780Chapter 103: Almost done
My sleep schedule sucks. I usually go to sleep around 4am, and wake up at 12 or 1, which is why this one's coming out late. Anyway, here ya go.
self-insert-cannon - Thanks.
Tenebris - Yup. Got 8 more chapters aside from this one to put up, so a week of back to back uploads before I re work my first fic.
dragonfighter - Yeah, I'm thinking of either stopping after GoH, or sticking with the first plan and stopping after DxD, not sure yet.
{Maccillian's POV 30 minutes later}
I was getting kind of bored just chilling with my kids. While Eri and Missy were behaving, Sunny was taking a nap on Eri's head after I bullied a pigeon to come over and feed itself to him with my gravity bullshit, Himiko and Lili were above the crane on aura platforms sniping at each other. Himiko was going wild with her throwing knives, while Lili was showing out with her sniper, shooting down her sisters' knives with practiced ease and hoping around the sky without so much as a glance down. Watching the two of them play around was entertaining though, and satisfied me for a bit.
I was amused though when Lili spun, caught one of Himiko's knives with her tail, and shot it out towards her when she finished the spin with a double tap. Her sister dodged the knife and first shot, while getting one of her ears clipped by the second. (Oof, that's gotta hurt.)
Right as I had that thought, Missy tapped my skull, getting my attention. Looking at her, she looked to be a mix of amused, excited, and longing. It didn't take a genius to pick up on what she was going to ask about, she'd asked about it once, and had taken that answer in stride. Though, the demonstration was making her giddy. "So, dad," It always interested me how quickly my girls adopted the familial labels with us, and Missy had taken to them with gusto. "I know I asked this already but uh, how long till I can prove myself?" She hid it well, but I could see the small bit of envy in her eyes. To be fair, she had every right to be envious. Werewolves were just that better after all.
Eri seemed interested in this too, so I tilted my head a bit so I was looking at the both of them, and answered. [Depends. Who do you want to prove yourself to?]
That didn't seem to be the response she was looking for, and it set her on the back foot. Thinking on it, she was quiet for a moment, before responding with a cheeky grin somewhat similar to Lili's. "Depends," Oh this little shit. "What's the whole criteria thing you and my moms have?" That was a good question.
Given the fact we were Werewolves for a year and some change, we all understood just what our individual criteria were. [For me, it's purely combat related, just like Kiriko's, Kendo's and Rika's. If you could duke it out with someone above your weight class, some dangerous animal or monster, and survive, then you'd earn our bites.] They both nodded at that, Eri was surprisingly attentive at this, which made me wonder if we never spoke to her about this. [For Saeko, it's a mix of combat and intelligence. Yes, she'll be impressed if you can man handle a bear, but can you fight it the most efficient way? Then there's Saya, whose bite is more for intelligence. As long as you prove to her you've got an IQ of somewhere in the 180-300 range, then you're good in her book. Sure, you'll impress her with combat capabilities, but it's the smarts for her.] Izuku, Weiss and Polendina would probably be the only people that'd be enough for Saya, and that was saying something. [Shizuka is the only one that doesn't have combat requirements. Hers are for loyalty, more specifically the loyalty to family and friends that's unquestionable.]
That made the both of them think, Missy more deeply then Eri, and I waited to see how they'd reply. It didn't take long for Eri to speak up, and it was for a good question. "What about me?" She seemed confused, and a little bit sad as she asked that.
I wasn't stupid, and so I knew what she meant. [We've decided that if you haven't proved yourself by the time you're 12, your mothers would duke it out for the honor.] Missy blinked at that, and I could practically hear her thoughts of 'What the hell?'
Eri, on the other hand, smiled a big ol smile, and threw her arms around my neck, and buried her face into my fur, almost knocking Sunny off her head. Surprisingly, the little dragon didn't react to the moving pillow that was my youngest. "Thank you thank you thank you Mommy!"
I grinned at that, and started nuzzling the small Orihime tier healer the girls and I adopted. [You're welcome Unicorn.] A sudden and very quiet 'click' above us clued me into someone having taken a picture, and when I looked to see who it was, I was half surprised it was Rika.
My favorite sniper had a big grin on her face, one may even say it was a shit eating grin, and was looking all sorts of pleased with herself. "Ain't this just adorable? The big bad wolf and the Unicorn." That got snorts out of me and Missy, while Eri just got even happier now that she was here.
Missy though, she rolled her eyes at Rika, getting her attention. "What am I, chopped liver?" I was tempted to make a joke like 'no, but you might be a tasty morsel', but decided not too since Eri was right here.
That got a laugh out of Rika though, who looked like she was going to say something, but had suddenly twisted out of the way of a knife Himiko had thrown, that was caught and thrown back by Lili. "Hold on." Turning to our vampiric daughter, Rika huffed, and did the 'annoyed mom' look. "Do I need to ground you?"
Himiko, who had practically froze as her mother looked at her, said that, blinked, then panicked. While we were all really laid back with the whole 'grounding' thing, we all had specific punishments if the girls ever went too far. So far, Himiko was the only one to ever be grounded, which wasn't exactly a surprise, and afterwords she would do her best to not get grounded again. "Nah nah nah, that was totally HER fault, I ain't do nun!" She practically stabbed in the direction Lili was, and we could all see the 'innocent' look on my eldest daughter's face.
She'd gotten good at the whole routine, could probably sell sand to a camel, but Rika was probably the only wife that that didn't work on, three guesses why but the first two didn't count. "Were you aiming at me?" Oou, this could be the deciding factor between grounding or not.
Lili dropped the 'innocent' act, and shrugged. "No. Lili would've thrown it better if we were." That cheeky little girl.
