Rilian's eyes slowly rose to meet mine, and I watched a kaleidoscope of emotion wash across his face, from curiosity to concern, straight to horror.

"You're hurt…." Rilian whispered, and he took a step towards me.

"GET BACK!" I cried, slamming back into the elevator doors.

It was too late, the movement was enough to trigger momentum in my body, and I lunged toward Rilian with my claws extended, lashing out at him. Rilian backed up, his eyes growing wide as he dodged my attack.

"WHOA!" he exclaimed, spinning around behind me, "Aspen, what the hell?!"

"Rilian!" I cried, turning towards him again. "Stay away from me!!"

I turned around and moved forward, finally shifting into my wolf form. There would be no words now, just a growl and a snarl of something beast-like. I turned to bare my teeth at him, and I watched Rilian stumble back in fear.

I sauntered towards him, hunched down as he crawled back across the floor.
