities, I saw the fur on my snout and paws start to take a darker shade, my body started to grow a bit bigger, despite it already being bigger than a Hellhound, and I felt an itch at the back of my throat.

And it was annoying. It was like that feeling of having a little tiny thing stuck in your throat, but you just can't do anything about it.

Just worse. So I decided to try getting rid of it.

And fucking hell. Breathing fire is like INHALING a ghost pepper, but just the other way round. (... Can I do that in my normal form?) The moment I got that idea, I shifted back, and tried it.

But it didn't work. "Tch. Why won't you let me breathe fire!? Dammit universe!" But that was fine. I'd just roast everything as a fire breathing whatever the fuck I was now when I shifted into that form.

Speaking of, I shifted back, and decided to have some fun with my new ability.

So I ran straight down the hall, not caring about what I ran into, just that I ran into something. And lo and behold I ran into a worm! I didn't get the chance to eat the fucker last time, but now things were different. (Time to burn fucker!) I charged up my fire, found out that I didn't actually know how to do that, and had to settle for jumping on the worm, and biting into it as I breathed out whatever I had at the moment.

The worm screeched in pain, and started thrashing around, almost knocking me into a wall back first, but I just jumped off of it, used my gravity ability to keep me in the air, and made a platform behind me to kick off of. I turned into a wolfy bullet, and crashed into the worm again. I even tore a chunk out of it, and started eating in front of said worm... (Huh... I'm passively cooking it too... Well I know my new favorite form now.) I could heat up raw food now, and just turn into my own oven.

It was cool.

That aside, it wasn't enough for my semblance, so I just jumped back after the worm. (Winner winner worm dinner!) The worm charged at me, and for absolutely no reason at all, I decided to run into its mouth.

And I was finding out that this was a dumb idea. It smelled horrible! I took one whiff of it, and decided to just coat myself in aura, and run THROUGH the bastard. But not before taking a bite out of its intestines as I did.

That second one looked way weirder than the third, but I just ignored it and chose the stats. That done, I ran through the rest of the worm, and came out NOT from the ass, but from a side that I bit my way through.

Though I had shaken off the things blood, guts and ungodly disgusting stomach acid. With my aura on, I didn't need to worry about my fur getting singed, so yay for small mercies. (Yeah... Yin's onto something. I don't care WHAT that intelligence number is, I'm fucking stupid.) I half expected Yin's system to suddenly appear and do the whole +1 INT thing for that, and just huffed when nothing happened.

I shook myself off again, and decided to just leave. I had enough fun now, and I didn't want to get shit from Mia about coming into her bar smelling like ass. (... That's an idea to fuck with her... I'll think about it more later.)

And so I started heading back. I already took a bite out of everything on the 13th, and I had some magic stones in an aura satchel I made, which would hopefully be enough to not use a shit-ton of money from my stash. I was just getting used to managing my own funds again, I didn't want to use it all. (... I need to make Weiss another gift the next time we go back to Remnant.) You really don't notice how nice it is to have an obscenely rich friend until you're wondering how much buying shit on your own is going to eat from your own stash.

I paused as I thought that, and just started blinking. (Am I a fucking scrooge? The fuck?) I thought on that, and decided to say fuck it and splurge for tonight. I'd be damned if I had a fuckton of money stashed around, and didn't use it. I could just farm Jack Bird's whenever they re-spawned. What'd I need to worry about money for if I could just cash in 1M every month?

Nodding to myself with that, I kept going, and decided to look around the 12th... Because I was feeling vindictive and I could actually burn the damned floor in righteous hell fire.

And that's what I did. When I heard a bunch of Bad Bats coming my way, I opened my maw, focused on the fire in my throat, and PUSHED. And it was like I used Flamethrower, a torrent of flames shot out from my maw, and I was eating up the screeches of the burning bats. (Yeah... I think Saeko might be rubbing off on me.) Wasn't a bad thing, just something I noticed at that moment.

