"Mother," her eyes widened in shock and she said in a stunned voice. "What are you guys doing here?" 

Mama Chi marched towards Chi Lian angrily like a bull ready to charge at its enemy, "What am I doing here?" she asked. "What am I doing here?' she repeated furiously. "I should be asking you that question Chi Lian. What have you been doing?"

Chi Lian knew that if her mother was not calling her Chi-Chi but referring to her with her full name then she was in trouble.

"Mother," she said nervously.

"Don't mother me young lady, I was at the door all along with your father and brothers, we heard everything. How dare you run off and donate your eggs as if you are a chicken. Do you have so many free eggs? With whose permission did you do such a risky thing?"
