VECTOR 42

Accelerator and Rin were relaxing at the Tohsaka mansion, enjoying a rare moment of peace with nothing to do. They had forced Archer to do the patrols, letting them lounge around without any responsibilities. What had initially been just Accelerator's idea of a good time had quickly influenced Rin, who now also spent most of her days lazing about.
As they lay on the couches, Rin flipping through a book and Accelerator staring at the ceiling, he suddenly remembered something. "Hey," he said, turning his head toward Rin, "you interested in some research material? Something out of this world, a monster of sorts."
Rin raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "Phantasmal creatures are already vanished in this world, Accelerator. There's no chance you caught one."
Accelerator didn't care about her disbelief. With a shrug, he reached into his inventory and pulled out a Stage 1 Gastrea corpse. The humongous creature dropped onto the floor with a heavy thud, breaking it in the process.
Rin jumped up, shouting, "My floor! Do you have any idea how much it's going to cost to repair that?"
She was about to unleash her fury on Accelerator when her gaze landed on the Gastrea corpse. Her eyes widened in shock, and she stuttered, "Where did you get this?"
"Stop asking questions, woman" Accelerator replied, rolling his eyes. "If you don't want it, I can just take it back."
He reached out to put the Gastrea back in his inventory, but Rin's grinning face suddenly appeared in front of him. "Thank you!" she exclaimed, grabbing the corpse and dragging it out of the room.
Accelerator was left dumbfounded but somewhat pleased that it was quiet again. He settled back onto the couch, enjoying the newfound silence.
Rin dragged the Gastrea into her workshop, muttering to herself about the incredible research opportunities this presented. "This is amazing," she said to no one in particular, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "I can't believe he had this the whole time."
Back in the living room, Accelerator chuckled to himself. "Women," he muttered, shaking his head. He was glad the Gastrea had finally shut her up, at least for a while.
Rin returned a few minutes later, her excitement barely contained. "Do you have any idea what you've given me? This is going to revolutionize my studies!"
"Yeah, yeah," Accelerator said, waving her off. "Just don't blow up the house."
Rin laughed, genuinely thrilled. "I won't. But seriously, Accelerator, where did you get this thing?"
"I told you to stop asking questions," he replied, smirking. "Just enjoy your new toy."
Rin rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress her grin. "Fine, keep your secrets. But thanks, really. This is incredible."
"Whatever," Accelerator said, settling back into his relaxed state. "Just make sure it doesn't come back to life or anything."
Rin chuckled, heading back to her workshop with renewed vigor. "Don't worry. I'll handle it."
As the door to her workshop closed, Accelerator sighed in contentment. It was rare for him to feel so at ease, but moments like these made all the chaos worth it. He glanced at the broken floor and shrugged. "Worth it," he muttered, a small smile playing on his lips.
The rest of the day passed peacefully, with Rin engrossed in her research and Accelerator enjoying the quiet. For once, everything felt almost normal, and he found himself hoping it would last just a little bit longer.
Deciding that it was time to roam around the city, Accelerator hoped to find something interesting. Resting at the mansion was impossible with Rin noisily engrossed in her workshop, making it difficult to achieve any sense of comfort. As he walked the streets, he noticed a commotion near a game center. A middle-aged man, likely drunk given the redness of his face, was shouting loudly at a young girl who, by Accelerator's judgment, was getting visibly more pissed with each second.
The girl finally stopped holding back and punched the man square in the face, knocking him out cold. The onlookers shrieked in a mix of fear and admiration, but Accelerator just sneered at the scene, finding it more annoying than entertaining.
His reaction didn't go unnoticed. The girl, now smirking, walked up to him, raising an eyebrow as she inspected him. After his transformation into a Transcendent, Accelerator's features had become more mature and striking, making him stand out even more. The girl pointed at him and demanded his name.
Accelerator, uninterested, responded with, "Do I have an obligation to tell you that?"
She smirked, clearly intrigued by his attitude. "I like you," she declared. "Name's Ayako Mitsuzuri. Be my boyfriend."
Accelerator raised an eyebrow and stayed silent for a few seconds before smiling. "Fuck no," he said bluntly, trying to walk away.
Ayako grabbed his hand, her smile not faltering. "How about a challenge then? Archery. If you win, I'll give you money. If you lose, you become my boyfriend."
Accelerator stopped to consider the offer. Money wasn't a concern for him; he could get that anytime. But the challenge, and Ayako's boldness, intrigued him. "Alright, let's see what you've got," he said, smirking.
Ayako led him to a nearby archery range, her steps confident and purposeful. The two set up, and Ayako quickly demonstrated her skill, hitting the bullseye repeatedly. It was clear she wasn't just talking, she knew what she was doing.