After setting the 12th floor on fire, I happily trotted away, and only stopped when the floor started to shake. I was curious, so naturally I sat down, and just waited for whatever was coming.

After a bit, the shaking stopped, and I heard stomping coming my way. And to my surprise, it was an Infant Dragon... (Are you supposed to be dark gray?) I swore it was a different color in the anime... (Ah... It's enhanced. Well well well, the 'consequences' of my own actions have come to haunt me huh? I'll take it.) The Infant Dragon roared at me, and I saw fire building up in the back of its throat.

And I decided to have some fun with this. I opened my maw, gathered as much fire as I could, which I just noticed ate stamina, and mentally grinned as the both of us shot fire from our maws. (I'm something of a fire breather myself.) A fire beam off wasn't something I expected to ever do, but I decided that it was cool as shit anyway.

Now I might be losing said cool fire breath off, but that was whatever. I just stopped breathing out, and ran towards the dragon. Running through fire breath was fine, my aura kept it off of me, and when I got through, I jumped at the dragon's throat. Though it tried to headbutt me away, so I had to settle for its face. But again, that was fine.

I sunk my teeth into its snout, crushing its nostrils, and taking a chunk out of it when I jumped off of it. It was interesting finding out this thing tasted like smoked jerky.

Dragon tasting like jerky aside, I ran at it again, but settled for the lower route this time. The thing was too busy trying to readjust, so it wasn't ready for me to run under it, shift, and drag my claws under its stomach. It let out this annoyingly loud wail, and I decided to just finish it off when I saw it didn't die from having its stomach split open. "Welp. This has been fun, but I got places to be." I coated my claws in aura, and shot a few slashes towards its tail, to eat, and then the rest of its body.

My slashes found their marks, and I watched the thing turn to ash as its tail fell off. I just hummed a tune, and went over to grab its tail. "Let's see what you have for me." And after taking a few bites, I saw something good.

Choose - [Excelia +100 to all stats] - [Advanced fire control] - [Dragon's hide] - [Dragon's eyes]

For once, there were more than three options. Now normally, the stats would be my first option. But then there was the fire control and Dragon eyes. Now I had no idea the hell the eyes would do, but it was probably something good.

Then there was the fire control. "I could easily just skip training my new wolf form, but again, 100 stats. And I could just actually go and train it... I guess that works." That decided, I grabbed the stats again, and went back to leaving.

The rest of the way back wasn't much to write home about, but it was nice in its own way...- "Wait a minute... Did I get the stone?" I checked my satchel, noticed that no, I didn't get the stone, and just groaned as I went back to get it. I was starting to get annoyed at picking up the stones, and came to a decision. "Yeah, gotta go get Lili soon." I didn't like picking up every single stone from the things I killed, but Lili would probably have a field day with them.

Stone gathered, I went back on my way to leave, again, and moved on.

Leaving the dungeon was good, though waiting in line to exchange my stones was not good. It was the most annoying thing in the world, and I was tempted to just cut everyone else off and go up to Eina. (Actually... What's stopping me from doing that? Aside from Ottar, there shouldn't be anyone strong enough in Orario to stop me... And the other worst thing is that I'll just have to deal with people not liking me... Welp, guess I'm pissing people off today.) I nodded, then started cutting in line.

I ignored the people, gave whoever touched my shoulder a look that promised pain, and went over to Eina. She watched me come closer, and just sighed as I ended up in front of her. "Mr. Maccillian... Could you please not cut in line? They are there for a reason." I just shrugged.

"If they can't stop me then oh fucking well." Eina just put her head in her hands, and I just grinned.

Eina sighed, and held out a hand, still not looking at me. "Just... Just give me the magic stones Mr. Maccillian." I did, and hummed as she checked them over. I didn't know how they figured out what they came from by just looking at them, but it was cool. Though eventually, she got to the Infant Dragon's stone, and she paused. "Mr. Maccillian, what was this from? I have an idea, but I'd enjoy confirmation."

