章節 41: Project Daffodil

"Eungoo?"

Yejun called out a familiar person that was crying on top of the stairs. He just got out from the restroom to take a breather from the amount of stress that he was picking up the moment when Kim Kangdae entered the room. There were plenty of reporters not only crowding him but his guest as well that he had to step out for a moment.

"Eungoo?" He called out one more time before crouching down low and sat beside him. It was true that he has been giving his pet some space to decide but not avoid him like how he did when he was handling the tech situation.

And what caught Park Yejun by surprise was that of how Eungoo had suddenly hugged him and began to cry on his shoulder. His sinister side was smirking that resulted him to hugging him back. He didn't know what had happened but he felt like it was practically a good thing since Eungoo was there with him and was currently finding comfort from him.

"Master?"

"Hmmmm?"

"I'll stay… with you."

Yejun's eyes narrowed and his lips formed an evil smile of triumphant. A miracle has happened! The universe was on his side. He didn't actually think that Min Kwan would somehow fuck it up but he did.

"Really?" He asked, trying his best to mask his happiness by pretending to be surprised. He felt Eungoo hugged him tighter and gave a silent nod.

"Why?" He asked, suddenly felt curious as to why, the other had then decided to stay.

"I just…" Eungoo couldn't find the right words to tell how he was feeling and why he ended up with that decision. He didn't want to make the other think that he was just using him in a way. His words were then stuck at his throat as if they were somehow choking him.

Yejun hummed and pulled out his handkerchief from his breast pocket and began to wipe away his tears.

"Don't answer." He gave him a sad smile and pulled him up. "Come on… I need you back in the party." He said and began pulling him down the stairs and back into the crowd.

Eungoo wasn't actually up for the task but he didn't have much of a choice in this. He didn't want to see or socialize with many people or have to worry about what they thought of him. He had his head down low as he chanted to himself to stop crying as he didn't either want to embarrass himself or Yejun at his own party.

"Stay right here." He smiled and pulled him just beside the platform before walking up towards it. As soon as he got on he grabbed the microphone from the waiter and smiled at his guests.

"Good evening! I see you've all been enjoying yourselves. So how's the food?" Yejun began. A lot of people gave him approving remarks at the exquisite dishes that were served. Some laughed and the others were talking among themselves.

"As we are all gathered here today at my humble abode, you are very much aware as to why. But only a few in this room knows it's reasons. Park Electronics Company will be launching its new tech which is called 'The Daffodil Project'."

Then started the hissing whispers in the back. The people were quite confused as to why Daffodil when the company had always named their projects with something very up to date that leaves quite an impression.

"Yes. The Daffodil flower, a symbol of rebirth and new beginnings. The inspiration of this project was an old friend of mine who had not only lost her sight but lost the ability to walk. And among us right now are the people who had been reborn and made whole once more."

Yejun smiled and showed everyone the list of names and their pictures as well as their disabilities. People then gasped and looked at the people who were not only crying happily but also smiling as everyone had congratulated them. As crowd began to applause, Yejun held his drink up, the one that he just got from behind, and smiled.

"Here is a toast to spreading hope and for the reborned!"

"CHEERS!!!"

Even Eungoo had gasped as he saw a waiter handing him a red wine that had his face flashed at the screen. The waiter smiled and bowed politely and left the stunned man.

Eungoo couldn't even make out the words as his eyes trained back to the scene that showed some details of the waiter that said,

"I'm a waiter from a district and had to serve tables in a wheelchair for 7 years."

He looked back and spotted the same waiter that was happily conversing with his colleague. He was touched by this. Who knew that this whole time, no one knew what was missing from them. It has been a wonderful experience not only for the ones that were 'reborn' as Yejun had said but also to the people who were now congratulating them or who were basically just happy for them. It was beautiful.

"Cat caught your tongue?" Yejun smiled as he put his arm around Eungoo's shoulder and brought him closer, sipping his drink from earlier.

"You made them whole," Eungoo whispered as he slowly drank his red wine, "You made them feel complete even when nobody knew that they weren't before."

"Pretty cool right?" Yejun smiled.

"So… where's the old friend?"

Yejun paused as his heart ached. The image of Yukiyo laughing in the crowd in a very dramatic ball gown that she would have loved to wear seeing that she was very extra. He sadly smiled and sighed.

"Probably somewhere up there throwing a shoe at me somewhere or anything she first sets her eyes on." He chuckled.

Eungoo widened his eyes and began to apologize but earned a laugh instead.

"It's fine. She would have been happy to be with us."

"I think she's very happy somewhere… wherever she may be."

And as they were enjoying each other's company when Kwan had already calmed down, he looked to the side noticed that it has already gotten dark. He sat up straight and noticed that Wonshik had dozed off as well. He then looked around and spotted a window with bright yellow lights glistening through. He noticed the happy crowd that Wonshik belongs to. The crowd that was filled with the richest people and the ones who were well off; he should be with the ones who were born with no worries in the world and not like him who has to worry about his unpaid dues.

"You okay now?"

Wonshik groaned and asked out in his raspy voice. He didn't mean to fall asleep as well; he couldn't help himself; he felt so relaxed.

"Don't you have a party to attend to?"

Wonshik hummed and looked at the direction where Kwan was looking. He tilted his head and smiled at the people they have invited and were happily conversing with the ones who had received their help.

"I actually like it here."

Wonshik smiled and held Kwan's hand without looking at him. His heart felt warm, and his hand had a mind of its own. Thankfully, Kwan didn't pull away.

"I'm so happy." He continued. "Looking back at the many sacrifices we did for this project, makes it all so worth it now."

Kwan furrowed his brows and looked at him quizzically. Sacrifice. Wonshik knew the word and the value behind it. He was silently observing the look on the man's face that was filled with content and joy, something that he wished to feel someday. The feeling of being content where he was and happy at the same time.

He felt like his whole world had just shattered before him when Eungoo disappeared and now that he had just walked out of his life for good made it even harder. He felt so lost now. He didn't know what to do.

As he was busy contemplating of what had just happened, Wonshik pulled him up when the lights in the gazebo was lit. He placed Kwan's arms around his neck and had his hands resting on his hip as they danced to the loud music oozing from the party.

Kwan gulped and looked away as the other was too close for his comfort zone but somehow, he didn't hated it. And as if reading his thoughts, he then said,

"You'll be fine. I promise."

MEANWHILE

A man with golden curtain hair, dressed up in an all-black velvety suit with a thin mesh dress shirt underneath had rang the doorbell once before inviting himself in. He rolled his eyes waved off Yejun's employees as he strutted his way right in.

He smiled as he stood before the huge double doors and pushed it. He was then greeted with Park Yejun's wide eyes and was mimicked by everyone else.

He walked elegantly towards the host and the media was flashing their cameras in his direction. He leaned forward and whispered,

"Hey daddy…. I'm back~~".