Accelerator watched, unimpressed but interested. When it was his turn, he picked up the bow and nocked an arrow, focusing his breathing as he had learned in the previous world. His first shot was a perfect bullseye, surprising the onlookers and Ayako herself.
She smirked, clearly not expecting him to be this good. "Not bad for a beginner," she commented, readying her bow for another round. "But can you keep it up?"
Accelerator gave a nonchalant shrug, "I've faced worse," he said, his tone dripping with casual arrogance.
The contest continued, with both hitting bullseye after bullseye. The crowd that gathered watched in awe as the two competitors showed off their skills. Finally, after a particularly intense round, Ayako missed by a fraction, and Accelerator hit yet another bullseye, securing his victory.
Ayako sighed, clearly disappointed but also impressed. "Looks like you won," she admitted, handing him the promised money. "But you know, I still like you."
Accelerator pocketed the money with a smirk. "Your persistence is almost admirable. Almost," he said, turning to leave.
Ayako, undeterred, called after him, "I'll be around. Don't think you're off the hook just yet."
Accelerator waved a dismissive hand, not bothering to look back. "Whatever. Just don't expect me to go easy next time."
As he walked away, he couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. Ayako Mitsuzuri was persistent, he'd give her that. But for now, he had other things to worry about.

The next morning, Rin dragged Accelerator out of bed with a determined gleam in her eyes. This time, though, she had the gall to make him wear the Homurahara Academy uniform. Accelerator had no idea how she got it, but she just brushed off his questions, saying, "Don't worry about it." Now they were in the Academy, and Accelerator sighed deeply when he spotted Shirou Emiya entering the building. Just his luck.
Thankfully, Rin didn't seem to notice Shirou and instead dragged Accelerator around the campus. They reached the front gate, and Rin was stopped by a girl who greeted her warmly. It was Ayako Mitsuzuri, and she didn't seem to notice Accelerator, who was wandering his head around, observing the surroundings.
"Hey, Tohsaka. Still looking good today," Ayako said, her tone friendly yet teasing. "You sure you're not sneaking in beauty treatments?"
Rin rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. Don't get ahead of yourself, Ayako. You might have a hard time keeping up."
The two girls shared a laugh, engaging in their friendly bickering. Ayako then finally noticed Accelerator standing nearby, his expression bored yet curious.
"Wait a minute," Ayako said, her eyes lighting up with recognition. "Isn't this the guy who rejected me yesterday?" She smiled widely, clearly amused. "Rin, is he your boyfriend?"
Rin's face turned a shade of red that matched her hair ribbon. "W-What? No, he's not!" she stammered, embarrassed.
Ayako smirked, taking full advantage of Rin's flustered state. "Great, since you don't want him, he can be my boyfriend instead," she declared, latching onto Accelerator's arm.
The surrounding girls, who had been observing the exchange, suddenly had predatory gazes fixed on Accelerator. It seemed he was quite the catch in their eyes.
Rin, for reasons she couldn't fully understand, felt a surge of irritation. Seeing Ayako so close to Accelerator, she marched over and separated them, pushing Ayako away. "Get away from him," she demanded.
Ayako placed her hand on her cheek, feigning innocence. "Why, Rin? He's not your boyfriend, so what's the problem?"
Rin struggled to find an answer but insisted nonetheless. "Just...stay away from him."
Ayako's smirk widened. "My, my, aren't you being possessive?" she teased.
Accelerator, understanding the situation, decided to play along. He grinned and patted Rin's head roughly, ruffling her hair. "You're pretty cute when you're all worked up, you know that?"
Rin's face turned an even deeper shade of red, and she swatted his hand away. "Shut up, you idiot!"
Ayako laughed at the scene, clearly enjoying the dynamic between the two. "Well, looks like you've got your hands full, Accelerator."
"Tell me about it," he muttered, still grinning.
Rin crossed her arms, trying to regain her composure. "Why are you even here, Ayako?"
Ayako shrugged nonchalantly. "I go to this school, remember? And I was just saying hi to my new boyfriend."
Rin glared at her. "He's not your boyfriend, and he's definitely not mine either."
Ayako chuckled, leaning closer to Accelerator. "We'll see about that."
Accelerator, caught in the middle, couldn't help but find the situation amusing. He decided to see how far he could push Rin's buttons. "You know, Ayako, you do have a certain charm."
Rin's eyes widened in disbelief, and she quickly stepped between them. "Stop it, both of you!"
Ayako looked at Rin with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Jealous, much?"
Rin sputtered, trying to come up with a retort. "I'm not jealous! I just don't want you two making a scene."