"That? Enhanced Infant Dragon." And then it was like someone hit mute. I blinked, and looked around the hall. "Is there a fucking universal signal for every single person to stop talking at the same time or something?" Everyone just looked back, and I heard Eina 'ahem' at me.

Looking back at her, I saw she was way more focused than before. "Mr. Maccillian, do you know why there was an enhanced species there?" Why did that sound like an accusation?

"Uh... I set the 12th on fire?" Eina just STARED at me. I swear I could just see her thoughts. 'Why me?' It was even funnier in my opinion when another guild attendant just brought out a flask of something, muttering 'damned adventurers' in a room full of 'em. "In my defense, the Bad Bats deserved it." It didn't seem to work, but eh.

Eina sighed again, and then... "Unfortunately, due to you admitting to damaging a floor beyond wall tampering, causing an enhanced variant to spawn, and endangering other adventurers, your spoils will have to be confiscated..." I just stared at Eina, and closed my eyes.

"I need a drink." I heard someone chuckle, and I just opened my eyes. "I'll see you later Eina. I'm going to raid Soma's place for wine." I was just done with the guild and its bullshit.

I walked out of the guild, and started making my way to Soma's. I had more than a few hours till we reserved the hostess, so I was going to kill time, and my annoyance, by going to the best brewer in Orario. (If I can't get tipsy from a god of wine, then I'm never going to end up drunk again.) Which was something I never wanted. If I couldn't get drunk, then I was fucked and going to be beyond annoyed.

I didn't know how long it took, but eventually, I was outside Soma's place. There wasn't even anyone outside the gates. "Huh... Yay for incompetence." I walked in, and after opening the front door, where no one was behind, I walked into Soma's place.

The smell of wine and alcohol, the sounds of people drunk out of their minds, the setting reminded me of some of the worst bars I'd ever been to. But that was fine, I just ignored them and kept walking.

And then, I was outside Soma's door. And there was someone there. I didn't remember his name, but I was pretty sure this was their captain. He opened his mouth, but I just tuned him out and walked forward. I only stopped when he put his hand on my shoulder. "Listen int...-" That was as far as he got before I backhanded him into a wall. I was too annoyed to deal with him, so the path of least resistance it was.

I heard him groaning as he tried getting up, but I decided to give him a good kick to head for extra measure. He wasn't dead, I didn't want another fucking fine, but he was passed out now. "Good. Now then, onward and upwards as they say... Whatever."

Then I opened the door.

And the sheer POTENCY of the room's scent made me smile. I also saw Soma, who looked a little lankier than he did in the anime, not even looking towards me. His focus was solely on the cauldron, and the wine inside. I didn't feel like saying anything yet, and just shrugged as I looked for some bottles.

His room had dozens of bottles, but I just didn't know where to start. So I gathered the first ten I saw, and hummed. "Eenie meenie miney mo... You." I grabbed the 7th, lucky number, and popped the cork. The smell was really nice, and I chugged it. (Hm...) It was good, there was no doubt about that... "It's too soft." I was used to the nice rough and burning flow of my old drinks. But Soma's went down without a hitch. Sure I could feel it, which said something, but it didn't have the kick I was looking for. "Welp, next."

And I went for another one. It was like the 1st/7th, and I just hummed. My Regeneration was keeping me from getting tipsy, which I hated because I couldn't turn it off, but I still felt a small buzz when I drank. And that'd have to do for now.

I drank the rest of the bottles, and the worst I got was mildly tipsy. Though that was washed away after a minute. The longest I'd been drunk in this new life was a minute, but I did feel better, so it was worth it.

With 'my' drinks done, I stretched, let out my new best belch, and grinned. "Worth it." That done, I looked at Soma, who was just staring at me. I noticed his gaze on me a minute or two in, but didn't say anything about it. He just stared at me, confused as all fuck, and I shrugged. "I'll come over for more tomorrow, or the day after. Dunno." Soma just blinked, and I looked at him.

