A staggering amount of Congo's resources were being siphoned by America and NATO allies, which has helped the president maintain power for decades now. 

To protect himself and his family, the president spends millions of dollars every week. Arming his soldiers and slave masters cost money, and running a country cost money.

The last thing he wanted to hear was anything regarding money.

"For keeping you in power, my country gets a share of the national cake… My duty is to keep you in power, protection is an extra service that attracts extra compensation. Don't tell me you expect me to put the lives of my men in danger without begging anything out of it?" Lucius asked in a dry tone.
