Ren Jidian was so bored with restraining himself to do tiring work and not seeing WE1. He had Ibuki Ren's skill and memories, but not his tenacity and interest in pieces of metal and wires. 

Robotics was just not his thing. 

Technological advancements were cool to him on a surface level, but he was aware of the vast changes it brings to society. As it continues to go on and make life easier…..

Humans start to forget that deep down, we were also animals. 

We were driven by the basic necessities for survival: Food, procreation, and shelter. 

But it seems that instead of humans gaining fewer needs for survival, we just become greedier. The more accessible these necessities were, the more we crave them. 

For example, we were satisfied with hunting or foraging food. Some would raise a few animals here and there. But never to the degree of large farms owned by corporations.