"... I shall have more tomorrow then."

"Nice."

"... Join my familia."

"No." Soma blinked, then just went 'oh.' I shrugged at him at that. I was about to leave when he said something else. "Would you provide me with your input then?" I turned back to him, and thought about it.

"Sure. You're the only chance I've got to actually get drunk." Soma nodded, and I turned back to walk out. It went better than I was expecting.

I walked out of Soma's place, and just hummed a tune as I did. Sure I might've lost out on who knows how much Valis, but I got new abilities, a chance to get buzzed, and even got Soma to offer me more. The day was looking up.

And then it got even better!

{Lili's POV}

Another day.

It was another day of 'working' with adventurers. Lili didn't know how much more she could put up with. Going into the dungeon with them, having to accept the insults, the sneers, the blatant disregard for her safety, it was getting to be too much.

The split wasn't ever enough. The 'adventurers' were all the same. 'You're not doing the killing, why should you get anything?' 'You should be lucky you're with us in the first place.' So on and so on.

It was getting too much.

Lili just sighed and kept walking 'home.'

Then she stopped. The smell of wine hit her nose, and she recognized it the moment she smelled it. Looking up, she saw a gray haired man with his arms behind his head, chest laid bare as his sweater was wrapped around his waist. She noticed the ears and tail, a Werewolf, and her mind made the connection instantly. (The adventurer that fought the Amazon... Why?) Even if she didn't like them, when she was practically forcing herself to work with them, she heard news and rumors.

And the rumors surrounding him were plenty. 'The man with four gorgeous women.' 'The undying.' 'The wolf king.' But even with those rumors, all Lili saw was another adventurer. A strong one maybe, but just another adventurer.

Then he suddenly picked Lili up and set her on his shoulder. And Lili's mind froze. "You're coming with me smol!" The sudden move caught her off guard. The way he said that caught her off guard.

And when he suddenly started sprinting and laughing as he did, made Lili cling to him for dear life. "WHYYY?!" He laughed even more at that, and it did not help at all.

"Because it'll be fun! You'll thank me later!" Lili Highly doubted that! VERY HIGHLY!

(This is it. This is how Lili dies.) The man just kept running, and even trying to get him to stop didn't help. He just took Lili's hits, and kept on going. It was like nothing could stop him.

So Lili stopped trying. If this was how she'd die, then maybe it was for the best.

The man eventually made it to wherever he was taking us, and opened the door to a church. But at that point, Lili stopped caring. She heard him call for someone, and after a second, a blonde woman came out, and Lili just knew she was going to die today.

There were three Hellhounds with her after all. What else would that mean other than her being dog food?

But the attack of the hounds never came. The man just took Lili off of his shoulder, which made her notice her bag had been put by the door at some point, and she was dangled in front of the blonde woman. "Here. Make her happy." Huh?

The blonde woman took one look at Lili, squealed, and then Lili was suddenly enveloped in a hug. (What?) The whiplash made it hard to think. One moment, Lili was ready for her death. The next, she was being held in the warmest hug she'd ever known. She had her head pat, and instinctively wrapped her arms around the woman holding her.

"You're just the cutest thing ever! Silver, can we keep her?!" Despite the complement and second half of that, she felt safe, and she didn't know why.

"Up to her. I'd like it if she stayed though." That was strange. Lili was given a choice?

"Maccillian! Did you kidnap a child?!" Someone, Lili didn't know who, but it felt like a goddess.

The man made a sound, then he was quiet for a bit. "... Define kidnap." There was a huff after he said that, and Lili heard the steps get closer. The woman holding her let her see who it was, and Lili saw the goddess she heard earlier.

And the short woman, still taller than Lili, but still short, was not what she was expecting. But it was the feeling that radiated from not only the goddess, but the woman holding her that finally got to Lili.

Safety.

Home.

Family.