That seemed to be a good thing to say, since Rika, Missy, and Eri laughed, while Himiko balked at them. "Whada hell? What kind of favoritism is this?!" She paused here, blinked, then had a 'Aha!' Moment. "It's cuz she's small, ain't it! She's got the lil 'Imma smol baby dat can't do no wrong' act down pat!"
Lili huffed, while the rest of us, I was lightly chuckling at that one, kept laughing. "Lili is NOT small, we are FUN SIZED. Get it! F.U.N S.I.Z.E.D!" That just made everyone laugh some more, even Himiko was cackling now that she'd jumped on her sisters button. The former Pallum just pouted, crossed her arms, and turned away from us. "Lili does not understand how this family works." Rika and I snorted.
We were going to keep that up, but a sudden feeling of something skipping made me pause, and feel around. It didn't take long for me to find the source, and I wasn't surprised at what I was seeing. In the distance, which is an understatement mind you since she was at least a few miles away and using binoculars to look at us, Homura was chilling and observing us. I was curious though, since she should've been in class at this time, but there she was. Humming to myself, I came to a decision, and barked at Rika. 'I'll check something out, be right back.' I heard a 'whatever' from her, and gently got up.
My daughters understood what I was doing, and didn't bother stopping me. Though, Missy decided to be helpful, and bent the space in front of me so I'd be directly above Homura when I stepped through it. That got her a lick to the cheek, which she exaggeratedly went 'ughhh' to. Sure, she didn't like the slobber, but a quick bit of aura, Silver Clan version, and she was good.
We also all knew she was happy with the physical affection even if it came from a big ol wolf.
Anyway, I walked away from Missy and Eri, Rika was there now so she could watch em, and Stepped towards Homura.
{Homura's POV}
Observing what I was 100% sure were another series of anomalies, I couldn't help but let my mind wander as I tried to put the pieces of the puzzle together. (Seeing as they're all bunched together, they have to be some kind of family unit. It makes the most sense, and given the massive wolf with the child and younger girl, it should probably be a pack. Discounting the child and girl in the air doing... Whatever it is they're doing, the purple haired woman could be an issue. She wasn't there before I re-positioned, so she either teleported, or has some form of invisibility... Dangerous. The two girls 'fighting' in the air are dangerous considering they're fighting in the air... I'm unsure of what the little girl and other blonde can do, but they may not be as big as an issue as... The... Wolf...) Furrowing my brow, I looked over at the crane, and froze when I realized that yes... The silver furred wolf was missing...
And I didn't know HOW!
Frantically looking around, I searched the air, crane, and immediate area around it to no avail. I didn't know what set me off about the silver furred one, but I just KNEW it was exceedingly dangerous. A part of me recognized that it was too far for the wolf to have come anywhere near me in the span of a few moments, while the rest of me understood that with my capability to stop time and re-position at will, meant I had NO ground to stand on. However, it was while I was looking that a silver wall materialized in front of me, and instantly, I froze time to understand just what was going on.
But somehow, I was too late. The silver wall in front of me wasn't the only one, and as I turned around, I realized that I was boxed in... Literally. Looking up didn't help my situation since I saw a massive floating wolf... A SILVER wolf... And it was grinning at me. It's tail was wagging, the non existent... No, there was wind that gently caressed its fur, and it's slit silver and black eyes were practically broadcasting its amusement.
In the span of a few seconds, I had been trapped, and not even my ability to stop time saved me.
And, in the first time in a long time, I was afraid. No loop had ever had a situation like this. I didn't know where to start with getting out of it, or what to do. I had no information on this wolf, no idea just how dangerous it was, and judging by the way it had managed to gain the upper hand against me it would most likely be VERY dangerous, which just made this so much worse. (I can't do anything.) That terrified me far more then any Witch.
I didn't know how long I spent staring at the wolf, too afraid to move due to some primal instinct to just stay absolutely still, but the silence was inevitably broken when the wolf gently floated down, and landed on the roof with a quiet 'click' as its claws touched the roof. Even being on the roof, it was still bigger then I was, which wasn't helping my fear of the situation. But the 'Woof' followed by the wolf grinning, seemed to release some tension, considering it didn't attack me... Yet. I was still tense, and was moments away from diving to grab a weapon if needed, when the wolf's form rippled, and in the blink of an eye, a man took its place.
I was obviously surprised, because even if I had suspicions of what exactly the wolf and other dog featured people were, seeing it in person was surprising. What was even more surprising was the man himself. He was easily a bit over 2 meters tall, long silver hair that went past his shoulders, the same slit silver and black eyes, and somehow fully clothed. (How?) I was sure this was another thing I had no ground to stand on, but that didn't matter.
The earrings on either ear seemed important, especially the silver sword that reminded me of my Soul Gem, but I again, had no information on it. It was frustrating to me, but I couldn't allow my frustration to show in case it would start a fight. So, keeping my eyes locked with the man in front of me, I waited for him to speak, because I knew I wasn't in control, and I was sure he knew it too.
I didn't need to wait long, since after a few moments, the man grinned, nodded to himself, then... Pat my head? It was such an unexpected action that I wasn't prepared for it, and had let it happen. "I was tempted to ask if you should've been in school right now, then realized I didn't really give a shit." Oh... Ok..? He must've read the look on my face since he laughed, and gently ruffled my hair, which felt nice for some reason. "Yeah, so I needed something else to break the ice, and just decided to try this. So far, it's working."
At the moment, I didn't know why I said this, but years later, I assumed it was because of the weird mixture of emotions I had been feeling at the time. "That's mostly because I'm too terrified to do anything." I froze after the words left my mouth, and dreaded the man's response. (Even if he crushes my head, I'll have at least a moment to move and bring out a weapon.) Granted, I knew I was still trapped and had probably no chance of winning against him, that didn't mean I wouldn't go down without a fight.
