Much later, as Scarlet guessed, Justin came in search of her because he was hungry. She gave him food and sent him and Esong on their way to a father-son date. Esong needed to explain in person to his son that he would not be seeing him for a few months. 

When she saw them at bedtime two hours later, Justin's eyes were red and Esong had a solemn look on his face. 

"Mommy, I am sleeping in your bed tonight." he told her. 

"Of course baby. Not just tonight, but every other night until when you decide that you don't want to." she told him. 

Wherever she went, she would be taking him along with her. She could not leave him behind because the deities could not be trusted not to use him somehow to make her return from wherever she was.