Lili felt it, and Lili was frozen. "Hi. He didn't hurt you did he? Everything feeling ok?" The goddess was genuine. Lili could tell.

"Why do you think I hurt her? Where did that come from?" The man was on a couch, just looking at them as a Hellhound laid its head in his lap.

The goddess turned to him, and the raised brow was visible to all. "Didn't you tell Bell 'Now we can go to broken bones' or something like that earlier?" Huh?

"That's different and you know it Tiny." The goddess let a child talk to her like that?

"Sureee. And you saying 'define kidnap' gave me waaay more confidence. Honestly, what'd I do to get such a troublesome child?" The man snorted, and the woman holding Lili giggled. It was a nice sound, but reminded Lili that she was still in her grasp.

"You know you love us Tiny." The goddess huffed, and turned back to Lili, and the kind face she saw, filled with concern, finally did it for Lili.

So much happened in the span of a few minutes. Lili was prepared to go 'home' for the day, then suddenly taken, THEN prepared to die, and now she was feeling safe and concerned over? It was too much.

So Lili just broke. "Oh no! Maccillian, what did you do?! She's CRYING!"

"Don't look at me! I didn't do shit!"

The goddess and man went back and forth there, but Lili tuned them out. Lili didn't know what was going on anymore.

But Lili did know that the blonde woman was very warm, and gave very nice hugs and pats.

That was all that Lili knew before she suddenly passed out from the events of the last few minutes. The last thing Lili saw was the kind smile from the blonde, a confused look on the man's face, and a panicking goddess.

[Omake - Strange man. Soma's general POV]

Stirring my wine was all I'd known or cared for since I've descended. There was no greater activity than creating my wine.

Idly, I knew I'd had a familia, but they did not matter.

Stirring my wine, creating another failure.

There will be a success soon. Perhaps the day after.

Stirring my wine, thinking on the day there will be a perfect creation.

It had been 'perhaps another day' for months, if not years now, but that was ok. There was time for that day to come.

Stirring my wine, thinking of just what that perfect creation would taste like.

There was a sound outside of my room, but I did not care. My wine took precedence, and it was truly all that mattered.

Stirring my wine, not caring at the sound of my chamber doors opening.

My creations would eventually lead to the greatest success the world would ever know. I was sure of it.

Stirring my wine, and only stopping when the person who entered my chambers crossed my vision. I idly wondered if it was one of my children, but even if he was, I did not recognize him. The man paid me no mind, and just hummed as he gathered my failures.

I saw him arrange them on a table, and listened in as he chose one.

I began to stir my wine as he drank. Another one unworthy would soon fall to my failures. It meant nothing to me at this point.

I had lost count at how many children had fallen prey to the effects of my failures. How many had become shells that I had been unable to recognize as they tried my first failures.

I stirred my wine, but stopped again as I heard his words. 'It's too soft' he said. I heard his words, but my gaze was locked onto him. He had not succumbed. He took another bottle, and I watched as he shrugged after a moment.

The process repeated itself until he had finished off the current batch of failures I had. I saw he had shown signs of intoxication, and for a moment, I was disappointed.

But then he shook them off, and hummed. 'Worth it.' He said. He hadn't fallen to my failures, and even seemed to enjoy them.

And when our gazes locked, I spoke without thinking. "...I shall have more tomorrow then." The man gave me a smirk, and nodded.

"Nice." That intrigued me.

"... Join my familia." He looked at me, then shook his head.

"No." Oh...

I watched as he began to walk away, and spoke the last thing I thought. "Would you provide me with your input then?" The man stopped, and after a look, nodded.

"Sure. You're the only chance I've got to actually get drunk" I nodded, and he walked away after that.

And for once, I had a thought that was more than my wine. 'What would his thoughts be about tomorrow's batch?' The first man to taste my failures, and not show any signs of addiction... Someone who could help me create my perfect creation.

This had the opportunity that I needed.

With that thought in mind, I began to stir my wine. Unaware of the small smile that graced my lips.