Accelerator chuckled, enjoying Rin's flustered state. "Alright, alright. Let's just calm down. No need to get all riled up."
Rin huffed, crossing her arms again. "Fine. But you," she pointed at Ayako, "stay away from him."
Ayako saluted mockingly. "Yes, ma'am!"
As they walked away, Accelerator couldn't help but tease Rin a little more. "You know, if you keep acting like this, people might start to think you really do like me."
Rin shot him a glare that could freeze a volcano. "Don't push your luck."
Accelerator just grinned, hands in his pockets. "Whatever you say, Rin."
The morning continued with Rin and Ayako exchanging playful jabs, and Accelerator caught in the middle, silently enjoying the chaos. Despite the banter and teasing, there was an underlying camaraderie that made the entire experience somewhat enjoyable.
They continued roaming around the school, with Rin growing increasingly frustrated. It seemed there were gutsy girls who disregarded her presence and approached Accelerator, introducing themselves with shy smiles and batting eyelashes. Thankfully, the man didn't seem interested in anyone besides Ayako, so Rin was somewhat relieved.
"Why do they keep coming up to you?" Rin muttered, glaring at another girl who had just walked away after a failed attempt to catch Accelerator's attention.
"Beats me," Accelerator replied with a shrug. "Maybe it's the uniform. Or maybe they just have terrible taste."
Rin shot him a sharp look. "I don't get what they see in you. You're not that special."
"Thanks, Tohsakaaa. Your compliments always make my day," he responded dryly.
Their banter continued until Accelerator spotted Emiya Shirou again. This time, Rin also noticed him, and they greeted him. Accelerator, however, just kept quiet.
Rin's demeanor shifted when she noticed the person beside Shirou. It was Sakura Matou. Rin tried to act normal, but Accelerator could tell she was on edge. He observed the girl with cold eyes, which frightened her and earned him an elbow from Rin.
"Stop glaring at her like that," Rin hissed.
Accelerator clicked his tongue but continued observing Sakura. To say what he saw was disgusting would be an understatement. It was more like horrible. He glanced at Rin, wondering if he should inform her, but decided to judge later. Instead, he stepped forward and reached out his hand.
"Name's Accelerator," he introduced himself, waiting for Sakura to take his hand.
Sakura flinched and hesitated for a second before timidly introducing herself. As their hands touched, Accelerator grimaced, immediately sensing the worm dug into her heart. A cruel collar, if he must say.
He shook his head before gazing at her with pity. "I'm surprised. You managed to endure this long," he said, his voice low.
Sakura looked confused and a bit scared, but before she could respond, Accelerator returned to Rin's side, just observing their interaction.
Rin, Sakura, and Shirou were chatting casually when an irksome presence decided to barge in and assert his dominance with some cheesy words.
"Well, well, if it isn't my lovely sister and her pathetic friends," Shinji Matou sneered, striding over with an air of arrogance.
Rin's eyes narrowed at Shinji. "What do you want, Shinji?"
Shinji smirked, ignoring Rin's question. "I see you've got yourself some new company. A fragile guy with white hair and a bad attitude. Quite the downgrade, isn't it, Rin?"
Accelerator's eyebrow twitched. "And who's this clown?" he asked, turning to Rin.
Rin sighed, rubbing her temples. "That's Shinji Matou. Sakura's brother."
"Brother, huh? Explains the idiocy," Accelerator muttered loud enough for Shinji to hear.
Shinji's face turned red with anger. "What did you say?"
Accelerator stepped closer, his eyes cold. "I said, it explains the idiocy."
Before Shinji could retort, Rin intervened, stepping between them. "Enough, both of you. Shinji, if you have nothing important to say, leave."
Shinji scoffed. "Fine, I have better things to do than waste my time with you losers. Just remember, Rin, you're only a second-rate mage. Don't get too full of yourself."
With that, Shinji turned and walked away, leaving the group in an awkward silence.
"That guy is a piece of work," Accelerator muttered.
Rin nodded, her expression serious. "He's more trouble than he's worth."
Shirou, trying to lighten the mood, smiled at Rin. "Don't let him get to you, Rin. He's just trying to provoke you."
Rin sighed but nodded. "I know. It's just...he knows how to push my buttons."
Accelerator glanced at Sakura, who seemed relieved that Shinji was gone. He couldn't help but feel a pang of pity for her. Living with someone like that must be a nightmare.
"Anyway," Rin said, trying to change the subject. "We should get going. We've got a lot to do."
"Yeah, let's go," Accelerator agreed, giving Sakura a final glance before they started walking away.
As they left, Accelerator couldn't shake the feeling that things were about to get even more complicated.

Accelerator has actually matured you know?
