Trance's point of view
"Are you sure it's a simple pub?" I scanned the whole surrounding, from the bottom to the top back to where my eyes ended up. To be frank, I thought that it would be a simple establishment. More than the typical 1 story building. However, like what the elders say you shouldn't judge the book by its cover. It's a total loss on my behalf yet I admit that I have a mistake on that part. (Or maybe not.)
"Your friend is rich. This is a luxurious pub. I haven't set foot on places like this." I glance at Nine who's wearing clothes as if she's attending a funeral. With sunglasses for her eyes, a mask that covers half of her face, and a black umbrella, the conclusion of having sensitivity under the sun jumped into my brain. More like...Haru. Seriously, I'm a the peak of my mind thinking that they're vampires. Why do people with extraordinary characters are always with me?
My hair swayed through the wind that pierced like a cold needle against my skin. My gaze trailed the moving car passes before me and Nine. I glance at Nine who's looking at her watch. I took a big step under the shade of her umbrella. Even if the temperature is not that high, I don't want myself to smell like the sun.
"The 3 lower floors area are the pub, The rest are part of the hotel. This is also the place where we often held meetings." Nine explained while her attention was on her phone. She kept on typing down something there while I patiently waited for her next move, "It's nearly afternoon break, let's go inside before we got no place to eat." Nine murmurs then dragged me inside. She walked faster than me because of her long legs and I needed to make my step bigger. Gee, I'm not small, I got a perfect height for me, Nine is just taller than me.
"Where they are?"
"On their way here. I'll go to make a reservation. Wait here."
After having a reservation, the receptionist led me and Nine to the table located not far from the counter. There, both of us were seated in silence. I fixed my dress while she placed her eyeglasses on the side of the table. Waiting for each other to talk first. Minutes passed, the clock struck noon, and the number of people inside started to rise up in numbers. Yet, we got stuck in silence. I and Nine both darted their gazes at the two sweet-scented ladies seated beside us. Captain Artemis on Nine's side and Vice-Captain Hera on mine. Both of them are dressed up in black biker attire.
"I told you, we should ride my car here." Vice-Captain Hera rolled her eyes at Captain Artemis who put down her leather gloves and then crossed her arms as she leaned at the chair, "My bike is completely fine." She shrugged. Despite how the sun showered down on them on the road, their pleasant smell however stands out. This completely contradicts Nine's manly scent.
"Have you ordered, Nial?"
"Yes. Who's gonna pay for it?"
"You. Of course, your treat this time."
"Sure. Anything you want aside from the food that I've ordered? How about you Trance?"
"Do they have a croquette on their menu?"
"They have. Wait here." I watched her as she stood up and went to the counter. Half a minute later, she went back to our table.
"How will you eat by the way? You often cover your face." I curiously eyed Nine's mask, making Vice-Captain Hera and Captain Artemis agree. Nine motioned to pull down the mask before she tapped her sunglasses against the table. Now she looks like an eyewitness on some murder case hiding her own identity in fear of getting killed. From a vampire to an eyewitness real quick.
"Do you remember the time that Nine lifted her mask and covered her nose and eye when she drank bubble tea?"
"Stop. Quit the gossip, will you?" Nine said with a drop-dead tone. I watched her in silence, she must be tired of them. Reminds me of myself and the trio who shared one remaining brain cell.
"Yes, I remembered that." Vice-Captain Hera agreed with a burst of laughter.
The waiter served us our meals while Vice-Captain and Captain conversed with each other. I enjoyed my meal without any intention of speaking to anyone yet Captain Artemis turned her attention to me.
"How Nine's driving?"
"Fun. Yeah, it's fun." I lied. I don't catch a cold easily but when I ride her car earlier, my fingertips and even my warm feet felt like I put them inside the freezer. She didn't drive like that when she drove me and Kai to school. I thought I was going to die back there. Add the fact that the song 'Highway to hell' played.
I glanced at Nine who did nothing but stare at her untouched food. She lifted her head and met my eyes, questioning me mentally about what am I looking at. Her silence didn't match the sounds of people around us; from the cutleries clashing against each other to random people's gossip.
"What's the matter? Are you alright?" Nine shook her head before hanging her sunglasses on her blouse, making me narrow my brows. Above all the weirdos that I've met, she's the first on the line. She's more weird than me but hey, everyone has their secrets though.
