章節 11: Chapter 10: Brief history

After their encounter with The Flash, Dinah led Toneri on a continued tour of the Watchtower, her steps deliberate as she navigated the sleek corridors of the towering structure. With each passing moment, the atmosphere crackled with unspoken questions, and Toneri sensed Dinah's curiosity simmering just beneath the surface.

As they reached a quieter area of the Watchtower, Dinah turned to Toneri, her gaze probing yet respectful. "You've mentioned that you're from... elsewhere," she began, her voice carrying a hint of intrigue. "Can you enlighten me further about your origins? What compelled you to journey here?"

Toneri considered her question carefully, weighing his words before offering a glimpse into his past."I am an observer in the

world of shinobi," he began, his voice measured."I am a descendant of the Ōtsutsuki clan, my clan has been tasked with watching over and to safeguard the elemental nations from the moon for centuries, by my ancestor Hamura Otsutsuki which I have done for the past 8 centuries." he revealed, his tone laced with a quiet reverence for his lineage.

Dinah's eyes widened in astonishment, her mind racing to comprehend the implications of his revelation. "For centuries?" she echoed, her voice tinged with incredulity. "Does that mean... are you immortal?"

Toneri shook his head slightly. "Not immortal in the traditional sense, but the longevity of my clan's existence has allowed me to witness the ebb and flow of history from a unique vantage point," he explained, his voice carrying a certain weight to it.

'Although if we we're to count the years I spent with Hamura-sama in that void, that should make me just a little bit over seven thousand years old.' Tōneri thought to himself after finally discovering a way to monitor the passage of time in the void that was once his prison.

As they continued their conversation, Toneri peeled back the layers of his solitary existence on the moon, recounting the arduous training he underwent from a tender age and the bitter civil war that rent his clan asunder. "The schism between the main and branch families nearly drove the clan to the brink of extinction," he elaborated, his voice tinged with melancholy. "In the aftermath, the message of my ancestor Hamura became distorted— if mankind was deemed unworthy, they were to be eradicated."

Dinah's eyes widened in shock at the revelation, her thoughts racing to comprehend the magnitude of his words. "Eradicated?" she repeated, her voice barely a whisper. "You mean... your clan contemplated genocide?"

Toner's expression remained neutral as he explained, careful to omit certain details while still providing enough information to satisfy Dinah's curiosity. As he spoke, he couldn't help but wonder how the League would react to his revelations, and what role he would

ultimately play

Toneri nodded solemnly, his expression grave. "It was a dark chapter in our history, one that I have strived to rectify," he confessed, his gaze unwavering. "But the scars of the past run deep, and the shadows they cast linger still."

His thoughts flashes back to his interaction with uzumaki Naruto and how his beliefs of eradicating the earth due to the constant wars, suffering and death brought about by the human nature was shattered by the prospect of change.

'I wonder,' Toneri thought with a small smile playing on his lip. 'What would he do In this situation… oh well that doesn't matter now, what matters is what I am going to do next.' He concluded in his mind.

With their conversation drawing to a close, Toneri offered Dinah a respectful nod, silently acknowledging her role as his caretaker in the Watchtower. As she departed to relay his revelations to the League, he couldn't shake the sense that his presence here heralded the dawn of a new era, one fraught with both peril and possibility.

As Toneri finished familiarizing himself with

the Watchtower, Toneri returned to his room in the Watchtower. Sitting cross-legged on

the floor, he closed his eyes and delved into a deep meditation, seeking clarity amidst the swirling currents of his thoughts.

At the back of his mind, a nagging question persisted: why couldn't he sense chakra in any of the League members? It was a mystery that troubled him deeply, for in his world, chakra was a fundamental aspect of

existence, an energy that permeated all living beings. Yet here, among Earth's heroes, it

remained elusive, a puzzle he was determined to solve.

As Toneri delved deeper into his meditation, he extended his senses far beyond the confines of the Watchtower, reaching down to the surface of Earth itself, an act he was all too familiar with back in the shinobi world. A way to always monitor the elemental nations.

Yet, to his bewilderment, the familiar sensation of chakra remained elusive, like a thread lost amidst a tapestry of myriad energies.

Frowning in concentration, Toneri pondered the implications of this discovery. In his world, chakra was the very essence of life, flowing through every living being like a river of power. Its absence here defied everything he had ever known, raising unsettling questions about the nature of this unfamiliar realm.

As he continued to probe the depths of Earth's energy, Toneri's senses were assailed by a cacophony of diverse signatures, each one unique in its own right. Some emanated a dark, corrupted aura, while others glowed with a pure, radiant light. And yet, amidst this kaleidoscope of energies, chakra remained conspicuously absent, leaving him to wonder what other forces might hold sway in this world.

Lost in thought, Toneri found himself immersed in an internal monologue, contemplating the implications of his findings. Could it be that chakra was but one facet of a larger cosmic tapestry, overshadowed by unseen forces lurking in the shadows? Or was there something fundamentally different about this reality, something that defied the laws of nature as he understood them?

As the minutes stretched into hours, Toneri's mind churned with uncertainty, grappling with the enigma that lay before him.

Meanwhile, back in the briefing room, Aquaman, the King of Atlantis and a key member of the Justice League, grew increasingly concerned as the disturbances escalated. He called for an emergency meeting, gathering the League to discuss the situation.

"We're dealing with something unlike anything we've encountered before," Aquaman declared, his voice grave with urgency. "The ocean depths are roiling with unnatural activity, and whatever is down there poses a significant threat to both land and sea."

Superman's brow furrowed in concern. "Any idea what we're up against?"

Aquaman shook his head, his expression troubled. "Not yet. But whatever it is, it's powerful enough to disrupt the natural order of the ocean. We need to investigate and neutralize the threat before it escalates further."

Wonder Woman nodded in agreement. "I'll coordinate with our allies in Themyscira to gather any information they have on similar occurrences."

Batman, ever vigilant, assessed the situation with a tactical mindset. "We should prepare for all scenarios. Until we have more information, we must remain cautious."

Turning to Dinah, Batman inquired about their visitor's status. Dinah, ever observant, relayed her findings to the League, providing a succinct summary of Toner's background

and abilities, while omitting certain sensitive details at his request. As the League members absorbed this new information, a sense of unease settled over them, mingling

with the urgency of their impending mission.