My worry seemed to be unneeded, since the man just laughed, and gave me one final pat before taking his hand off my head. "Yeah, I guess I AM 'shit your pants' type of scary. It'd take an absolute moron to not fear me." I was pretty sure he was laying it on thick, but I wasn't going to say that to his face. Unknowing of my thoughts, he went on. "Anyway, you're probably wondering 'oh terrifying and mysterious Werewolf man, why are you here?' Yeah?" I wouldn't have put it like that... Perhaps ever... But I nodded along because I couldn't very well say that either. Seeing my nod, the man grinned, and I tried to not let myself be distracted by the swaying of his tail. "Well, to answer your question little lady," Didn't know how I felt about that. "We're fixing this world up before we fuck off back to ours." What? "None of us really like that little fake mascot, so we're dealing with that, the whole Witch thing, and seeing if we can fix the whole 'Magical Girls become Witches' issue too. We've got ideas and all that, one of which is the whole Bell Tower that my sister made." There was too much going on too quickly. Suddenly, he stopped, and hummed at me. "If we're right, you won't have to loop anymore, and can actually start living again." That had my blood run cold. He gained a certain glint in his eyes after that, and I couldn't unde...- "Good job not lo...-"
I had froze before, but this was different. I held no cards while the other side had everything. He knew about Witches and Magical Girls. Knew about the Incubator.
He knew I looped... And he said 'Good job.'
He might not have known how many or just what I'd done, but the thought of someone KNOWING, and not immediately killing or kidnapping me was some kind of reassurance to me... The fact he APPROVED of me, even after that, just felt like I'd shed a weight I didn't know I was carrying... And if HE knew... Then... (... They know...) Just ONE person knowing the truth terrified me. But he wasn't alone. (They know... Oh god... They know...) My closest held secret was out, and that alone nearly drove me to a panic attack. But when one adds EVERYTHING else, it was no surprise that I found it difficult to focus or even breath. I had been prepared for Witches, Magical Girls, the Incubator, and preparing for Walpurgisnacht... I wasn't prepared for this. I wasn't prepared for someone saying and accepting me for what I'd done.
I was in the beginning of my attack when the man turned back into a wolf, and gently lowered his head towards me. I reacted and wrapped my arms around his head, while burying my head into his fur to keep myself from collapsing, while also seeking comfort in the closest and softest thing in range. His fur was soft and the warmth from it and his form just helped ground me. I couldn't help but just keep my arms and head on the wolf, not even noticing him slowly maneuvering me to the floor and curling around me. It was just too much for me to notice.
{Maccillian's POV}
Looking at the small form of Homura that was trying to bury herself into my fur, I couldn't help but think about what just happened. (Huh... I might've fucked up.) I knew I wasn't the best person to talk about feelings, I could be insensitive as hell, but I forgot that despite what she'd been through, Homura was a child. Even in the series, she broke down once or twice, so it shouldn't really surprise me that she would break down now... (Well shit.) Now I had a Magical Girl that made time her bitch, crying into my fur. Looking at her, I came to an important conclusion. (Hestia and Shizuka must never know.) If they did, I'd never hear the end of it. That, and Shizuka would hit me with the 'disappointed in you' look, and that was bad for my heart.
Unfortunately, that was when a familiar stoic voice sounded off in my mind. *So, you would prefer this to not be known, my king?* Ah shit.
Thinking on it for a second, it made sense that Garda wouldn't be frozen considering she was in my soul, and I wasn't frozen. Now I just had to deal with the issue of my longtime right hand having some dirt on me. [Garda, my right paw, warrior of warriors...-] I could tell she both knew what I was doing, and was basically internally grinning from the smug stoicism I was feeling, which was a strange combination of the two, but I kept going. [What happens in a world of frozen time, STAYS in frozen time.]
Garda hummed for a few moments, and I thought that was going to work. *But MY world is not frozen, my king. Therefor, that does not apply.* I blinked, and realized that yes... She had a point... She knew that, and went on. *Using that logic, I shall inform my queens that you have caused the child great distress.* Double shit.
Garda had me, and since I couldn't order her not to tell, I could I just wouldn't, I decided to go the easy route and bribe her. [Right, what do you want to keep this between us?]
I heard her hum for a bit, a bit in which I made sure to keep comforting Homura with my general fluffy-ness, when she had her answer. *I wish to have a chocolate cake made by my king and the one known as Archer.* Huh...
[Done.] That wasn't as bad as I had expected.
Garda laughed softly in my mind, obviously pleased with herself. *A pleasure doing business with you, my king.* She retreated after that, probably to go back to reading or watching whatever's on her focus. Now, one might wonder how a focus could work in my soul, and I for one will say, 'Fuck if I know.' It worked, I didn't question it, and Garda got prime entertainment. She had libraries of books, movies, TV shows, anime, and whatever else she or the other girls like in her focus. Plus, my soul is pretty much self sufficient, without the Wild Hunt out there my soul has actual wild animals for her to eat, so she's basically living in a resort 24/7. Add to the fact that since she almost always saw what I was doing, she could and would look away if it was a personal moment or I asked her too, meant she would always be the first to find out blackmail material against me.
Granted, some of those points applied to Hope too, but she was reasonable... Most of the time.
Anyway, now that my bartering with Garda was done, I turned back to Homura, who had cried herself to sleep, and blinked. (How did I miss her going to sleep?) I could easily blame Garda...-
*Ahem.* I ignored that.