'Is it why she's covering half of her face because she got a cleft palate? Is her nose got a problem? Maybe her teeth are crooked or maybe she got problems with her breath or maybe her mouth is a slit like Kuchisake-onna.'
"Nine, why not tell Ellreign?" Captain Artemis chuckled.
"It's fucking annoying when someone continuously asked me questions. Damn it," She retorted before pulling both strings off her mask. Nine slides it into her pocket. I blinked twice to check if my sight was not fooling me. I even rubbed my eyes. Those questions on my mind are all nothing but irony on the face of the woman in front of me. The unanticipated dread swept away by January's air when she looked at me with sunset-like colored eyes. While her blonde hair is like an October hunter's moon.
'I'm used to people cussing in front of me. But dang.'
"Why you're...so pretty?"
"Fine. I'll accept that." Nine replied in such defeat as if she didn't have any choice, "I guess your questions from earlier got their answers now." She stabbed the carbonara using her fork.
"Gay." Nine grinned at me.
"Anyway, it seems like our visitors are here." I turned at the entrance where the group of men wearing business attire made their way towards the counter. At this moment I'd like to wonder why delinquents somehow wear clothes like that nowadays. Back when I was 14 years old, they weren't like that but time flies, and everything changes, right?
"They are the type who doesn't want a single dirt on their hands," I whispered. The entire pub's ground floor went dead set on silence. I shook my head after having thought of them doing things that used to be exciting to me back then before biting my croquette. Nine told me that I can do everything and I'll do whatever I want.
"Oh! This food tastes like home. The chef or maybe the cook made this food perfect." I commented. My gaze trailed the staff who rushed at them. A woman's scream in agony made the whole scene unsettling. It was followed by laughter from the group of men.
"Who's gonna deal with that?" Vice-Captain asked.
"In the count of two, point out who will be." Captain raised a finger, "Two."
My brows almost got knitted right when two fingers were both pointed at me. I tilted my head on Nine but she's riding the same boat as mine. Her tired eyes met mine when I pushed myself off the table. Nine put on her mask and entered the whole scene while I simply put a fork in my pocket and took a step casually beside her.
"I told you, I don't have any debt on your party." The woman said calmly. I bet my left ring finger, she's the girl named Aga that they're talking about earlier. She stands taller in inches than me and has a noticeable voluptuous body even though she's wearing a simple shirt and jeans. She also that curly hair like a doll.
"No, no. You still have. Your family still has it."
"I already paid all of it before."
"But the profit? You didn't. I already gave you half a month but you didn't respond and here you are, denying it." The guy in the middle said in utter disappointment.
"Are you kidding me?"
"Your mother already made a joke when you were born, my lady." He retorted with an annoying yet sardonic grin on his face. I tapped my shoes against the ground, that's below the belt.
"How much is the profit on her debt?" I asked. With just a simple question, everyone turned to me.
"How much?" Nine repeated this time. She gently held my wrist. I can't get a grasp of my patience any longer. Maybe I'm not a hero here, yet, what he has said is below the belt. She didn't do or say anything wrong to them.
"I'm talking to the guy who tries his best to make everyone laugh." I deadpanned as I clapped slowly, appreciating his puny existence. He tried his best, his best that even it didn't have any connection to me fueled my annoyance for the day. I used a finger to wipe the fake tears I had.
"10 million pesos." Nine and I exchanged looks.
"Only that?" Nine scoffed. I pressed my palm to my lips to suppress the laughter that wanted to escape. I motioned her to wait before rushing to my seat where my bag was.
"Do you want to sum it higher?" He gives me a mocking look. That look who wants to hit a girl and discriminate against her or try to make her submit. As if I'll do that. Honestly speaking, at this moment I wanted to cover his face using paper and made a paper mache exclusively for him.
"There." I throw my bag at him. My bag hit the floor and the zipper opened itself by force. Papers exploded in the air and showered on us.
"That's 10 fucking million dollars. Shove it to your asses and don't show your puny faces in this place forever."
Hello, it's me. Who's always the problem. I would like to apologize for not updating for two years. Yes, I know two years is long. I got too busy with my personal life (Just kidding, it's just school) since I'm graduating during that time and now. Again, don't worry, I'll try my best to update when I can. Thank you and I apologize for the two years delay.
