After hanging up, Xiu Mei narrowed her eyes, knowing a major headache was about to invade her serene villa. With time running out, she needed to start working on security ASAP, but her stomach rumbled, reminding her she needed energy for the task ahead.

"Miss, do you need any help?" Aunt Mary asked as Xiu Mei headed downstairs.

"Uh… yes! Prepare a full Western breakfast for me, rich in protein and healthy," Xiu Mei decided. Cooking was not her strong suit, so it was best to let Mary handle it.

"Sure! How about broccoli quiche, scrambled eggs, and almond granola with fresh fruits?" Aunt Mary suggested.

"Sounds good!" Xiu Mei replied before heading to the terrace.

On the terrace, she surveyed the property, noting necessary changes to enhance security. Her villa stood tall on a mountain, surrounded by dense forest. The only access was by air or the single, winding driveway. Anyone trying to enter without permission would either be crushed by rolling stones or meet a worse fate among the wild animals.

The driveway was lined with traps, making it impossible for intruders to enter unnoticed. She had tested the high-frequency laser sensors surrounding the property with drones—five were destroyed within 400 meters, while one barely made it to 150 meters before being obliterated. She noted the loophole to fix later.

An hour later, she returned inside as breakfast was ready. She settled at the table, serving herself.

"Uncle Tom, please clean the room next to mine and change the bedsheets," Xiu Mei ordered, not explaining further, as she focused on her meal.

After breakfast, she stood to leave but paused. "I won't be eating lunch or dinner, so don't disturb me. Message me only if it's urgent." With that, she headed to the lab.

"Yes, ma—" Butler Tom started, but she was already gone. He and Aunt Mary exchanged knowing glances and resumed their tasks.

Back to the present:

Xiu Mei served tea to her guests.

"What brings you here, Mr. Feng? I thought we discussed everything on the phone three days ago," she said, cutting to the chase.

Feng Junjie frowned at his father. Three days ago? What did they discuss?

But he stayed quiet, trying to decipher the conversation.

"I wanted to confirm everything was fine in person," Feng Dingxiong said, taking a sip of his tea. He gestured to Junjie. "My son will check on his brother, so I wanted to introduce you both."

"Does this mean you don't trust me?" Xiu Mei raised an eyebrow.

"Trust? Someone close to my son harmed him, and we don't know the attacker's identity. We need time to capture him. It's about precaution, not trust," Feng Dingxiong replied, maintaining his composure.

Still hiding? Need time to capture him? Junjie thought, confused. Haven't we already dealt with the attackers? Why is Dad twisting the facts?

"Oh! They're talking about the brother," he realized. I can't take this lightly. Why this villa, and why her? He narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Xiu Mei.

Feeling his gaze, Xiu Mei met his judgmental stare, raising an eyebrow in question.

Ding!

Suddenly, realization struck Junjie. She's the girl from that photograph! He quickly averted his gaze, shooting a sharp look at his father.

Dad's playing a game here. Time to play along, he thought mischievously.

"Wait! Are you talking about my brother? Are we bringing him here?" Junjie finally asked.

"Yes, he will stay here for recuperation," Feng Dingxiong replied, knowing his son's protective nature.

Junjie was shocked. How can a father leave his injured son at a stranger's place?

"But Dad, we've arranged the best facility for him. He's recovering quickly. Why bother bringing him here?" he feigned disappointment.

"Because this place is the safest," Feng Dingxiong snapped, clenching his fists.

Seriously? Junjie scoffed. Feng Corporation runs the top security agency worldwide. And you're worried about safety?

"This place is perfect for rehabilitation! It's beautiful and calm. Your brother will recover faster among the mountains. The oxygen is fresh here!" Feng Dingxiong insisted.

Really, Dad? That's your excuse? Junjie shook his head, feeling let down.

Assistant Jun and Xiu Mei exchanged bewildered glances, both speechless at the absurdity of it all.