Anyway, I could blame her, but considering I was good at multitasking thanks to my INT/ARC and WIS, there wasn't really a good enough excuse to miss the fact a child had cried herself to exhaustion into my fur. So, sighing, I decided to pretend I noticed when she did, and turned towards the barrier. Since I knew she wasn't going to run off now, I willed it to drop... Only to come to the realization that time was still stopped, which meant my barrier wouldn't respond to me... Which ALSO meant that I was trapped in MY OWN BARRIER... (They must never know...) The whistling coming from Garda tuned me into the fact that unless I bribed her again, they WOULD know... [... Make your offer.] Garda chuckled in my mind, and I just knew she was enjoying this very much.
{Some time later, Homura's POV}
Groggily, I began to wake up, but I was too exhausted to WANT to get up, and my pillow was far too comforting for me to let go... Pillow..? (I don't sleep with a body pillow...) Slowly, I moved one of my hands, and pat my 'pillow.' I could feel it shift, and when I felt the warmth of my 'pillow', I couldn't stop myself from mechanically looking around... And turning right to the amused silver and onyx eyes of the silver wolf I was hugging. For a moment, we stared at each other, then the next, I blushed and looked away, deciding to bury my face into his fur so I didn't see his amused eyes. I hadn't been so vulnerable in a long time, but one meeting with this man had me collapse in mental exhaustion. It was both suspicious, and highly embarrassing. The wolf barked out a laugh, which made me blush even more. "It;s not funny... Not at all" That just got me another bark of laughter.
I did my best to tone out the laughter, and focus on the situation at hand. Firstly, I wasn't killed, despite the fact I was completely at his mercy, which was a good sign. (Could also be because he feared being trapped in frozen time in case I died.) That was also a good point. Secondly, despite the odd feeling of being able to trust the Werewolf, I didn't see the need or feel the urge to spill all of my secrets, so a compulsion of some sorts was either ruled out, or in play but at VERY subtle levels... And I wasn't sure which of those was scarier. (Let's just shelve that idea for now, and move on.) Thirdly, despite knowing what they know, the woman made no move against me, and the man chose to comfort me... (Can I...) I was worried to finish that thought, and a part of me didn't want too.
I was brought out of my thoughts when the wolf, (I should really ask for his name), shifted around me, and stood up. A small part of me lamented the loss of one of the softest pillows I'd ever had, while the rest of me watched as he shifted back to his human form. I watched as he stretched a bit, then almost reacted physically when he suddenly grabbed me by my armpits, which caught me off guard, and put me on his shoulder, while wrapping his suddenly longer tail around my legs like some kind of brace or seat belt... All in one seemingly practiced motion. I was... Confused at this, and shot him a look, which he shrugged his free shoulder at. "I have 6 year old, and a very short teenager." He said that like it explained everything...
And on some strange level, I believe it did.
Anyway, he went on. "So, you ready to drop the time fuckery now, or did you want to cuddle my wolf form some more?" I blushed at that, and once again, turned away from his amused gaze. He chuckled some more, but I pretended not to listen, and dropped my time freeze. The 'click' of my shield was all the warning he received as the sounds of the city returned, which caused him to stop laughing. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw his ears fwip, which seemed adorable, and watched as the silver barriers around the roof began to dispel. One moment it was there, and the next it was gone. "Right, now that that's done." He stopped speaking there, and since I was curious, I looked to see where his gaze was, and saw him looking towards the crane he was laying on earlier.
I didn't know what or who he was specifically looking at, but before I could wonder any more, he nodded, and took a step forward...
And I almost immediately lost my breakfast at the sensation of my stomach doing back flips like it was nobody's business. I didn't even notice the change in scenery, too busy trying to keep my breakfast down. "Huh, thought she'd handle that better." No clue who that was.
The man, whose name I STILL didn't know, just chuckled as he gently brought me off his shoulder, and onto the crane. I instantly dropped onto said crane and hugged it to feel grounded, because whatever just happened was perhaps the worst form of travel I'd ever experienced. I ignored the snickers around me, and went back to focusing on not throwing up."I can't tell if I should laugh or not, cause on the one hand, that's funny as hell to me, but on the other, I get it." He got it... He knew?!
Whipping my head up to him, I glared my best glare, which just seemed to amuse him given the way he grinned, while his tail happily wagged. "Yes?"
"You knew." It wasn't a question.
He nodded, and I was oh so tempted to take out a Browning and lay into him, but decided not too. Not because I was unsure he'd survive it, I was assuming he had some form of healing factor due to being a Werewolf, but because of the company around us. Despite being incapacitated as I was, I still kept an eye on my surroundings, and since I knew he had a child with him before he came to surprise and corner me, I did not want to expose a child to gunfire if I could help it... That, and I was sure if I pulled a weapon in said child's general vicinity, I would find myself dead faster then I could blink.
Anyway, I huffed at him, and glared harder when he laughed. "Oh come off it, you'll be fi...-" He paused for some reason, blinked, then peered over the edge of the crane. I wasn't able to see what he was looking at, but I did hear his next words. "Note to self, Garda, and Hope, remind me to find someone to teach Shizuka how to fly in a city." What? "Maybe get bunny to bully Hawks into it." Double what?
Before I could voice my confusion, the blonde on the crane, as well as the child, went over to the side of the crane, to see what he saw. The child arrived first, and when I saw the big smile on her face, it was simple to understand that whoever this 'Shizuka' was, was someone sh...- "WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" What?
A golden form shot up into the sky, and over the crane, allowing me to see the familiar figure of the woman who came to grab Tomoe, floating inside a massive golden bird construct... (... I don't think I fully understood the observation I've just made.) It got stranger when I realized Tomoe was still on her back, clinging to her for dear life, and looking quite disheveled. And for some reason, the vindictive part of my mind found amusement in this. (Thank god I'm not the only one.) Then I remembered the fact I hadn't made an impression on this loop's Tomoe, aside from what Madoka told her. (This... This could get confrontational...) It was a possibility.
