章節 7: ch. 5The Journey Home pt. 2. Glendale/Rose Park

I met god the other day. I asked him; so how long you been god for? He said kid, you ask too many questions! Anyway, he kept wanting me to come hang around at the temple with him, but I was waiting for a ride. He seemed like kind of a lonely old guy so I hung around with him for a bit, we sat there and talked and then he gave me a hug, then my phone rang and I got on the light rail to the airport, caught my flight to Brazil, where my wife and newborn son were waiting for me to return. I'd been on a business trip to the mormon state of mind control, Utah, and so that was an entirely different kind of jet lag to contend with. Yeah, but, anyway it was really not all that bad as far as mormons went but, every now and then, you found a bunch who were real official nutty bar zealot types who, if you questioned even the existence of ANOTHER church, theyd get all platter eyed and goose pimply, then break out in a fit of rages about "how you were insulting the very fabric of their family values" or some other crap you weren't even referring to but, the vast majority of them were much less insane to talk to and decent enough to accept that there were other realities on board their current earth and atmosphere. Woah man, sorry about the vagary there, what I meant was, most were decent enough to accept the realities of other people and their perceptions and environments, I mean, who gives a shit about the earth and atmosphere anyways?! As long as we can continue to get rich on an ultimate destruction that's so far in the future our seven times great great grandchildren will never see it! So who gives a FUCK, either. Jesus I might as well call this book five hundred pages of absolutely nothing! With all these vagaries and side notes! And then, flash forward, to an earth which is almost completely unlivable, from which, only the mega rich fuckwagoneers who caused it, could escape. Ironic ironic, isn't it! And, eventually it'll be redundant redundant because, they got SO mega rich, from destroying OUR planet that, they could afford to build new rockets, to travel from our moons outposts and space stations, (that we, the poor fucks built) to the next nearest star system and yes, One prerequisite to getting offplanet, was that you had to own at least one fortune five thousand corporation. Preferably computer, construction or combat, but, entertainment industries were not necessarily frowned on as a base of incorporation for these new immigrants to whatever place we were bound for. Luckily, I myself had invested in cryogenic human preservation, and was actually on board one of these massive starships. Back in the twentieth century we'd just gotten our first billionaire president. He was near the end of his term but, all he did was start shit with every other country in the world, nuke several of them back into the third and fourth world wars, all for the love of money, and with the cover story of job creation, wars in the twentieth century were just accepted as necessary parts, of an evil world or, the lesser of the two evils of, blah, blah, such, and such. Anyhow, the major corporations started taking notice of how this particular president did things and began making secret alliances to counterpoint and counteract, his every blunder; if he invested too heavily in an arms corporation, the big heads would powwow and lobby to create new laws to protect the environments these conflicts would destroy, if he bombed the wrong country, our media would do its job and entertain, but, the alliances were the key to us getting off planet when the resources finally ran out. And when they did, imagine this, you remember how bad the watts riots of the seventies were? Well that was just one small subdivision of Los Angeles, these riots actually went GLOBAL! they crossed every border imaginable, social, territorial, physical, nothing wasn't considered a resource! well, actually it was but, self time was a luxury only afforded by those of us off planet. Wed developed a network of orbital data core backup satellites designed for space travel, which would accompany us on our long journey, "home". The original version one satellite cores would remain at earth, as some semblance of order, to those left behind, and theyd eventually regrouped and reformed their own new economies and democracies, but the resource wars knocked the average mentality back over a thousand years, reverting most back into neanderthal infant rather than homosapien adolescent, they all went back to the six pack carrying of women and beer, the illusions of supremacy carried on in thos who made it off planet but those of us who got on the ships were greatly humbled by both the size of the ships and the reason they were there, not to mention these ships would be our home for the next twenty years of hyperspace, only two of those years were allotted for hyper sleep, another two for normal sleep. We got really hip really fast culturally though, because of the diversity (life) that our nature had thrust upon us. We all had to come to terms with the different comfort zones, of all the different cultures, all crammed into those tiny little gargantuan spaceships. Each of us was made aware of all the exits, all the medical options, alot of educational programs and recreational, options, political and civic activities to engage in and, despite the previous political differences, the craft of botany, became a necessary requirement for any advance in any other program during the long flight. Our leaders, after years of economical debate and constant disagreements, finally all became aware, at the same time, while at the NATO, UN, NAFTA summit of 2260, that the numbers of science and nature, aren't in sync, with the numbers of business and finance, and that, the destruction of and ignorance to, science and nature, is exactly why we had to abandon the planet, which was still inhabited by over two billion souls, who began acting alot more unitedly, but in much, much smaller bands. Yes they moved backward, into the tribal and cultish, the clan mentalities of the early sixteenth through twentieth centuries,
