When Nico suggested he knew a faster way to get to Maine, the last thing I thought he’d mean would be taking a fucking helicopter.

Surprisingly, Nico had never mentioned owning his own…well, anything like the copter. But when we pulled up to the airport, I was utterly baffled.

“We’re at an airport?” Kaitlyn was seemingly reading my mind in the back seat. “This one doesn’t accept passengers, Nico.”

“No, it’s private,” he’d said, unbuckling his seatbelt. “Private planes, jets, cargo, the lot of them.”

“Are we taking a cargo plane to Maine?” I couldn’t help asking.

Even though it was not the time for laughing, Nico barked out just one good laugh. “Sorry, mate. No cargo plane today.”

I was going to question him, but suddenly, the gate we were parked in front of began to open. I hadn’t expected it, and Nico drove on through.