Anyway, the golden bird perched itself on top of the crane, and we watched as the two women inside it started to shift down towards its talons, all the while it began to dissipate. A few moments of watching it happen later, and they were on the beam it had perched on, Tomoe still on the woman's back. Though, they didn't stay there since the woman, Shizuka, smiled as she looked down to the rest of us, and hopped down to the section we were at. "Silveeeeeer!" All the while Tomoe screamed, though I wasn't sure if anyone other then I was paying her attention.
Shizuka landed, and the moment she did, Tomoe un-clung herself from Shizuka's back, and collapsed onto the crane, practically mirroring me in her actions of hugging the 'ground.' This went ignored by almost everyone else as the blonde Werewolf went over to 'Silver', and started hugging him. I heard them start talking, but tuned them out though, and focused on Tomoe. The other blonde had walked over to her, crouched down, and started poking her, much to the annoyance of the veteran Magical Girl, who turned to glare at her, which didn't seem to do much. "Can I help you?"
The smaller blonde shrugged, and kept poking her. "Nah, you're kinda wimpy though." Tomoe glared harder, but again, it wasn't very effective.
As that was going on, I couldn't help the thought that went through my mind. (What did that have to do with this situation?) I was pretty sure that not understanding was becoming my new default for this loop.
I was brought out of my thoughts after a squeal filled the air, and I turned to see the source was 'Shizuka', who was hugging an amused purple haired dark skinned woman with the same ears and tail as her and 'Silver.' I noticed the weapon on her back, a sniper rifle that seemed to have some plates on it, which was strange, but I didn't know why it was. "Shizuka, we literally saw each other like a half hour ago." Good to know I guess?
Shizuka just happily hummed, and kept hugging. "I knooow, but I still wanna hug!"
The purple haired woman rolled her eyes, and pat her on the head... Like a child, and smiled. "Whatever. " She looked over to me and Tomoe at this point, and her smile turned into a grin. "Well, looks like we got an audience. And here I thought we had enough voyeurs in the family." I heard Tomoe squeak like a mouse, while I had a very faint blush at her words.
Silver though, laughed as his tail wrapped around, and brought the small child with the horn... (Wait a minute... A what?!) I hadn't noticed it before as her hair had managed to cover it, but the small silvett had a horn growing out of her head... (What the actual fuck is going on?) My new state of being was a chaotic one, but one I just did not have the energy to argue against it
Anyway, Silver had brought the child up to his shoulder, and both of them intruded into the hug, which was amusing since the child was above them, but decided to try petting them... Strange, but it was also highly adorable.
From there, they talked, I tuned most of it out in order to get my thoughts under control, and fully process my current situation. I was tempted to stop time to do so, which I usually would have done, but the fact that 'Silver' was unaffected by my ability stopped me from doing so. I didn't want to stop time only for him to become annoyed at me. Not because I valued his opinion of me that much, no matter what the part of me that felt that was a lie said, but because I didn't want it to turn into any kind of altercation.
So I was doing this the normal way, and going over the most recent events as they happened. (It all started with Shi...-) A silenced 'BANG' prevented me from even starting on the first thought, and I reacted, firstly by rolling as I stopped time, which didn't stop 'Silver' or the child on his shoulder, and repositioning myself onto a knee while I brought out a pistol from my shield. With my weapon out, I searched for the source of the shot, and noticed the purple haired woman had her sniper in one of her hands, casually holding it like a pistol, while the barrel had a small bit of smoke rising out of it. I didn't have an angle to see just what or who she had shot, unless I went to see where the bullet had gone.
Though, before I could do that, I was given a raised brow by 'Silver', who seemed far more amused then he should be. "Sooo..." I rolled my eyes at the tone he used, and was about to un-freeze time, when the child started poking both women. We both watched as Shizuka and the purple haired woman were un-frozen, then re-frozen when the child yipped, and retracted her hands. 'Silver' blinked, hummed, then grinned all in the span of a second. "This could be fun." That got a confused look from the child, but she, and I, saw what he meant when he began jabbing his fingers at the women, un-freezing them for a moment, only to retract his fingers before doing it again... And again... And again, with ridiculous speed, all the while a smile grew across his face.
As he was doing the, both women would only have a moment to take in the fact they were free, which lead to some interesting expressions. The purple haired woman's face was becoming a scowl of annoyance, but you could visibly watch as that scowl formed, as if it were a frame by frame presentation. Shizuka on the other hand, seemed to just wait it out, that woman had the patience of a saint.
Eventually, he was too slow, and the purple haired woman caught his hand in an iron grip, as she scowled at him with all of her annoyance on display. "Silver, I will neuter you."
'Silver' rolled his eyes at the threat, and put his arms down, getting his hand free as he did so somehow. "Fineee, fun while it lasted though, right Unicorn?" The child nodded with an enthusiastic 'un', and that seemed to be the end of that situation. Seeing that, I un-froze time, and received a grateful smile from the women, and 'Silver.'
"Huh, so THAT'S what it's like." I turned to see that came from the blonde that had been poking Tomoe, and noticed the interested look on her face. "Mine's still cooler though." That confirmed the minor suspicion of her having powers. Minor, because I was sure she did, but just wanted confirmation.
Though, before I could speculate on what her power was, an unknown voice sounded off above us. "Kinda weird tho, right chibi?" I whipped around to said voice, and looked away the moment I did, considering I was given a rather dangerous up skirt from ANOTHER blonde. I hadn't looked at her for long, but I recognized the blonde hair as well as the ears and tail, so that was enough for me to recognize her position here... Kind of.
