Rick woke up the next day feeling awful. No matter how many times he tortured or executed someone it was still hard for him. When he worked for Aegis, they had taken these kinds of contracts. It was dirty work, but the payoff was many times more. He had a light breakfast and got ready for the day.
The plan for today was to reinforce the areas they had already captured. Rick learned from Eli how close the other group was. The only reason they hadn't been discovered, was due too the raiders beleiving the downtown area was completely over ran. They thought no one would be able to take it back without massive losses. They never thought anyone would use heavy equipment to just smash the walkers down.
Rick had spent some of the group out to set up charging docks and repeater antennas. This way the drones could cover a much larger distance, and operate smoother in the city. The higher buildings sometimes interfered with the coverage.
Then they had the engineers and construction teams reinforce all the walls with iron and steel. They had to use any materials they could find, luckily there was several scrap yards in the area. He also had them build a large caged in area outside the part of the city that he had taken back. Rick then had Hermes use the drones to round up as many walkers as he could and drive them into the massive cage. He had plans for them later.
Rick knew he would also start having some of the survivors with lesser skills start helping defend the area. While the numbers of each group were not that far apart. He had alot less people who could actually fight. He would have to rely on his superior equipment, and tactics. He was heading back to the compound to come up with a plan to begin training everyone.
Rick brought Sasha, Xiang Fe, Glenn, and Shane back with him. He left Merle, Daryl, and Jesus in charge. Merle had really stepped up recently. Rick knew the way to get him to listen was to reel him in slowly. The first thing was getting Daryls trust. Then Rick got him out of prison. Rick also let's Merle keep a few women for himself, and Rick does not give Merle to much grief for getting high or drunk. He told Merle that as long as he can do what's required of him have fun. He also had Daryl there to keep an eye on him if things started going to far.
Back at the compound Rick dropped everyone off and told them to meet him in the conference room in two hours. He kept Sasha with him and brought her along to his room. She had a good idea what was about to happen. Rick and Maggie had been communicating through the nano-link, and she said to bring her. She was also aware how Sasha had helped save Rick's life.
