For hell's sake, it has been three days and I still couldn't get my mind off of it.
Three days ago I was another person living another life, a completely unassuming human, with his dreams, hopes, parents, and life all ahead of him. Then one day I woke up in this world, in an orphanage, with a single letter on the small table in my room. It was the Hogwarts acceptance letter, memories assaulted me and I remembered my name: Christian Wielding (a surname given arbitrarily by the orphanage), I also remembered that professor Sprout was the one who took me to Diagon Alley the first time, she was very nice and understanding.
I looked at the books and studied basic charms and Transfiguration a bit, three days were obviously not enough to study a whole curriculum and I still thought this experience was all a dream, however, I managed to get the theory of the basics down, even if it was a dream I wanted to live this childhood fantasy as much as I could.
...
Sitting on the train I realized that with all probability it was not a dream but a solid reality. What was a children's world became my life in the span of a nap.
Thankfully my wand still responded to me very well and had no compatibility issues.
"Lumos"
A light appeared small to be sure but it was there, magic flowed from me to the wand, and thanks to precise wand movement to help in the casting and clear intent light came to life where before there was none.
I couldn't contain my giddiness, I was grinning like a madman, an 11 years old madman.
Suddenly an interruption
Knock Knock
"It's open," I said
From the door, a bushy-haired teen timidly entered the compartment dragging a big handbag
"H, Hello" she started, obviously recognizing the girl I gave her a reassuring smile
"Hi, the compartment is empty if you are looking for a seat" at that she brightly smiled back and answered "Thank you, huff this is heavy"
"Umh, could I try to see if I can make a spell work to help you with that?"
She brightened even more her speech reaching 200 km/h "Ah you are doing magic? Sure you can try, I also tried some Charms at home and they all worked, had some trouble with- Umh sorry about that" after realizing she was going way too fast she blushed and coughed a few times trying to shake it off.
The action was so cute I just gave a good chuckle but tried to reassure her anyways "It is okay, don't worry about it, I was also very excited when I found out I could do magic, so lemme try that charm I was talking about earlier"
I briefly reviewed the book for the correct hand movements while Hermione sat down.
I had the power, I had the drive, and I could finally do something I always wished I could do, I am NOT going to stumble on a levitation charm.
I closed my eyes
"Wingardium Leviosa" swish and flick, spell the words correctly like I practiced, envision the result I want in my mind, and then supply the magic.
I opened my eyes again and I saw the handbag levitating a few centimeters above the ground, not breaking my focus I slowly directed it towards the overhead luggage ranks slotting it nicely with a thud.
Hermione looked ecstatic and so was I.
"That was amazing!"
"Aww thank you! It was a bit shaky, but it did the job" I answered naturally
"Want to try some other stuff? Ah I almost forgot Hermione, Hermione Granger" she told me with a gigawatt smile
I laughed a bit, I couldn't say no to that "Christian, Christian Wielding but call me Chris, let's do some magic then"
...
Hermione was out looking for Neville's toad while she left me to read Hogwarts a History, a book she thought I definitely needed to read and I duly accepted.
She left hurriedly when she thought she had been insensitive in asking me what my parents felt about me being a wizard since I obviously was not raised as one and I had to explain I was an Orphan.
A simple "Tell me how the hunt goes" was enough to bring her good mood back.
...
Suddenly she barged into the compartment
"Chris! You won't believe it!"
"You met Harry Potter?"
"I met- how... how did you know?" she asked me flabbergasted
I wiggled my eyebrows and said "Magiiiiic"
She laughed and playfully hit my arm "Oh come on!"
"A blonde guy entered the compartment asking for him, since you were inquiring everybody on the train about the toad you were bound to find him at some point" I winked at the wide-eyed witch
She sighed in elation for some season.
"You scared me!"
We laughed and talked a bit while preparing ourselves to start our Hogwarts journey.
...
"First Years! First Years!" screamed the gentle giant Hagrid
"Look there are boats there," I told Hermione who nodded and took my arm to not lose her in the big crowd of students, 112 were the students this year to be exact, a bit low if we consider the whole of Britain, the war had its toll, that's for sure. I got on the boat and helped Hermione in as well, then I helped two other girls in, to my surprise I recognized both and as such, I did not speak. Hermione was too worried about not missing the view than to greet new people which I was thankful for.
I glanced briefly at the two, Daphne was intently staring at me. Fuck. I just nodded at the both and then focused on the castle which was of a beauty of its own. Like hell I was opening THAT can of worms.
...
Everything went as in the movie, Neville found the toad on the stairs, Draco got owned by Harry and the sorting began.
"Wielding Christian" boomed McGonagall, happy that the sorting was coming to a close.
I was obviously going to steer away from the plot as much as possible, it was going to be fine after all, there was no need to as everything was going to be fine-
"Gryffindor," said the hat
For fuck sake.