(There are too many of them for my health.) All these Werewolves were really too much.
"We don't think so." Another voice I didn't recognize spoke up, and I looked to the source, to find a... Child(?) dressed similarly to Kyouko, with short shorts that the fiery spear wielder would approve of, and a rather fine blouse. There was a sniper strapped onto her back, which baffled me for a bit, but I decided to let the chaos go on. She looked at me, curious, while her tail swayed about in the wind. "It's easy to just think of it as moving VERY fast, while everyone else is too slow to follow," She sent a quick smirk towards the other blonde floating across from her. "Something YOU'D be used too, wouldn't you you slow slag?" The blonde in the sailor uniform twitched, and looked ready to jump the silvett.
As for me, after hearing that, I took a look at her hair and tail, which let me see she wasn't a blonde, which despite the impending chaos that was about to come, made me feel better. (Granted, she's still a Werewolf with a blonde tip on her ear, but she's not a blonde. There have been too many weird blonde's in this loop for me.) Shaking that off, my brain forced me to recognize the fact that both of them were standing on glowing platforms of brown and gold energy... Which was a thing they could all do I guessed?
Anyway, those two looked ready to go at each other, but suddenly, the sounds of someone cheering rather loudly filled the air, and was rapidly getting closer. I, as well as everyone in my field of view, blinked, and turned to the source... Which happened to be another familiar face, who was riding on the back of a large brownish orange furred wolf, while another slightly smaller wolf of the same coloration was running beside it... (What the actual fuck is going on?) At this point, Walpurgisnacht was sounding like something I would prefer to this.
The wolves, as well as Kyouko, arrived at our location, and a excited Kyouko flipped into the air, and landed on the crane, a bit away from us... A side note of this situation was that I was realizing this crane had enough space for all of us, and that slightly confused me. "And she sticks the landing! The crowd goes wiiild!" That brought me back, Kyouko's proclamations were loud, and I saw the wolves that were with Kyouko land next to her, and shift into two women that shared quite the resemblance.
Seeing that, 'Silver' met the eyes of the older woman, and grinned. "Well Mama Calvary, looks like her first ride went better then yours."
That got a scoff from the woman. "Ah shut it Millie," Millie? "I was a base human that just finished dealing with zombies," EXCUSE ME?! "I wasn't ready for a cracked out wolf to run and do parkour with me on his back."
Hearing that, there was silence for a bit as everyone took that in, I shared a look with my fellow Magical Girls, seeing they were just as confused as I was, they also seemed surprised that the three of us, two in Kyouko and Tomoe's case, and turned back to 'Silver/Millie', who had tilted his head onto the child's leg, and blinked. There were two snorts from the purple haired woman and the blonde in the sailor uniform, and then he spoke. "Just because you have a viable excuse, doesn't take away from the fact it was hilarious." There were two more snorts from the same duo as before, while the woman in the white cat suit giggled.
The giggling from said woman earned her a look of 'betrayal' from her possible family member. "Et tu, Rei? I thought I raised you better then that." Ah, mother it was then.
'Rei' giggled a bit more, before giving her mother(?) a smile. "I mean, you diiid, but then I remember the whole 'oh sweet ground' moment you had, and then Uncle Za going out to have fun with THEM, which made you freak out, and I don't care until I'm done laughing." Huh...
My fellow Magical Girls were as silent as I was at that answer, so the older woman's nod, and annoyed sigh was the only thing that happened. "You know what... That's fair... I don't like it, and it annoys the hell outta me to admit it, but fair."
From there, the rest of the Werewolves grouped up, and conversations began anew. All the while the three of us just took the scene in of them speaking, the purple haired sniper and the older woman ribbed at each other, the girl in the sailor uniform, the younger blonde as well as the silver haired Werewolf went to their... Father(?), who was still being held onto by Shizuka. It was as if the three of us weren't there... Which seemed to set off a certain red head, since she whistled rather loudly, catching everyone's attention. "Ok, time out... What's ACTUALLY going on here?" She was looking at the woman she rode on... That was a thought... Anyway, she was looking at her, and the woman shrugged as she turned to 'Silver.'
Said Werewolf blinked, then flicked his ear in a way that seemed to annoy the woman. She narrowed her eyes at him, looked like she was going to say something, but flicked her eyes to the small child on his shoulder, opting to instead shift slightly, while her tail thrashed to the side, which made 'Silver's' eye twitch... (Is this... Is this what communicating with only body language looks like?) I'd never seen such a thing... It was oddly enlightening.
Finally, after a few moments, 'Silver' groaned, and looked to Kyouko, Tomoe, then me. "Alright, gather round kiddies, it's EXPOSITION time." Uh... Huh?
{Bunch of exposition and a buncha minutes later}
Looking at the shining bell tower, with both Magical Girls by my side as we sat on the ledge of the crane, I felt horribly conflicted, and unbelievably elated. 'Silver', whose name was actually Maccillian Silver Zaka, had explained... Everything. At first, my former teammates didn't believe him, it would be preposterous if someone had randomly told me I had the power to go back in time before I had even made my contract with the Incubator, but him making me tell the two of them some personal things I shouldn't have known, and the man himself swearing it was true, they reluctantly accepted it... Reluctantly.
After that came the revelations of Witches being fallen Magical Girls, which had almost devolved into Tomoe and Kyouko nearly having panic attacks, only for Shizuka to suddenly start burning with golden flames, sending soothing emotions out towards us. It helped me calm down as well, I would always have a small part of myself that would wither whenever Tomoe broke down or was eaten, so that was nice. It helped that she was enveloped in a hug by the blonde Werewolf, which turned into a group hug when the horned child joined in.
