章節 15: Chapter 15: Kuru Municipal Corporation

[Want to upgrade sacrifice method]

[Whether]

A thought swirled in Mohan's mind, "Does that mean it can sacrifice vapor-state crystals directly or...?" He shook his head, dispelling the thought. "Why am I even thinking about this?"

Glancing at the system prompt, he grinned. "Why not find out directly?" He mentally gave the command: "Yes".

[Confirmed]

[Red crystal wouldn't be directly sacrificed]

[Triggered]

[A pocket space is required for auto-save]

[Processing...]

[A pocket space generated.]

Mohan raised an eyebrow, taking a half glance at the prompt before sighing. "I'm quite short sighted," he muttered, his alert, calm gaze scanning the surroundings as he moved toward the target. A small smile tugged at his lips. "The system is way more advanced than anything we could've calculated."

A pocket space formed, and he watched as the crystal was automatically transferred there. "The system sure is amazing."

Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks, his grip tightening around his weapon. "Everyone, be careful," he warned, continuing cautiously.

"There should be—"

A sudden roar cut through the air. Before Mohan could fully comprehend what was happening, his hands instinctively lifted, and he fired.

*Bang. Bang.*

Two shots echoed as a ghostly figure crumpled before him, the wet ground once again soaking with red.

What was that?

Thank God I wasn't too slow...

His eyes remained fixed on the ghostly figure, its body riddled with bullets. Glancing back at his squadron, he couldn't help but comment, "You guys sure don't know to hold back." He was grateful, though. "Lucky for me, they didn't give the thing a chance."

Recomposing himself, Mohan approached the fallen creature. Pulling out a small, round machine, he carefully placed it inside the ghostly figure. "Don't touch this thing," he warned.

"Yes, sir," his squadron responded.

Mohan continued to study the ghostly creature.

This early? It shouldn't be…

A mutated version of a fox, no wonder the gover...

Muttering under his breath, "So that's why they gave every leader a tracker." Rising to his feet, he cursed, "I was such a fool." Looking at his squadron, he announced, "We're now within the mission's perimeter."

Ding. Ding.

The synchronized footsteps of the army echoed in the gloomy habitat, marking their approach.

.....

Five hundred meters from the ongoing operation, nestled within the mountainous terrain, a well-supported camp stood firm.

A voice crackled through the radio, and a soldier, adorned with five stars on his shoulder strap, took hold of it.

"Mission accomplished."

"We've found the spot."

"I repeat, we've found the spot."

5 star--soldier gave the order, "Place a tracker on the ground."

"Order confirmed," came the reply.

A moment later.

"Order accomplished. Tracker number is 25."

The five-star officer glanced at three soldiers seated before monitors, their shoulders bare of insignia. He pointed to one and commanded, "Show me the live feed of tracker number 25."

"Yes, sir," the soldier responded, quickly pulling up a live video on the screen. The image of Mohan and his squadron filled the monitor.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of the officer's lips. As he stepped out of the camp, he pulled out his walkie-talkie and said, "Sir, the spot has been found."

"Good work," a voice replied from the other end. "Now, establish a secure camp and reinforce it with durable materials."

"Order received," the officer confirmed.

"Ensure everything is complete before we arrive."

"Understood, sir." The five-star officer lowered the walkie-talkie back into his uniform, his expression calm yet focused.

...

[Sam's Pov]

A car roared down the highway at full speed. In the front passenger seat, a young boy held a document, while a lady sat in the back, focused intently on her laptop.

"Finally, it's done," the boy said, placing the document on the car's dashboard. He turned to her, "How was that?"

Closing her laptop with a composed expression, the lady responded, "Great, sir. I didn't expect it, but that was surprisingly helpful."

Nodding, Sam replied, "Didn't I tell you? It might feel a bit depressing, but once you modify the game data, it can serve multiple purposes."

The lady rested her cheek on her palm and agreed, "Hmm, it certainly has its uses." Then, suddenly glaring at Sam, she cursed under her breath. "But sir, you have no idea what I went through." She began to narrate her story.

"When I first announced we needed to modify the game data, they didn't even let me finish! They started questioning me: 'Are you messing with us?' 'Are you mad?' Everyone had something to say."

Amused, Sam chuckled. "How did you convince them?"

Smirking, the lady replied, "The same way you convinced me. I simply sent them a photocopy of the document and told them to read it. After that, they could decide whether to agree or disagree."

Sam smiled faintly.

The lady soon asked with curiosity, "But sir, where are we going?"

"On a date," Sam answered, with a mischievous grin.

The lady choked on air, coughing in surprise.

Laughter filled the car as Sam patted the driver's shoulder. "Bro, do you always have to be this serious?"

"I'm driving," the driver responded flatly.

Sam choked, trying not to laugh.

The lady, covering her mouth with her hand, giggled. "Boss, even your jokes can't make the driver smile."

Grabbing his chest dramatically, Sam looked at the driver and smiled bitterly. "See? She's mocking me because of you!"

The driver offered an apologetic response, "Sorry, sir, but we have to stay focused while driving."

Feeling helpless, Sam sighed, admitting defeat. "Alright, alright." Regaining his composure, he informed the lady, "We're heading to the municipal corporation building for a deal."

"What? Sir, you didn't even inform your secretary!" The lady looked astonished.

"This is a confidential deal," Sam explained calmly.

The lady nodded thoughtfully but squinted at him. "Then why am I here?"

"Because you're my secretary," Sam replied simply, with a hint of dry humor.

"Sir, we've arrived," the driver's calm voice interrupted.

*creak*

Stepping out of the car, Sam's eyes were drawn to the large, dome-like structure of the municipal corporation building. Simple, bold letters were engraved at the entrance: "Kuru Municipal Corporation."
