章節 4: Allergies

🚧abuse🚧

Nao POV:

Another cry breaks me from my light nap. What is it now?!? Following the noise leads me right back to my Little Tenko. Once again I'm greeted by him bawling his eyes out for an unknown reason. Finally sucking up my fears due to his pain I hunted down my husband in his office.

Lightly knocking on the door to announce my arrival, I open the door. Before he can even question my reasoning for disturbing his work I speak. "We need to take him to the doctor. We can't just keep pushing this off. It isn't fair to him." waiting anxiously for his answer causes me to lightly bounce My Joy to sooth his cries.

With a sigh of defeat Kotaro points to his briefcase. "Wallet's in there. Don't take long." After his immediate dismissal I take the opportunity while it's available.

In record time I have the wallet, baby, and bags in the car. Buckling Tenko into his carseat proves to be difficult due to his squirming. Every time the harness touches his skin he starts moving away from it and screaming in my face.

Biting down the frustration, I hold him in place and buckle it before he can move. In an act of comforting, I go to kiss his forehead before he moves away. Huh? He never turns down a kiss? He must be really sick.

Having the new worries in my mind, I quickly start the car and begin the drive to the clinic. Around 15 minutes later we pulled into the parking lot. Even unbuckling Ten is hard because he keeps moving around when I'm taking the harness off him.

Finally managing to get him out of the carseat and into my arms, I handed him a pacifier to silence his cries to not disturb the other patients. Thankfully he takes it without a second thought. With my, now quiet child, in my arms I make my way into the waiting room.

When I got inside, a handsome young man waves us up to the front desk. "Do you have an appointment already?" he asks while grabbing the paperwork needed and securing it onto a clipboard.

Shifting Tenko to my other hip, I take the pen and board. "No, sir. I didn't have time to make one."

"That's alright. They're pretty open for right now, so I should be able to squeeze you in! What's the name?" He looks between the two of us.

Pointing at my son, I fill in his silent question. "Tenko Shimura."

Beginning to type, he asks more questions. "Reason for visit? Any current known illnesses?"

"He won't stop crying, and it's the kind where you just know something's not right. As far as I know he's not sick."

"Age?"

"Seven months.'

"Are you his mother?"

"Yes."

With a rather loud final tap on his keyboard, he claps his hands while looking back at us. "Coolio! We should be able to get the little guy in, in about 20 or-so minutes." pointing over to the left side of the waiting room he continues. "Please take a seat over there. They'll call your name once they're ready."

Nodding my head in thanks, I make my way over to an empty seat. The second we sit down, something must've touched him because he starts tearing up instantly. "Shhh... please be quiet. We're in a place you need to be quiet." I plead desperately. As if he can sense that he stays quiet, sniffling occasionally.

True to the receptionist's words, someone calls out for us. "Shimura? Right this way, please." as we walk she asks small talk questions before we arrive at her room. "In here." Following her instructions, I walked in and took a seat. "What seems to be the issue?"

As I'm telling her about his symptoms she's listening attentively to each word. Once I get to the end she gives me her idea of what might be going on. "It sounds like the poor thing might just have allergies. Judging by your description, they might be a little more severe than average. But that's no issue."

Standing up, she opens the door before waving me to follow. "Let's go get that blood checked." walking for a moment ends with us in another cramped room. "Have a seat there, and hold him still for me, please."

Doing what she instructs, I hold his arm as she shows me. The screech Tenko makes when she touches him will have given me ear damage, I'm sure. "I know, I know. Needles are scary. We're just tryna figure out what's going on with you." She speaks calmly towards my baby in an attempt to sooth him.

Once she manages to get everything over with, she brings us back to the original room. Stealing a glance at the clock on her wall, I see we've been gone for two hours already, a sense of dread fills my heart. It's been too long! We're not even done! I still don't know what's wrong!

"Everything ok, ma'am?" the doctor breaks me out of my thoughts with a worried look.

Snapping my head in her direction, I think of a quick excuse "Hmm? Oh, yes. I just have somewhere to be today, and am debating cancelling it depending on when we get out of here. It's not a super big deal if this takes a while, so please don't rush anything."

"Ah, I see. Don't worry, I won't." She stands once again and opens the door before looking back at me. "His results should be done here in a minute, I'll be right back!"

Around 10 anxiety filled minutes later, a gentle knock is heard before the door opens. "Just as we thought. He has allergies. Here's a list of the things he needs to avoid as much as possible, and a prescription to help him out."

Getting the rest of the instructions printed out, I managed to end the appointment right after that. Waving goodbye to the lady, and the receptionist a few seconds later, we make our way back to the car.

By now, Tenko is exhausted, and just letting out tiny disagreeing whines whenever something touches him.

We managed to get to the pharmacy not long after leaving. Luckily it has a drive-thru. After getting his medication, we start the drive home. Once we're in the driveway, I take a minute to gather my bearings before grabbing everything.

Opening the door reveals Kotaro sitting on the couch facing us, with his legs crossed. Uh oh... signaling for me to hurry up and put our baby in his room, he sighs impatiently.

Taking the cue to do just that, I briskly make my way down the hall to the nursery. Tucking in My Prince, I give him a forehead kiss while he naps. He should be out for a little bit...

After a really deep breath, I quietly walked back into the living room to face my husband. Seeing he's already standing, I make my way over to infront of him. The second I lift my head, he slaps me hard enough to knock me over.

Standing over me, he starts yelling. "I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO BE QUICK! HOW CAN YOU BE SO BAD AT FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS AS SIMPLE AS THAT?? SINCE WHEN ARE YOU USELESS?"

Quietly whimpering while holding my cheek, I try to plead "Please be quieter...he just fell asleep. He's had a long day."

"I don't give a shit about him 'having a long day'! He's not even a year old! He doesn't know what the fuck is going on." he mocks me from where he's standing. "What the Hell was he bitching about, anyway?"

Looking down at the floor, I answer him as nicely as possible. "He has severe allergies...we have to get him almost new everything..."

"The brat is just allergic to something?!?" rage fills his eyes, "He's been causing me to lose sleep over allergies?" By now, he looks like he's about ready to go down the hall and hurt our baby. He'd never do that...right..?