Kyouko and I had stood by the side as that happened, unsure of just what to do, but we were both dragged into it when the older woman, Kiriko, had pretty much pushed Kyouko into herself, while the blonde in the sailor uniform 'Sparta Kicked' me into the group. I glared at her for it, but the calming flames had made it difficult for me to stay made...
Anyway, the explanation went from there, and it went to the Incubator's existence. Surprisingly, the thing that was shot had been one of the excess bodies of the creature, which had been a surprise to both Magical Girls, and even me to a certain extent due to the fact that the purple haired woman had sensed it. That portion almost required both of them to bask in Shizuka's flames throughout the entire time, Tomoe because of her despair, and Kyouko due to her rage. They made it through though.
Things really picked up though when they got to the present, and explained the purpose of the bell tower that had sprouted out of nowhere. To say we were speechless would be an understatement. I was and am highly conflicted. It was everything I had hoped for. The chance to be free of the Incubator and Witches. To not have to loop... To be free...
And to finally free Madoka.
It was a dream come true... One that hadn't truly set in yet. I knew it was coming, but as it had yet to happen, I was still worried this was some sort of dre...- "Hey stopwatch." My brow twitched at that, and I resisted the urge to attack Kyouko.
Turning to her, she was on my left, while Tomoe was on my right, being given a lap pillow by Shizuka. Everyone else had gone, they'd gone up to the sky, and were seemingly prepared to observe the changes they were about to enact. I saw she wasn't actually looking at me, and was instead looking out over the city. Not to anywhere specific, just looking over it in general. "How many times?" Ah...
I looked back to the city, and lowly hummed as I thought. "I... I'm not sure." Out of the corner of my eyes, I could see all three of them were listening. "A part of me feared keeping track. Feared knowing how many times I failed... All I know, and combined with an educated guess, is that I am somewhere passed the 40's." Saying that, Kyouko flinched, while Tomoe stiffened. Shizuka didn't seem to have a reaction, but I thought her tail was waving slower then before. (It's both difficult, and simpler to read a Werewolf when they have a tail to give them away.)
There was silence for a bit, then Kyouko reached out, and wrapped her arm on my shoulder. It was a sudden thing, and not something I would really expect from her given her past. "That's fucked up." She didn't say anything else, and just kept looking towards the city...
She wasn't wrong though.
We all stayed like that for a bit, until eventually, the bell tower's bell began to ring, while the tower itself began to glow. (And so it begins.) We watched as the light shone like a beacon, and listened as the bell sounded like an old wedding reception. (Fitting that the end of my nightmare is signaled by a pure white bell tower.) The bell rang one more time, then the light radiating from the tower shot into the sky, piercing the clouds.
The sound of the bell had been heard all over Japan, and if it hadn't been for the Live Feed going on on national television, none outside of Ground Zero would have known what it was. But because of it, households across the nation saw the phenomenon, and watched as the pure light banished the clouds, clearing the sky, and giving a perfect view as a golden totem of a Hearth formed in said sky. The golden Hearth glowed like a second sun, and the fire roared, rising to the heavens.
The flames continued to grow and pulse for a few minutes, until the words were spoken by a certain goddess. It wouldn't be heard by anyone not of the group, but as she spoke "Kάθαρση", the flames expanded outwards, and flooded the country. All around Japan, panic ensued as golden fire washed through the streets, buildings, forests, and just about everywhere else. The panic was short lived though, when the people felt the calming effects, and felt/saw the obvious healing properties of the flames. Hospital patients, geriatric patients, retired veterans, any and every injured person in the country felt the effects, and were healed.
Yet, it hadn't been just the mundanes that had been healed. Thanks to Saeko and Saya 'borrowing' a Magical Girl, they had determined that yes, awakening their aura WOULD fix them from the Incubator's actions. So, across the country, and all across the world, certain girls heard a voice ring out in their heads. ~For it is in passing that we achieve immortality.~ Hope's range being worldwide wasn't a surprise, but the fact she could remotely awaken anyone, was.
Aside from them, the Witches had also been washed in Hestia's cleansing flames. It hadn't been tested, but the results were still interesting. It turned out that no, Witches couldn't be returned to Magical Girls, the shattering of their Soul Gems had truly led to their souls being destroyed, so even if there had been a body to return too, they had no soul to do the living in said body. That had been the only set back of the whole situation, really.
And all the while this was going on, a certain Incubator would find that not only any surviving bodies it had were destroyed, it would be on the bad end of the strongest Telepath in the world. After all, it wasn't like she couldn't multitask.
{A half hour later, Maccillian's POV}
After Hestia cleaned the country of Witches, while Hope dealt with the rest of this places issues, we had gotten back together on the crane. Shizuka and Mami had gone to grab the latter's stuff, which she had then dumped onto Lili, almost literally, who had put it all away. It was a surprise that she was so willing to get the fuck out, but when you put together all the facts, it wasn't THAT surprising.
So, there we were, a door to our front gate open behind us, almost everyone was on the other side now, and Homura in front of us, being hugged my Mami. My newest blonde child apparently felt guilty for some reason, I hadn't asked if she was told about something that should make her feel guilty, but it was whatever. Homura had looked like a fish outta water though when she was hugged, so that was amusing. ~Our sense of what is and is not amusing could be called strange, brother.~ I snorted at that, which got me a look or two, but I waved those looks off.
[True, but it is what is is.] Hope, who was lazily floating above me, she wanted to be the last one to go through for some reason, just hummed at that, not following it up with anything.
Not that I expected one.
Back to the now, Mami broke off the hug, which gave Kyouko the chance to pat Homura on the shoulder, with a serious face that didn't have any business on a middle schoolers face, but she was a Magical Girl so she had a pass. "Not sure what I should say here, a bunch of shit could work here, but uhhh... I guess 'See you later' could work... Right?" She looked to me at that, which brought both Mami and Homura's attention to me too.
I blinked at them, and hummed. "We could visit, if not as a group/pack/family, then I could just make doors for wither of you whenever you want." Which was true. With Doormaker's power, and my ability to change how long time between worlds was, I could easily drop them off for a bit, and let them chill until they wanted to come back.
The girls nodded at that, and finally took steps away from Homura, and came towards me. I watched as they did, and nodded as they looked at the door, where the rest of the pack, minus the goddesses and Meathead Duo. They'd gone to open the gates and our home door, while the rest of them were on the lawn, waiting for us. The newest members of our family shared a look, then both stepped through the door.
That left me, Homura, and Hope on this side. I hummed as I looked at the time traveler, and had a thought. (Should I give her a goodbye gift?) I very easily COULD, but wasn't sure if I wanted to. Not cause I didn't like her or anything like that, I was just lazy as hell.
A ping in the back of my mind made me look up to my sister, and notice the thoughtful look on her face. Said look only lasted a moment though, which was probably a sign that she used her giga brain and some super computer level processing power to come up with an answer. ~Foolish brother,a super computer is hardly a fair comparison to me, I'm obviously superior.~ I rolled my eyes at that, and she sent me one back. After that, she started her descent, with more drama then was necessary because she was a special ch...- ~Excuse me?~ Ignoring that, as well as the look she was giving me, I started whistling like an innocent man, which I was. I got another eye roll from her, but it was whatever.
By the time she made it down, she decided to land on top of me, like I was a seat or something, and gave me a triumphant smirk. I was pretty sure she knew she was giving the Magical Girl a pretty scandalous view, but she didn't care, and was seemingly more focused on trying to pressure me with her thighs. I just blinked at her, and asked the question. "Why are you like this?" Her lips twitched, but she didn't answer... Outside of giving me a look that just radiated 'this is your fault' energy... Sighing, I looked back at the last person on the crane, and did my best to ignore the smirk on Homura's face. "Anywaaay, this idiot," Said idiot squeezed her thighs against my head, but I ignored it. "Is going to give you something, have fun with it." Homura furrowed her brows, blinked, and looked like she was going to say something...
Until I felt my sister flare her aura, and mana, making a pure white light shine above Homura's head. She looked up to see what it was... And as I joined in to look at it, I took a second to blink, look up to my sister, and see her insufferably smug smile. (You know that we're going to exploit the fuck out of this... Right?)
She rolled her eyes at that. ~Obviously. I can handle it though.~ And that was that.
Now, you may wonder just what it was that my not so little sister had just done... Well... She made a Mew... Granted, it was smol and wasn't fully matured... But it was still a Mew, just white. The Mythical gently fell towards the black haired Magical Girl, and eventually landed on top of her head... Which was an adorable sight really, though Homura quickly took it off her head, while I couldn't help myself and said the first thing that popped up into my mind. "Funny how we got rid of one demon cat thing, and now there's another one."
My sister bonked me for that, and I gave her a raised brow. She was pouting at me for some re...- ~She's not a 'demon' you goof! She's a precious and adorable child.~ I blinked at that, and decided to just not even start, because just no. That got a smirk out of her, and I decided to get back at her later.
Looking back to Homura and the baby Mew, the former was holding the little one in front of her, and just STARING. The baby cat looked back, waved her tail a bit, and tilted 'her' head in a way similar to Eri. "Mew?"
Homura blinked, looked over to us, then back to the Mew. Narrowing her eyes a bit in thought, she hummed, and cautiously brought it close to her. The Mythical seemed to get excited at that, and the moment she was close, she rubbed her head against Homura's cheek, making the girl pause for a moment, before deciding to let it happen. It was adorable, and I could feel the smug satisfaction radiating from my sister.
We watched for a bit, then when Homura remembered we were there, she looked at us, and gave us a small smile. "Thank you. For everything I mean." Hope and I nodded, and turned towards the door, which I had to enlarge since a certain sister decided to be a massive child.
I took a step forward, ignoring the huff and increased pressure on my neck, having a fuckton of END was good, and walked through the door, leaving the Magical Girl and her new Magical Girl Mascot... I blinked, and realized that that must've been the reason she made a Mew... Given the fact she sent a giggle through my mind, I knew I was right...
Huh... She made a Mythical just to be a mascot... Huh... Oh well.
[Omake - Now what do I do? Homura's POV]
After taking a few moments to recognize that yes, they were all truly gone, I took a hand off the just born Pokemon, and pinched myself... Hard. Hissing at the pain, I sat on the crane, and let the child curl up in my lap as I did. So much had changed, so much in this short span of time, that I still found it difficult to reconcile that this was real. I was free, after who knows how many months/years, I was truly free... And I had no clue where to go from here.
A low purr made me look down at the child in my lap, and it took all my self control not to sigh. The white Mew in my lap was also a thing now, and that was just crazy. I hadn't even noticed I'd been petting her, her skin was oddly smooth and I could feel VERY short hairs on her body, so apparently she would grow fur later on as she grew... Not something I'd expected, but ok.
I pet her for a bit, and kept thinking... Well, that WAS what I was doing... Until a white slip of paper floated down towards me, and I plucked it out of the air, and read it. ~Btw, I awakened Madoka's aura. Have fun teaching your girlfriend about her new superpowers.~ The moment I finished reading, the slip disintegrated, leaving stunned...
Then ANNOYED. (That goddamn angel!) Well, now I knew what I was doing today.
